Kings Of Leon Pay Tribute To Ryan Dunn During London Concert

| Filed under: Music MinuteR.I.P.Sad SadKings Of Leon

It's so sad to see how many people this tragic loss has affected.

Kings of Leon performed a show at London's Hyde Park yesterday, and took the opportunity to pay tribute to their recently deceased friend, Jackass star Ryan Dunn, who lost his life in a car accident early Monday morning.

Right before playing the song McFearless, frontman Caleb Followill asked the crowd to raise a glass for "a friend of ours who passed away," and then dedicated the song to him.

Check out a clip of the performance (above).

That couldn't have been an easy performance for them, so we have to commend them for being strong enough to perform something in honor of his life.

Stay strong, guys. You're in our thoughts.

And may Ryan R.I.P.

Raise a glass? Are you f'king KIDDING?
    Team Ebert!

  2. 2

    Give me a break.

  3. 3

Why are they commemorating a guy that drove while under the influence and KILLED himself and his friend? I'm sorry but that's just some bullshit right there.

  4. 4

really? How easy it is to forget he KILLED SOMEONE.

    what about that guys family??

  5. 5

Another reason to hate this band. I just don't understand how this band is popular.

    6

Shouldn't the tribute be for the passenger that Ryan needlessly KILLED.

  7. 7

Why are these people idolizing a D-list idiot….how about commemorating all the people who died in the tornadoes this summer?

  8. 8

LOL to raise your glass - KOL are a bunch of drunks too, maybe the'll crash next and someone can celebrate them at a concert

  9. 9

Yes, let's raise our glasses and toast a drunk driver… then drive home afterwards.

  10. 10

The worst band on the planet saluting a murderer? Sounds about right.

  11. 11

Hopefully Kings of Leon will go out the same way this loser did.

  12. 12

Well everyone's done wrote what I was going to, lol, great minds…

  13. 13

Hey, assholes, the passenger in Ryan Dunn's car was not innocent. If friends don't let friends drive drunk then why the fuck did the passenger let Ryan drive? Why the fuck did the passenger get into the car? Why didn't the passenger ask Ryan to slow the fuck down? Neither of the two men were innocent but it's still super fucking sad that they died. Didn't your parents teach you assholes accountability?

  14. 14

Regardless of whether the guy was an innocent victim or irresponsible drunk driver, his friends have still suffered a loss . They weren't present the night of his crash. His actions were not their fault & they didn't do anything wrong. They are grieving & should be allowed to express how they feel. I'd imagine that if you ask any of his friends in a month or so they will say he was a selfish jerk for what he did, but give them time to get over it first. I thought the Kings of Leon thing tribute was a bit over the top - not very sensitive to the other family, but I understand it.

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – Totally. You are never innocent if you get in a car with a drunk driver.

    16

lol "raise a glass? really, they couldn't think of something different?

  17. 17

All of you guys are horrible. Yes, drinking and driving is wrong, and in no way, shape or form should Ryan or his passenger been in that car, but never under ANY circumstances should you be disrespectful about someone's death. Show some class. Let friends of the guy pay their respects.

  18. 18

This pisses me entirely off! Raise a glass to salute a drunk driver??? This wonderful guy's actions fuck up two families, never mind all the friends ect. They might as well have raised a glass to stupidity.

    19

raise a glass? RAISE A GLASS? of what…booze???? raise a glass of booze to toast and honor someone who drove completely blitzed and killed his passenger?
that is just about the most astoundingly wrong and stupid things to do and you fat piggy head perez are admiring it?
would you raise a glass honoring a person who kills gays? so why honor a guy who killed his innocent passenger.

    you are fucked pig head.

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – wow. are your parents brother and sister. that is in on the short list to explain your idiotic comment…you should have been in the passenger seat dick wad.

  21. 21

Re: MartiniShake – Thank you! Obviously, your padres taught you right. Ryan didn't put a pistol to his amigo's head and say "Get in the car." Neither of them had any idea that their choices would cost them their lives that morning. The Ryan Dunn haters seem like they wish they could bring him back to life only to sentence him to death.

