Target Jumps On The It Gets Better Bandwagon!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikBusiness BlitzLGBT

Well, well, well…look who's trying to play nice with the gays!

Check out various Target gay and lesbian employees sharing their stories as part of the It Gets Better Project (above)!

We certainly appreciate the sentiment behind this message, but we still think that it can only TRULY get better when the corporation stops funding politicians who have anti-gay rights agendas!

Just saying!

I shop at Target because they fund politicians who have anti-gay rights agendas.

  2. 2

Haven't shopped there since the "incident" and it seems to have paid off! They are losing money daily!!!

  3. 3

Things will get better when you queer bitches stop whining at absolutely everything. not everything makes you a victim, even though you would like it too.

  4. 4

All i gotta say is perez you are an idiot..you really need to do your research before posting garbage about the target corp. Just a little FYI, that money that target corp gave, was to a THIRD PARTY FUNDING!!! The target corp. Didn't even know that the money was going towards a politician that has anti- gay right agendas. When the corporation donates the money to a third party funding, they do not know where it will go…Second of all, the OWNERS of target are 2 gay men. That's right! 2 GAY men. And they have a wonderful family. So If they did know where the money is being funded to, it would have been stopped asap. Esp. since the owners of the corp are gay..

Re: lp1981 – i didn't have the strength but yeah people don't do their research thye just blindly…."Idon't like target" ….. Sheep….. Really great video, pretty courageous in this social climate it could hurt their company but they did it anyway.

Any member of the glbt community who spends money at Target is supporting a company that contributes to politicians who work against us, whether they give directly or indirectly makes no difference, they are supporting those who work against our equality.

Perez, please stop acting like people who are gay or lesbian are entitled. That's like saying people who are African American or Hispanic or Asian are entitled. "Well well well, look who's playing nice with the gays." What is that? That's suggesting that we all have to grovel and suck up to the entire gay community. No one is entitled to anything except equality… we're all human beings. I believe until everyone truly views everything the same way, there will be no equality. Until we treat gay proposals like we would straight proposals, or families with homosexual parents like we do heterosexual families, there will be unequality. I doesn't matter if someone is gay or not… I don't even feel like it's necessary for people to come out. You are who you are, and it shouldn't be necessary for someone to announce to the world who they are. People who are straight don't announce to the world that they like the opposite sex, so why should people who are gay or lesbian have to?

Don't shop at Target over that "incident"

I'm Gay and I've worked for Target for 6 years. During that time we've had just as many Gay Team Members as straight ones. We are not responsible for the one or two corporate monkeys who chose to throw money at a conservative.

Although the very top of Target might be conservative (because they're rich) The stores themselves are very, very liberal.

You think you're making a statement for Gay rights by not shopping at Target? Actually you're just promoting more Gays to have NO MONEY because they're company can't afford to give them hours!

I'm sure that if you dig deep enough, you will find many supporters of the the LBGT community also directly or indirectly associate themselves with additional groups that project a very anti LBGT message. You can't have your cake and eat it? Right?

  12. 12

Perez and all of the "Target" haters: Check out who is one of the sponsors for the Twin Cities(Minneapolis and St. Paul Mn) Pride 2011 fest. Target has always been one of the sponsors since the start. They give away lots and lots and lots of money to help many communities and organizations and have since the beginning of the Company.
I don't see Wal-Mart listed as a sponsor and never have………..actually just what does Wal-Mart sponsor?

  13. 13

I don't like target and I HATE how everyone on this announcement is white… the gay community literally doesn't care about representing the minorities. I want to appreciate this message, but I just can't do it. I can't appreciate it if they don't show the gay people who are middle eastern (like me), latinos, blacks or asians.

  14. 14

This is stupid. Target does not directly support these anti-gay politicians that you speak of. They support the stances that some of these politicians take on things tax related to such a large corporation.

I'm getting really tired of every other post end with "Equal rights for ALL." I'm all for the homosexual oriented people of the world to have equal rights that include at the very least civil unions and at the very most marriage, but I don't want you to shove your beliefs down my throat as often as you do– and frankly, it doesn't matter where I do or do not stand on this issue, you ARE shoving. I agree with HeyItsKara.

So you, my friend, can continue shopping and "supporting" the ghetto-fabulous, trashy superstore called Wal-Mart, and I will continue shopping {and working} at Target and not have to deal with guests like you.

Re: Jumperchu – You can't appreciate a message about embracing diversity because they don't look like you? Do you see anything wrong with that logic? And Perez, you're an undignified prat. You act like being gay gives you entitlement rather than, oh, I don't know, being treated like any other person on this planet. Equality. But that's not what your little gay movement is about, is it?

Oh FFS nothing ever makes you happy.

Lloyd! Thats my boy! So proud

Re: yourboyleroy – The owners of Target are gay, you might want to actually learn a little something about the company you work for before you spout off. And your idiot comment about "The higher ups are conservatives because they are rich". Perhaps you might want to try a little more research into the fact that the vast majority of Hollywood, the richest people in the country, are Democrats. It's great how people like you, and Perez, make uneducated blanket generalizations without knowing any of the actual facts.

Like Target gives a flying fuck about a politician's opinions concerning gay rights. Target is a corporation, it funds politicians whose opinions would benefit them FINANCIALLY. I'm a Target employee, and the homosexual community is definitely well-represented on staff…as are racial minorities (actually, there are far more 'minority' team members than white team members, but that's probably just the area I live in) and persons with disabilities. Target is not an enemy. Stop this bullshit.
