Babies Being Banned From First Class Section During Flights!

| Filed under: Baby BlabberWacky, Tacky & TrueEtc.

Inneresting, and we imagine VERY controversial!

Malaysia Airlines has reportedly decided to ban infants from the first class section of its Boeing 747-400 jet, as well as the new A380 super-jumbo jet, after complaints from passengers who had trouble sleeping on flights due to the cries of children!

According to CEO and Managing Director Tengku Amil:

"Also hv many complaints from 1st class pax dat dey spend money on 1st class & can't sleep due to crying infants."

Travelers with babies on routes from Kuala Lumpur to Amsterdam, London and Sydney will now have to buy tickets in business or economy class, which will be only areas available equipped with bassinets!

We understand that people spend a lot of money to fly in luxury…but shouldn't parents who can afford it also have that same luxury with their children?

Crying babies can certainly be frustrating, but hey! Sometimes it's just a part of traveling!

Get some headphones and take a xanax chill pill!

What do U think?? Should babies be banned from first class?

Children are without a doubt the most victumized and discriminated group of people on the planet. If it wasn't for child welfare laws they would have nobody looking out for their rights.

  2. 2

Very fair! People pay good money for a first class seat, only to have the experience spoiled by a kid crying or parents that can't control their brats. I say also ban them from business class!

  3. 3

You posted this last night or this morning. Why again? None of us like traveling with babies, especially when we're paying for first class. And I'm a parent.

  4. 4

it's about time. Hopefully other airlines will follow, and cinema's and exclusive restaurants and pubs. I like babies but there are certain places where they do not belong.

  5. 5

I'm all for the Ban. Having children should not be other peoples burden. When you are paying upwards to 800% + more then economy class for the "LUXURY", that should also include free from other passengers (including infants and small children) invading your personal satisfaction. Airline usually never allow "OPTIONS" of childless flights and if I were to travel long flights, I wouldn't want some taking away from my personal choice for peace and quiet. Bravo to this airline for this bold move. I could care a less about who's being victimized or discriminated against. Why should people suffer…wouldn't they be considered victims too. Victims who don't have a choice. It;s not like you can't have children on the plane, just a section were people pay to have total peace and quiet.

  6. 6

I travel frequently and nothing is more exhausting than hearing a lazy Mother or Father barely trying to console their screaming spawn. I swear some of these parents think their child is just adorable and allow them to disturb the crap out of the passengers. Well here's a heads up, we don't ever think your kid is cute. I can sympathize when the parent is doing all they can to keep their child quiet, but it's the other 50 percent that allow their kids to yell, cry, scream and disrupt an otherwise pleasant flight. THOSE are the kids that should be put down in the carrier with the luggage, along with the parents. If your paying 1st Class there is a reason for it.

  7. 7

    Say it isn't so!

  8. 8

I'm paying 5,000 dollars for a seat, i don't want no damn crying babies around me.
It is very fair and trust me, I would sue for my money back if my First Class flight wasn't first class.

Even with headphones and sleeping pills I couldn't sleep with a baby crying even though the baby was many rows back. I say make a first class section for families in the back and a first class without kids or noise in the front. Because that is a certain kind of hell, especially when you're flying international.

  10. 10

Children should ABSOLOUTELY be banned from 1st class. You pay extra to get extra and make the flight more comfortable. Screaming bratty children and infants do not make for an enjoyable flight.

  12. 12

Imagine shelling out $10,000 for first class and listening to a screaming baby the whole time.
Don't get me wrong - kids are innocent and beautiful, but they shouldn't be in restaurants/first class if they can't behave or aren't old enough. When they develop the ability to quietly sit down with adults, God willing, they should be able to sit with their parents in first class.

  13. 13

I definitely agree with banning babies in first class, people pay a fortune to get the luxury, why have crying babies ruin it? that wouldn't be a first class treatment. parents who are considerate would actually refuse to get first class tickets to ruin things for others. Sometimes when I go to restaurant and trying to enjoy my meal and there is always this one baby that cries every 2 minutes, I get annoyed, let alone in an airplane that you have to be on for 10 hours with nowhere to run.

  14. 14

Good. With these parents now a days that let the children control them, style them, make most of the career decisions in life with little if any disipline then unfortunately this is what it has to come to. Adults mustn't infringe their choice to have unruly kids destroy another passenger's flight. Trat it like people smoking in the cabin when you don't want to breathe it. Be fair peeps either that or bring kids that have been taught good manners whilst flying in first class. Sure they would be quite welcome then.

