We're very sad to report that beloved Columbo star Peter Falk passed away Thursday evening at his Beverly Hills home, at the age of 83.

Although the cause of death is currently unknown, the actor had been suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease for the past few years.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved ones.

May he R.I.P.

    loved him as Columbo-he set the bar high
    great at everything he acted in
    even loved his cameo in the Princess Bride
    .
    won 5 Emmys- 4 or which were for Columbo
    nominated twice for Oscars
    1960… for Murder, Inc.
    1961 for Frank Capra's Pocketful of Miracles
    2 must rent movies if you haven't seen them yet
    .
    couldn't enlist in WW2 in 1945 because of his glass eye (lost to a malignant tumor at age 3)
    so he joined the Merchant Marines…patriotic man!
    .
    got his Masters degree in 1953…smart man!
    acting on Broadway by 1956…real acting chops!
    acting on TV by 1957…pioneer!
    .
    sad to hear he had Alzheimers
    sadder he has passed :-(

    RIP Peter Fallk. My beloved Colombo no more. I loved you not only in the Colombo show, but in one of my favorite movies "Death by Murder", the first time you ever wore that trench coat & it stuck with you for so many years. What a great actor. You will be missed. :-(

    Very very sad.
    I would like to recommend a film from the 80's w/ Peter Falk called:
    MURDER BY DEATH.
    it's a murder mystery comedy and it's GREAT! Any Falk fan should check it out if ya haven't seen it.
    Sad day…..loss of a television icon.
    …..just one more thing.

    One of my fondest memories of my childhood is watching Columbo out smart those no good criminals.

    One of my favorite movies from long ago was "Pocket Full of Miracles" starring Glen Ford, Bette Davis, Hope Lang and Peter Falk as one of the Dude's henchmen. It's a great feel good movie and Peter Falk certainly held his own in such talented company.
