95-Year-Old Woman Forced To Remove Wet Diaper For Airport Security

| Filed under: Super SeniorsWacky, Tacky & TrueSad Sad

Did this woman really look like THAT much of a threat???

Check out the video (above) about a 95-year-old woman who could NOT receive clearance from airport security until she removed her wet depends.

She nearly missed her flight with only two minutes to spare after security gave her the OK to board her plane.

We saw the video of that young child getting a body search! Why does TSA seem to think that adult diapers and OshKosh B'gosh jeans are legitimate security threats???

Have U ever been pulled aside by TSA for an absurd reason?

I heard it actually contained feces!

  2. 2

I thought you'd be okay with this, Perez, since you're such a leftist.

  3. 3

When I was pregnant, I got stopped at every single New York City subway checkpoint - sometimes up to 3 times a day. When I questioned the police and told them I was stopped so many times, they told me that I shouldn't be complaining because they were working for my safety. Meanwhile - everyone else who really looked like a terrorist walked right through.

  4. 4

Well Jesus, these airport people must be frustrated cops. Assholes.

Flying is a privilege NOT a right! Know what you might be in store for, be aware of the searches and procedures you might be required to go through. Knowing full well what you might be subjected to it is still YOUR CHOICE to fly! Don't start crying about it after the fact. I don't care if you're 8 or 80 this is the world we live in, deal with it or CHOOSE not to fly!

Dont write off anything or anyone. I started to believe anything as soon as i found out ppl are sticking things up their ass3s to get through security.

  7. 7

Just horrible! I know they do this for the security of our nation, but this is a violation of our rights!

  8. 8

Could be me, but better too much security, than some terrorist on board.

Re: Rohan – Shame on you. Apparently, you haven't been a caretaker or spent much time with the elderly. As someone who travels 30% via airline for work, I'd much rather sit next to a granny with a wet diaper than babies or toddlers. How horrible and humiliating this was for this 95 year old woman. She looks like a real terrorist threat to me. Here's a HUGE argument for racial profiling. Screw the PC police. I hope you never have to incur something so humiliating yourself. But if it did, you would learn that we are not living in the land of Logan's Run. Unless Obamacare passes.

  10. 10

    You know nothing about war.

the terrorist use women and children to blow things up..they believe in a different God. One that loves them for killing non-believers (that means us)

  11. 11

Re: tiggerchick5 – I haven't heard of anyone on the left expressing any such paranoid sentiments. I mean, isn't that why the left are a bunch of homo lovin', commie, pinkos? Now on the right? They are the ones who co-opted 911 for every invasion of privacy and freedom we have. Never even heard anyone associate "political paranoia" with the left.

  12. 12

Why are they not using dogs or puffer machines and save a lot of people humiliation and scans. If someone really wanted to do damage they would just have to like they did in Russia and just wait in the TSA line.

  13. 13

    Re: SadieG – ….which rights?

  14. 14

Start 'splaining, Lucy : Wow….how did you get a setting where no one can reply to you? I guess you thought your comment was really funny. It's not. When we're young, we never think that we could ever end up in a diaper. If you have family and anyone that cares about you, one day, you may in a situation where you have to change the diapers of a loved one of a loved one has to change your diapers. We all age. Unless science comes up with a miracle cure for old age and Alzheimer's, don't count yourself off the list. I hope that if you are in a situation where you have "lost control" someone will take care of you. Or under Obamabare, it's Logan's Run and we'll all be killed at age 30.

  15. 15

The sick bastards. I will never ever fly again and I haven't since they starting molesting you at the airport!!!

  16. 16

This is an absolute disgrace. my heart breaks for this woman.

  17. 17

I've went through 3 TSA searches while trying to get out of MN to CA. 3 searches for one trip. I can't chalk it up to racial profiling because my blond, fair co-worker was also subject to the same searches. Why the searches? Because we had changed airlines twice trying to get out of the airport. It took 2.5 days to get home since every search prevented us from boarding our flight.

  18. 18

Re: mer908 – I meant to type right of privacy. I'm not sure how "rights" came out. Stop being so fucking cynical.

