This is EXACTLY what we like to hear!
According to state census data just released, the number of gay and lesbian households in California have grown SIX times faster than those of heterosexual spouses between 2000 and 2010, climbing 36.2% as compared to the latter's 5.7%!
William Frey, a demographer with the Brookings Institution in Washington, attributes this to the growing acceptance of the LGBT community, and explains:
"It's indicative of a trend. We're a more open society."
And Gary Gates, of the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy, thinks that the numbers will only continue to increase - even in less 'accepting' states!
"You'll see even bigger jumps in more conservative states. The closet is getting smaller."
Amazing! It's so wonderful to see this kind of progress all over the country in this small a window in time!
We just hope that it can CONTINUE, and speed up - as everyone should feel comfortable living openly with the person they love - WHEREVER they choose!
EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!