  22. 22

Re: Shark – Hey, dipshit, the fucking fact of the matter is the "innocent passenger" was boozing it up that night. Not too innocent. The "innocent passenger" made a fucking concious decision to get into his friend's car. Ryan was notorious for driving fast and recklessly…yet the passenger CHOSE to get into Ryan's car. For all we know, the "innocent passenger" was encouraging Ryan to go to those speeds. What do you have to say for the many choices of the passenger? This oughta be good…

  23. 23

Bunch of douche bags those kings of doucheyness

  24. 24

Pathetic. Raise a glass. Perez who's c*ck are you sucking??

  25. 25

Wow you people are assholes! No matter the circumstances two people lost their lives. You're real cool trashy a dead man on the internet.. I hope someone kills you

  26. 26

Why grieve? This is a guy whose career was built on taking life-threatening risks. That's what he DID. To grieve an inevitable consequence is stupid. His friends should understand that and should maybe at best be celebrating his wild and crazy life — but his death was the result of his own actions — a consequence he was aware of and therefore not truly "tragic."

    27

lost any respect I had for this band, raise a glass for F*s sake! really? really? lets all just get on the double standard wagon here. Had it been an unknown bloke that had done this he would be burning in effigy right about now! wait..or perhaps should say had it been someone perez didn't like lol because the word hogan comes to mind

  28. 28

so sad. I love kings of leon. this is perfect.

  29. 29

I'd raise a glass to the inevitability of Darwin's law.

  30. 30

This is ridiculous, all this pathos, he KILLED another human being and we have not heard one word about the other human being or the fact that he was killed by a DRUNK driver
Hollywood is so full of itself, I eagerly await the fall of Rome

  31. 31

HE DIDNT LOSE HIS LIFE HE FUCKIN THREW IT AWAY!

  32. 32

Re: Team Kim Richards – It was that guys own choice to get in the car with a drunk person! Sure it's tragic that he died too, but he should never have gotten in the car. None of them should! He should have stopped Dunn from even driving in the first place!! RIP Ryan Dunn!! And the other dude..

  33. 33

Classy. Despite the poor choice that led to his death, Ryan Dunn did a lot of charity work and entertained a lot of us as well.

  34. 34

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – STFU. who are you internet MOM? Like you really give a shit about this asshole! Its people like you with the problem, throwing their self percieived superior opinions at us inferior sub humans. Hahah you make me laugh.

  35. 35

Raise a glass.. let's celebrate this alcoholic murder/suicide by drinking. Makes sense, I guess.

  36. 36

    Re: Queen mab – Hilarious!

  37. 37

U know one thing this comment section can agree on (& that its good 2 C & what good Ryan & his friend dying tragically has done)…it has got people talking about how STIPID DRINKING & DRIVING is & that SPEED KILLS & THAT FRIENDS DONT LET FRIENDS DRIVE DRUNK! So its nice 2 C so many people in the comment section upset & furious over this…that means U all will NOT DRINK & DRIVE, CHEERS 2U ALL!

  38. 38

ALL OF YOU THAT ARE SAYING RYAN KILLED HIS FRIEND ARE ALSO FORGETTING THAT HIS FRIEND GOT IN THE CAR ON HIS OWN FREE WILL KNOWING THAT RYAN DUNN HAD BEEN DRINKING AND WAS DRUNK NO ONE FORCED HIM IN THE CAR HE GOT IN ON HIS OWN YES ITS A SHAME THAT TWO PEOPLE LOST THERE LIVES BUT STOP PUTTING DUNN DOWN HES NOT THE FIRST OR LAST PERSON TO DRINK AND DRIVE SO ALL OF YOU SHUT UP THANK YOU

  39. 39

SO, if your best friend died because they were drink driving you'd have this reaction to them as well? No, didn't think so.

Yes, what he did was stupid. Yes, he is largely responsible for the other guy dying as well. Yes, it was all unavoidable.

But that doesn't change the fact that he was someones friend and son. Just because something is avoidable, doesn't mean they deserve it.

Plus, you are just as responsible if you get in a car with someone who is drunk. I know for sure I'd never get in the car with someone drunk driving. Ever.

  40. 40

    Fuck all of you.