  19. 19

Since I've been pregnant and showing, everytime i've flown I knew I needed to arrive extra early because I was going to be searched/patted down. Granted, I was always flying out of a major airport but it got old after a while. I can imagine how humiliating it would be for a 95 year old woman to have to take off her dirty diaper though. Honestly though with all of this stuff going on…my biggest complaint has not so much to do with being searched but being charged more by airlines because airports are having to hire more people to check bags because airlines started charging for luggage so more people bring carry-ons, which means more searches and more workers and instead of making the airlines eat the money, the passenger is the one being charged more. Nuts.

I think the fault lies in their training. They believe terrorists and smugglers will use children and innocent looking people.

    Re: poodlewithamohawk
I don't give a shit how humiliating it was for her or anyone else that has to go through something like this. As long as I know I'm not going to be blown up when I fly, that's all I care about. I do fly often and I have been subjected to what other people would call "questionable" searches. However again, I know this ahead of time and make the CHOICE to fly and possibly be subjected to such practices. The last thing I'm going to do is cry about a CHOICE that I made if I didn't like the outcome, Again, flying is a privilege NOT a right! Search 'em all…..

  22. 22

The issue here is that there was an elderly woman that was not being cared for. She had poop in her depends and it went unchanged by her own daughter — who didn't even have a spare diaper for her mother to change into. Talk about skewed reporting. This is a case of abuse of the elderly.

  23. 23

    Re: poodlewithamohawk
It was NOT meant to be funny. The news outlets here in NYC reported that it contained fecal matter. I was trying to be polite by not saying SHIT!

  24. 24

STFU Perez. Your flamingly gay righteous indignation is tiresome.

  25. 25

Re: Rohan – And you think that the TSA is protecting you? Thank you for my laugh out loud for the day. Cargo? You obviously don't travel via airline much. I have no sense of security because I know that the cargo has not been thoroughly checked and that racial profiling is forbidden. You think I feel comfy with a bunch of middle eastern men, not American born, surrounding me in first class? NOT!

  26. 26

There was no possible way for TSA to know that this lady wasn't kidnapped and forced to have explosives in her diaper. They just did their jobs and did it well. Don't like the rules, don't fucking fly.

  27. 27

The reason why searches like these are done is because drug dealers or terrorists will often use the old and children to get whatever they want on planes, It's the easiest way to avoid suspicion. I don't agree completely with the searches that are being done but under certain circumstances, some one could have been using this innocent old lady as a mule thinking she would be the least likely person to be stopped by airport security.

  28. 28

Fit more explosives in an adult diaper then the underwear bomber can fit in his severa years back. Terrorist are going to be delivered attack through the most un-suspecting means than anyone could ever imagine.

  29. 29

JFC, what a bunch of sheep are posting on this issue. So, you think it's OK if the police raid your home at any time just to make sure that you're not a terrorist? And the government can view all of you email, at any time to keep terrorism in check? So, we should be exposed to harmful radiation to a strip search to get on a flight? I agree that we have a choice to get on a flight but if you travel as part of your job, you do not have a choice. I ain't goin' to Disneyland. Rather quickly, the government is eating away at our rights. Are you willing to get chipped? It's the next thing on the agenda.

  30. 30

i have been pulled to the side when i was 8 months pregnant, i had to lift my shirt so they could scan it….

  31. 31

The problem here is not the TSA, it's the passengers complaining about extra security, and forgetting the number of lives that were lost 10 years ago because of relaxed security. Sure the TSA isn't perfect, and may search someone who doesn't appear to be a terrorist, but I'd sure as hell rather have them be wrong after having ensured that each passenger isn't going to recreate a 9/11. Terrorists are still trying to penetrate our system for another attack, and the elderly and children are prime suspects that can be used by terrorists because of the stipulation held by many that they shouldn't be subjected to any kind of search.

This woman wasn't unfairly treated or abused by the TSA..they took her to a private screening room where they discovered her soiled diaper, and upon finding it had the daughter change it herself away from security in the restroom. They didn't make her drop her pants in the middle of the security line and publicly humiliate her. If nothing else, the passenger didn't have to travel however many hours in a plane with a soiled diaper, saving her real humiliation on a plane when every passenger is subjected to smelling it in a compressed cabin, looking at her as the culprit.

