Branching out! Good for her!

Alicia Keys is poised to make her Broadway producing debut with Lydia R. Diamond's debut play Stick Fly. After a bit of a tour, the show will be premiering on Broadway in the fall, starting previews of November 18th.

Stick Fly, according to producers, "follows the LeVays, an affluent African American family who come together to spend a summer weekend at their Martha’s Vineyard home. The adult sons, aspiring novelist Kent and golden boy plastic surgeon Flip, have each brought their respective ladies (one Black and one White) to meet the parents. Food, drink and Trivial Pursuit tangle with class, race and identity politics in this contemporary comedy of manners."

Alicia spoke highly of the production in her own statement, saying:

"This is a story that everybody can relate to. I'm passionate about this play because it is so beautifully written and portrays Black America in a way that we don't often get to see in entertainment. I know it will touch all audiences, who will find a piece of themselves somewhere inside this house."

We wish you the best of luck with it, darling! Sounds like a powerful piece that will surely draw in the theater lovers and more than a handful of your fans!

Think U might check out the show once it hits the Great White Way???

This sounds great, but I wonder how the play will end. Might it end with the message that ultimately we are all racist towards blacks, even blacks shock horror, but obviously whites are more racist. Damn if only we could love Africans a little more!!!!!

#1 - Alicia seemingly forgets she's half white, raised by a white woman - Alicia doesn't "uplift" white people……nope, only the blacks (here's an idea, uplift human kind in general)
#2 - Calling black people African American is stupid - I don't call myself European American and if I did, I'd sound like a fucken idiot.

Why can't we all just get along. Think about all the good thinks that Africans have given the world. All the inventions and medical breakthroughs. The scientific discoveries and innovations.
God , I wish I was an African too. Especially an African who lives in Africa.

What I would like to know is, how on Earth does she play piano in those stilettos?? That is amazing.

Politicians , economists and NGO's all agree that Africa is corrupt. Can I suggest that the elephants are not sticking things up their jumpers and the Giraffes don't have sticky fingers . That the problem is not that the African streams and rivers are robbing. The problem with Africa is, and always has been, Africans.
Let's stop treating thieves like naughty children .

As if her music wasn't boring enough now this. What a yawnfest this will be. She is as crazy as Halle Berry

I saw a production of this last year in Boston, and it's excellent! I'm glad Alicia Keys is helping the play/playwright get some deserved recognition.