  15. 15

I hate to say this but as a mother I strongly agree with this new rule. When I go out with my kids I don't put the burden on other people. They shouldn't have to deal with it and neither should I have to deal with other kids. It's getting out of hand and some parents out there don't give a damn. The kids might be discriminated but it's the parents fault alone. Education starts at home NOT in school, daycare, or a damn airplane in the sky! My kids know better and I make sure they behave and would like other parents to stop being lazy and pick up their slack too.

  16. 16

Love it! Although will hate cattle class more now (economy). Wish more carriers would do it.

  17. 17

Re: pradagirl7 – Exactly. To all parents with unruly kids,PLEASE refer to pradagirl's post. She is class AND is in control of the kids. Kids need parents not parents who are the best friends who are also terrified at making the kid mad at them. So insane the new children are boss rulz.

  18. 18

I think if you have a problem, you fix it. He did. Good job.

  19. 19

Good. Theres something about air flights these days that seems to make parents believe they are absolved of controlling their kids. The only thing worse than unruly brats are the ones who are obviously down with some communicable illness they seem intent on hacking across the airwaves - and their parents just sit there as if its someone else's problem.

  20. 20

give me a break…they aren't being denied seats, just not seats in first class!! If you are paying for a first class seat, you are paying for the separation from the noise/close quarters/etc. of the rest of the airplane. There is nothing worse than sitting next to a screaming baby for an entire flight, and if I paid to sit in first class I would be pretty pissed off.

  21. 21

This may be one of the smartest business moves that I have heard of all year! Think about it- Not only will the folks that normally get first class be happier, but people that normally don't have the cash for it might be willing to shell out if they know that it will be infant free!!The only thing I wonder is what age a child has to be (according to the airline) to not be considered an infant anymore??? 'Cause I wouldn't want to put out the money just to turn around and find out that 2 years olds can still bug the crap out of me. In my opinion, it should be at least 4 or 5 years of age.

  22. 22

Please this is so dumb, then what about loud and obnoxious adults that fly are you going to ban them too? I have been on a couple of flights where ADULTS are so loud mouth the whole dam flight are you going to say next big mouth adults no flying in first class for you? And who the hell is paying 10k for a first class ticket if you got money like that fly in a private jet! I say if a parent with a child wants to enjoy first class they should first class isnt meant for quiet its meant for more space.

  23. 23

Oh and news flash for all you idiots with the comments how kids should be banned YOU CAN HEAR A SCREAMING CHILD THATS IN COACH IN FIRST CLASS. lol So dumb to think that a screaming kid in coach cant be heard in first class its a curtain seperating you duhhhhhh

  24. 24

The purpose of me paying thousands of dollars to be away from the crying kids. If you're going to be bringing your kids and ruin my sleep then you should save urself some money and stick to the economy. Just because you have kids that don't mean you get any lead way. Be considerate of others. Ban it!

  25. 25

Re: Sweeteey51 – Private jets are a hell of a lot more expensive to maintain, especially with the cost of fuel these days. Many private owners are downgrading or selling their private planes due to the economy. Adults are different from wailing babies. They understand the repercussions when it comes to disobeying flight attendants. Next time you encounter that deplorable situation, don't hesitate to alert one of the flight attendants.

  26. 26

I say, chlorofrom the little bastards!
Yeah, I know. Tasteless. Couldn't help myself.
I blame alcohol, being imprisoned in the house due to 100 degree weather and Nancy Grace and all talking heads on HLN, for this outburst.

  27. fku says – reply to this

Obviously the ****wads leaving ignorant comments have no kids. It also appears that many of you crustya** lickers have forgotten you were once a baby yourself.

  28. 28

So let me get this straight…

If you are paying for one ticket

And the parents pay for two and half or Three tickets,

    Then should be banned?

This is a discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen. NEWSFLASH–YOU WERE ONCE A BABY TOO! What is wrong with you idiots?
You TOO were once embarrassing your mother & father, and weren't born fully formed adults.

    GROW UP!

  29. 29

"Children are without a doubt the most victumized and discriminated group of people on the planet. If it wasn't for child welfare laws they would have nobody looking out for their rights." …like a kids rights are really being offended by not being allowed in first class? Should child welfare take on this battle? kids are way too spoiled these days anyway so I think it's about time someone did something to keep them out of my face! Try walking down an aisle at the grocery store or down the street with all the new jumbo sized baby carriages and out of control kids running around in circles while the rest of us are just supposed to move out of the way! bow down to the children and the parents, well I'm done.