  32. 32

And the argument that the TSA is to blame for almost making her miss her flight…I feel the daughter is to blame here. I understand her concern and frustration with the situation, but you're flying out of a major international airport in the Miami metro area with a 95 year old woman who is in a wheel chair, who is obviously requiring assistance, and is prone situations like what happened today in her diaper. GET THERE SOONER!! The airlines advise passengers check in 2 hours prior to any flights out of major airports, ensuring enough time for situations like this. Passengers don't want to heed that warning, arrive just in time for check-in, and blame TSA when they get held up in security. If the daughter wants to play the caring for her mother card, why doesn't she care a little more next time and leave sooner to prevent this situation. I'm pretty sure the 95 year old mother wasn't the one who made them late to the airport…

    Re: Team Kim Richards
You're an idiot…how's that for bullying?

YOU obviously know nothing about war or religions…or much of anything for that matter. I don't know what your motives are, if you are just a little trolly, but in the event that you are an actual human being, you are making yourself sound so stupid. Please go educate yourself or at the very least read a book.

    34

    Re: poodlewithamohawk
Great retort, naive moron! Next time you fly you are given three choices….A. You can get on flight that NOBODY was searched, B. You can get on a flight that EVERYONE was searched, or C. You can get on a flight that they only seacrhed people who are "visually" deemed as a threat by profiling. You'll probably reply with the answer of A only to make your argument (or lack there of) more palatable, however that will only reinforce how stupid you've already made yourself out to be. Done with you, next…..

  35. 35

Re: Team Kim Richards – Yeaaaaah…. because that old woman totally looks like a muslim somewhat arab terrorist. Ofc. And must be arab!, cause if its from Malasya or Singapoure, they wont get searched. IT MUST be arab.

  36. 36

The TSA and the USA have totally gone too far with this airport security stuff! They need to take a serious look at what Israel does and perhaps copy them. While I don't approve of Israel politics-wise, I do applaud the way they do airport security and amazingly it is way less expensive than what the USA (and Canada from what I'm hearing) pays for all those stupid body scanners and hire inexperienced people to pat down 95-year old adults and 4-year old children. Uber FAIL!

  37. 37

Re: cfaulk – Thank you for providing information. I don't know the specifics of this case. I 'm assuming that you are associated with the airline business. It's always good to get the other side of the story. I have traveled for business for years. It used to be a quick, easy and even a relaxing experience. 9/11 changed everything. But I think that that the government over-reacted. And the removal of racial profiling is a joke. I talk to other business travelers often, and I do not hear concerns about a bomb on the plane. Most of us are relaxed. But most of us agree that there should be racial profiling. As ugly as it sounds, it makes sense.

  38. 38

I love how an earlier post of a news article last week of a un-suspecting 8yo was march into a police command in afghanistan last week, and remotely detonated was censored out. But all in all these invasive TSA security screening have been going on for years. And making news for years. And all these crybabies are still buying tickets. IF YOU DONT WANT A WORSE CASE SCENARIO AND A FULL STRIP AND BODY CAVITY SEARCH….THEN DO NOT FLY! plain and simple

  39. 39

Racial profiling is very much still in place. Different than it used to be and less publicized, but it is still used daily. However, racial profiling alone isn't enough to protect our country as 9/11 showed, which is why they have implemented the system that they have. Is it frustrating and inconvenient? Absolutely, I hate having to go through the extra hassle myself. But I'd much rather go through that and know that this process gives me and the rest of the country the best chance of safety. The threat of another attack like 9/11 is very real, and as frustrating as it may be, the government isn't going to be caught with their pants down like they did 10 years ago.
Despite the rise in prices, airlines do know of the inconvenience that security causes passengers, and we are trained to make each passengers travel experience as enjoyable as possible once they are within control of their respective airline. (I know that not all airline workers follow their training, but comfort for the passenger is taught to be mandatory, second to safety).

  40. 40

THis is infuriating! F the TSA! How can they think this poor old woman was a threat, and put her through such an undignified search?!?! This country has gone to shit.

  41. 41

    Re: tiggerchick5

Really? I thought YOU would love it since you are a conservative and hate America.

  43. 43

What is even more disturbing is if you watch the news people are always putting drugs on teh elderly and on children because they are not targets. EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE TO BE CHECKED!! If she smuggled on a knife and her daughter stabbed someone then people would be like… why didnt they check for anything!!

    Two words…..learn to fuckin' read!

  45. 45

While I agree it could have been handled better, there really is no such thing as 'looking' like a threat. Anyone and everyone is subject to the same security searches, just because you're old (or young) doesn't mean you should be passed by. It annoys me when people bitch about airport security. I would rather they were too strict rather than let a 'threat' on a plane.

