hillary clinton talks ny same sex marriage

SPOILER ALERT: Hillary is totally for same-sex marriage, as she should be!

On Friday, were beyond thrilled to announce that the New York state Senate voted in favor of same-sex legislation, thanks to four Republican senators who joined with their Democratic counterparts to recognize the right of ALL New Yorkers to the protections and privileges that come with civil marriage.

This morning, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke up about NY's landmark decision in an address to State Department group Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies. Here's what she had to say about it:

"[The win in New York] gives such visibility and credibility to everything that so many of you have done over so many years."

"I look out at this audience, and I see a lot of familiar faces, of people who have been on the front lines for many years and have worked so diligently and smartly for the progress that we are seeing."

"This is a human rights issue…Just as I was very proud to say the obvious more than 15 years ago in Beijing — that human rights are women’s rights, and women’s rights are human rights — well, let me say today that human rights are gay rights, and gay rights are human rights, once and for all."

Couldn't have said it better ourselves! Thanks for the support, Hillary! We're very excited for the progress to continue!

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!

Go Hil! Now why don't you come out of the closet and dump the scank rat you married? You married for power. Now why not marry for love?

"Hillary is totally for same-sex marriage, as she should be! "

    As she should be?

Can't she have her own opinion on the matter???? Holy hell! When will you fucking realize that everyone can have an opinion …… not everyone is going to like gay people.

    SORRY PEREZ!

Re: JGirl1988 – this is EXACTLY what i thought when I read that comment by Perez. He's so typical…you don't agree with my point of view, therefore you are bad, and you are WRONG!

Newsflash! Opinions are opinions, and no one's is right and no one's is wrong. Everyone is titled to think for him or herself and have his or her own opinion.

As someone who preaches acceptance of everyone, why does that not include those who don't think like you?

I'm so sick of people saying that bigots are entitled to their opinions…although I agree people will always have opinions, I do not agree that every opinion should be tolerated in a public forum….until homophobic ideas or sensibilities are as taboo as racism, sexism, or any other form of discrimination, and not tolerated, then homosexuals need to keep fighting.

I'm also really sick of people telling GLBT people that we should stop whining, that we have enough rights etc. WE DON'T. We don't want special rights, we just want equal rights. We want younger GLTB kids to not have to go to school in fear of being bullied, or worse. We want to walk down the street and hold our partners hand, just as any hetero couple does.

I'm also very sick of the religious argument. Yes the America's were founded in a very religious time, and on "religious" values, but that was a very long time ago, and it was also founded in a time when slavery was ok, that women had no rights, when it was ok to go into a country and wipe out indigenous civilizations. We've come a very long way from that time, and society is very different now, and all the laws and values should reflect that.

Hopefully soon GLBT people will have all rights extended to them, just as all races, religions and other minorities have!

"As she should be"??? Let people form their OWN opinions, asshole! You respect the opinions of homosexuals, so why can't you respect the opinions of everyone else?!

I find it hilarious when Perez writes: "Couldn't have said it better ourselves!" as if implying he's actually articulate.

    Being gay is a choice.

    Re: tellall

So if it's a choice, when did you make your conscious choice to be heterosexual?