  30. 30

Re: G Is for Giggles – So what? Everyone else pays to sit in first class. If you're implying the family is paying more because they have children, your argument is weak. Economically, it's more beneficial for the airliner to rule in the majority's favor (the people who most likely have to listen to the screams). That's why certain resorts designate specific areas for adults only. And by the way, I don't sit in first class.

  31. 31

Ban kids all together. Force parents to road trip with their cro+ch droppings and maybe it will change their attitudes on how to better discipline their children. And for those that did choose to procreate and put more people on this already over populated planet, we don't care about you or your kids and no we don't think everything they do is cute. So STFU with it already. Kids should be limited to parks and McDonald's. Everywhere else, not.

  32. 32

nevermind babies screaming, because as others pointed out you can hear them throughout the entire plane…and if they're not in first class, then they're in economy with me, and hell if i want that!!!

I think what should be enforced is HYGIENE!!!! people who smell awful or seem dirty should be refused entry to the plane…i do not want to sit next to some smelly east indian guy who is burping farting and picking his nose throughout a 9.5 hour flight…if that seems racist it's not, it was a personal experience, and the truth isn't racist. The man smelled of body odour and was behaving in an unhygienic manner throughout the whole flight….was absolutely disgusting. I don't care what you have paid, NO ONE should be forced to sit next to THAT.

i find that much more bothersome than a screaming child, because if i am really really tired, i will fall asleep in the middle of a night club with music blasting. Children are everywhere, unfortunately, just put your earphones on and watch a movie…if they kick your seat repeatedly, turn around and glare at them and tell them if they kick your seat again you're going to kick THEM. Threats of violence usually work on children. :)

  33. 33

Re: Sweeteey51 – Says the freak with a Mickey Mouse avatar. Are you sure you're not a child? Well maybe in the head…

  34. 34

LOLLLLLL !!! Where do you live Perez ??? This is already active for almost all the companies …. Families are not allowed in 1st … This is a fact and normal for people who pay the highest price. How is that so discriminant ? By trying to defend equality rights for almost all categories of people, you are becoming ridiculous ! :p

  35. 35

Ok, on the surface it sounds mean and discriminatory. But I recently paid $15,000. for a RT ticket Seattle to the Canary Islands. A good deal of the trip was absolutely unbearable due to unruly and uncontrolled children of a couple in first class. The cabin personnel kindly let me go back to coach to sleep. For this I spent so much money? Outrageous. I wouldn't think of submitting my children's behavior to the other passengers. I'm all for supporting some adult-only seating, whether it be first class or elsewhere in the plane. Come on parents — be a little reasonable and considerate. One day you might like a calm and peaceful trip, as well.

  36. 36

Good. They should all be turfed out the airplane door. Actually its not the kids its the parents that should go. Others should not have to suffer a flight along side a screaming brat.

  37. 37

I agree that banning CHILDREN in first class is a must.. but I thought they already did that. My father flies for Delta and my brothers and I were not allowed to sit in First Class till we were about the age of 10. This is old news.

  38. 38

Babies and noisey todlers should be banned from flying in airplanes all together. They belong in cargo… To include shrill Soccer Moms… They should not impose on others unless they pay for everyone elses passenger seats….

  39. 39

Bravo Malaysia Airlines. Children shouldn't be in first class. If they're too young to behave they shouldn't be on a plane at all. Having children means making sacrifices. It does not mean that you can live your life as if you don't have children and subject everyone around you to their obnoxious behavior. Plenty of us don't have children and we don't enjoy yours.

  40. 40

I would rather fly with a screaming baby than the lot of you complaining. You are the rude ones who fling your seat back all the way without regard for the person behind you. Throw your crap all over not caring there is someone sitting next to you. Play your Ipod too loud thinking we all must want to hear what you are listening to. Ate way too much for last 10 years so your bulges are falling into my seat. You don't know how to say excuse me when you get up. Give me the crying baby over you any day. You get off the plane!

  41. 41

God I hate screaming babies and kids. So annoying!

  42. 42

Thank God … it's annoying to pay all the extra cash that you do to actually ENJOY your travel experience only to have some wailing child in the seat next to you. Good move (for once) airlines!

  43. Sabbz says – reply to this

This is absolutly fantastic. Best move I've heard of since that mother was kicked off a plane because he banshee of a child was disturbing passangers. I hope other companies follow this Malaysian one.