  46. 46

Re: radiodiva – you mentioned that they let "everyone else who really looked like a terrorist walk right through" please fill me in, what did those terrorist looking people actually look like?

  47. 47

luvs2tango, oh my god, i'm so sorry you had to go through this.

  48. 48

Why not mention that TSA released a statement saying they never asked her to do that? Perhaps this broad is lying to get attention, which she has clearly gotten.

  49. 49

she had on a "soiled diaper" and the people with her did not have a clean one to put on her? If someone kept a baby in a soiled diaper everyone would be calling child protective services. Who was traveling with this poor soul? Seems like a story that should be about elder abuse and got to be about TSA searchs!!!!

  50. 50

The reason this kind of stuff keeps happening is because we let it. If more people who be outraged with things like this then maybe we can get some changes. There is not a single case of anyone blowing up a plane. Hijacking and flying it into a building…yes. blowing up the plane no! Why are we the only country who feels this is necessary. Try racial profiling I'm all for it and I'm middle eastern! But granny here with the dirty diaper isn't going to blow up anything but that diaper.

  51. 51

Okay, this won't be the popular point of view but here goes anyway: As offensive as this sounds, as humiliating as it very likely was for this poor old lady, the reason the airport security does it is so that the evil bastards that are out there plotting away on how to create another 911 or blow a plane out of the sky will now that EVERYONE is checked so there's no point in getting an old lady or a little kid (like the one that blew up a mall in the middle east). That little kid was very likely an innocent who had been tricked too. The bad guys ARE bad! And the good guys suffer for it, but at least they won't get blown up.

  52. 52

OH and let me also state, follow up articles and interviews with the daughter….the daughter re-canted and said it was HER (THE DAUGHTERS) idea to have the diaper removed, to speed up the process. And I do believe in in a interview i heard live first hand on CNN, the the TSA agents were courteous and professional. This stupid Perez Hilton needs to stick to celebrity gossip and stay the F away from real non-celebrity new/gossip.

  53. 53

Re: Kwheezy – Im confused….Team Kim RIchards is actually very correct in what she said. 8 yo muslim girl un-knowingly to carrying a a bomb in her back pack into a Afghan police precinct just last week. You think this is a muslim only issue, ,terrorism? Let me hear you tell that to the Irish in Ireland whom the Irish Republican Army (mainly Christian) are going around blowing everything up.

    54

the TSA's could actually be considered terrorists because they terrorize innocent people as well, just in a different way.

  55. 55

I cannot stand to hear ppl support the invasive unconstitutional searches of the TSA, Securiy should be left up to the airlines. Our govt needs to BTFO! Anyone who knows about radiation knows the scanners for one, don't even detect the "dangers" they claim they can. Also, they are harmful and I will not go through one. I know what I am talking about, I study radiation for a living as an Industrial Hygienist/RSO. The invasive pat down are prohibited by the 4th amndmt of the Consitution. These unreasonable searches do not make us safer. You are more likely to die in a car accident, from a food allergy, or a bee sting than from a "terrorist". The real terrorist are the dirty politicians.

  56. 56

    4th ammendment ppl.

  57. 57

usaians are insane this woman should sue

i would rather take my chances getting blown up than force a old lady to remove her diaper

    sick sick sick!!!!!!!

  58. 58

So I guess that for someone who is into Elder Abuse and Child Molestation being a TSA employee is the ideal job! Read this earlier and made me sick… still makes me sick. You fail to mention the poor 6 year old girl was crying while they molested her; all in the name of "security".

  59. 59

How many terrorists have you heard being caught after a search? I went through LaGuardia and Denver airport with a knife in my purse. No sweat. Right through.

  61. 61

While I understand the point that is trying to be made, I find it terrible that people are reporting this story. How do you think that woman feels knowing that it has been made public news? I am positive that it was a horrifying enough of an experience for her…I can only imagine the embarrassment she must feel. Peoples lives are more than news stories. She is going to have to live with this now. We will all forget…but it has scared her for the rest of her time.

  62. 62

A month ago, Taliban used an 8 YEAR OLD as a suicide bomber. Do not underestimate what kind of fucked up, tragic world we live in.

  63. 63

And why didnt ANYONE bring a clean diaper for this woman??? She was gonna sit in soiled diaper for hours?? How fucked up is that?

    64

Re: Ast – Really? Have you not watched the news were they use children and women to blow themselves up? They use these kind of people because you would not think that they would do something like that. This is the world we live in and you can't have it both ways. You will be mad when someone blows up an airport and I bet you would say that there should have been more securtiy. But when they put in more security you cry about that. Grow up and look at the world for what it is. I would much rather there be more security then have some crazy person trying to blow up the airport.

  65. 65

Re: Rohan – Just go ahead and give your rights away then. No big deal. Let them search you. Let them cook up some bull shit security excuse to do it. Fuck. What's wrong with you!?

  66. 66

You guys make me so angry! There are only like three sane people in this whole discussion! You're all really going to just roll over and give our rights away like that? This is horribly intrusive and VERY unnecessary. There are much better procedures that could be followed. SInce when was it okay to just ignore our rights? You guys are LETTING them walk all over them. It's time we say that we've had enough!

  67. 67

It is nothing about rights when people seem to forget what happened 10 years ago. I feel alot of people have a false sense of hope, thinking that our country will protect us because we know some threats and we are taking care of them. Does anyone know that Osama's successor is just as hell bent on destroying America? They got into our country once and I guarantee that they will try again. God forbid they actually do but we can't sit here and go back to the way things are. We have multiple battles with other countries we have pissed off. It is sad that we have to go through these heinous searches but what if that women did have something? How many people would be saying "oh it went against her rights". Sure she is harmless but we cannot go back to the way things were. Hopefully one day we will able to have a secure procedure but right now, we can't be too careful.

  68. 68

Re: Mel354 – We say we had enough and the next thing you know, we will have another 9-11. You and many other people seem to think that it won't happen again and that we got "all of the bad guys". What if that women was being used and had things? Would you be saying the searches are against her rights?

  69. 69

You know it's unfortunately and SAD that these times call for such measures but you know what, if I was on that flight I'd want ALL pre-cautions taken no matter what. I'm sure everyone who thinks it's disgusting forgets how reliant they are on airport security to ensure they are safe! Suck it up and be glad that flight landed SAFELY!

  70. 70

Re: radiodiva – How can you look like a terrorist? A terrorist would try to blend in with everyone, not stand out so your logic has failed.
And to be honest booking a flight you know that they can do these things, if you hate the thought of that then just don't fly. And yes drug dealers will put drugs on the vulnerable because they look unsuspecting, of course it's low but they will do it so people must be checked.
Re: Team Kim Richards – from what I gather from your posts you wouldn't be adverse to killing 'non-believers'…

  71. 71

Re: tiggerchick5 – seriously shut the fuck up, you idiotic girl.

  72. 72

Re: SadieG – well when you get blown up because some SMART terrorist put it on an old woman, I'm sure you are going to be real worried about your "rights".

  73. 73

Re: seriouslyjumpoffacliff – Fuck you asshole. If you read all the comments, you would have noticed that I corrected myself. I meant to say "rights to privacy." Piss off.

  74. 74

I only created this username to comment on this article because of the incredibly stupid comments I read on this article. Let's begin. First off for those of you that say "They are doing this for your safety. If you don't like it don't fly." I can't wait until the TSA starts working in your local malls and other public place. Because guess what? They will be if they aren't stopped at the airports. What then? Oh well if you don't like it don't leave your house? Get informed and read something besides CNN and Perez Hilton before you even bother writing anything because you make no sense. Secondly, those sweet little backscatter x-ray machines that protect our safety so much actually give people cancer. Oh you didn't know that? Look it up. TSA workers themselves are getting cancer but you won't see that on your regular media outlets so it must not be true. If some of you woke up and got tired of getting your dick grabbed or radiation pumped into your body then maybe things would change. "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."-Ben Frankiln

  75. 75

Re: TonySea – Ok, well I'd rather be searched then having someone take my plane and drive it into the nearest skyscraper. Read my comments above. I am no where for this security measures but it is necessary precautions.

  76. 76

Re: yeaman – You mean the like "Alqueda" type terrorists that were hired and are currently hired by the U.S. Govt in Lybia? Yea we wouldn't want those crazy people on the planes. That would be like the ATF sending weapons to Mexican drug cartels that murder thousands of families including babies and women. That would just be crazy.

  77. 77

rules are rules. better safe than sorry.