  44. 44

If parents would control and discipline their children today things like this wouldn't happen. There should be a seperate section away from others for the screaming and out of control brats. Airlines, restaurants, theaters etc. We are paying for our services and shouldn't be annoyed by the little ones that are in control of their parents. I go grocery shopping and could just cringe listening to the brats screaming and I mean screaming at a high pitch cuz they are not happy about something. I have seen 3 or 4 year olds slapping their parents across the face and the parents say nothing. This is all wrong. Either seperate them or put them on seperate flights and let the parents pay extra for that.

  45. 45

Re: pradagirl7 – Amen, sister! I have two children who were taught from the time they were babies that there are many places where they are to be quiet and respectful. I work in an office where there are visits from unruly children at times, and one of my co-workers said, "I like it when your kids visit. They behave like little human beings. They are always so polite and grateful and quiet." I've had many people ask me how I "get" them to do that. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! It's called "teaching your kid how to behave in the world." I have happy well-adjusted children that are welcome everywhere they go. The only shame about this airline rule is that it would keep kids like ours out, when they don't deserve it. But as a passenger who is often witness to wild, out-of-control kids who are never parented, I say, "You go, airline!"

  46. 46

Thank heavens. If you have a fear of flying, it's bad enough to have to have to fly, but to pay a lot of money to be in 1st class and to hear a child screaming while you're trying to stay calm just brings you over the edge. I had the same thing when I was flying home from London. A 2 year old boy was running around and screaming the whole flight. I wanted to rip his head off.

  47. 47

Good call on this airlines part. I would be screaming louder than the kiddo, had i purchased a first class sit and had to listen to a baby scream at any given point. pff…not cool, not cool at all.

  48. 48

Re: Lopez Hyatt – Okay, maybe you've never spent 5 minutes with a child, but sometimes you're doing ALL YOU CAN and they're just upset. It's no reflection on the parenting. I say we ban asses like you from the world.

  49. 49

I agree with this ban. I hate when little brats run around making noises and just acting plain stupid for attention, and the parents don't do anything. It's not your f*cking house, take care of your kids you lazy, no-good parents!

  50. 50

GOOD!! Breeders are not the only ones with rights.

  51. 51

Hallelujah! Except… I was on BA FC to London and there was a baby in the class behind me - heard that brat for 10 hours straight! I think there should be flights for families and flights for adults only. I have had waaaaayyy too many flights ruined because of someone's disgusting, booger-eating brat!

  52. 52

Well if I'd paid all that money I'd be pissed off at their incessant noise too…some parents just can't control their kids.

  53. 53

Re: Sweeteey51 – you can tell them to shut up, you can't exactly reason with infants…

  54. 54

I think babies should be banned from first, business, and coach. Flying with a baby on board is the most disruptive experience a passanger can have on a plane. Flying with a baby means unpleasant smells (vomit, feces, formula, and food), unpleasant sounds (crying, screaming, babbling), and unpleasant movement (fidgeting or the movement of parents.) One unhappy baby can impact the comfort of 100 paying passangers. Why is this fair? Why is this good business? May I suggest building a "cry room" on planes? What about soundproofer baby compartments overhead? What about baby only flights? Better yet, why not require parents with babies to provide a $100 voucher for every passanger forced to put up with their baby? That would solve the problem immediately.

Congratulations to Malaysia Airlines for making a great business decision. Let's hope the other airlines follow suit.

  55. 55

Re: fku – Actually I am a parent and let me tell you something, not everyone in this world likes being in airplanes with kids #FACT. When my child was an infant I didn't take my child on a plane knowing damn well It was going to cause others hardship. People have the right to pay for peace and quiet. Too many people don't understand that. First Class has standards and this airline determined that means NO KIDS! Get over it! I respect that AS A PARENT!

  56. 56

    LOVE IT!

  57. 57

How stupid can people be ?? I raised two children and had the brians to realize babies had NO PLACE , in airplanes , restaurants not made for kids and movie theatres PERIOD . STUPID parents who force thier screaming kids on the rest of us should be fined for doing so . It does not matter if YOUR liitle devil just will never do such a thing .Without fortune tellers , The ONLY way to insure people are not tortured is BAN THEM or give them their own infant airlines so they can all torture each other .YOU HAD THE KID AND YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR PLANS AS NEEDED NOT FORCE YOUR SMELLY SCREAM BOXES ON OTHERS . ITS CALLED THE COST OF HAVING CHILDREN FOR YOU , NOT OUR COST TO PUT UP WITH IT .KEEP THEM OF COACH AS WELL, OR LOCK THEM IN A SOUND PROOF AREA .BAN BAN BAN BAN ,THE FASTER THE BETTER .
