How is this not fucking cool? this is one of the best things i've seen an actor do. Finbally the filth is being adddressed on the village voice, COOL! TOTALLY COOL!!@
as a New Yorker i've always been appalled myself at the escort ads in the voice and i totally agree with ashton kutcher. Yay! you go man! I love it and now you have a new great fan! Perez hilton, I'm getting so sick of your whorey ways. Fuck you, whore.

The work he is doing is important and great… but his tweets come off as immature and belligerent. He needs to channel some Nelson Mandela to really be heard here.

  3. 3

What a retard. He used to be a model which is basically two steps from an escort. Models-> Porn Star -> Escort.

Whether it's 100,000 girls or 100 girls that are child prostitutes, it's too many. The Village Voice seems to blame Ashton Kutcher alone for a potentially untrue statistic, but then reports that the same statistic is used by many legitimate news sources yet you don't see them blasting CNN the way they are Ashton Kutcher. Even if they don't like the “Real Men” campaign, I don't see how they can fault anyone for bringing such a disturbing problem to the forefront of our nation's consciousness. I don't particularly like Ashton Kutcher or his wife, but I admire him for using his celebrity to call attention to this. I have a friend who was lured into prostitution, and it is a serious, legitimate problem in our country.

oh please real men don't cheat on their wives…and picked them up at bowling alley bars…Jeez man just shut -up!!! you are not one to preach!!!!

  6. 6

Uh no. He is totally not out of line. Go Ashton!

"there's got to be a better way to make a point than attacking a publication over a social networking site"
i don't think so. he made his point and brought publicity to his cause. sounds like a good way to go about things

The real issue is underage prostitution and forced prostitution (slavery). The police are the ones who should be investigating, not the Village Voice. Should a newspaper investigate every ad? Prostitution between consenting adults should not be a crime.

    Go Ashton!!! Good for him!!!!

  10. 10

It's about time that someone in Hollywood sheds light on this global epidemic. Not a big fan of him, usually, but he just went up a couple of notches!

    Way to go Ashton!

Please Perez, spare me. Why is it when it doesn't revolve around GaGa, Gay rights or yourself, you find something wrong with it? You always mange to turn it into something negative. Fake and biased. That will get you far in life. And as for Ashton I think he has a good intention, he supports a great organization and stands for great things. Let's hope he can help this situation. Human trafficking is disgusting.

    Re: pollopicu

You are a stupid cun*t. This is how he met that old slut he's now married to.

  13. 13

Funny how he wasn't thinking too much about his own foundation when he shot his sex comedy - "No Strings Attached" - which actively promotes casual sex in all its forms. He should really get over himself.

  14. 14

Grow the F@#!% up Ashton your rants are a bunch of BS you have NO IDEA the great strides VVM is making WITH the NCMEC to make sure these ads are not hurting anyone. Escorts have been doing their thing since before recorded time and NOTHING you or anyone else does will change that… it will just go farther underground thus creating a far more dangerous situation.

  15. 15

AHHHHHH, he should just get over himself already.
Just because he's been fucking Rumor for who knows how fucking long, he shouldn't pass judgement on the business practices of media outlets just providing the same casual relief outlets as he's been experiencing in private.

Human trafficing is disgusting. It destroys the lives of thousands of young girls and women every year who are forced into prostitution and made to endure unspeakable horrors. I'm glad someone like Ashton Kutcher with a high public profile and a strong voice is speaking out against it and those that facilitate it. It isn't wrong to get angry about human trafficing, it's good, we should all be angry and we should all be speaking out against it.

That was awesome and it's amazing what power you can have when you know you're speaking the truth.

  18. 18

does this twat do anything other than "tweet" ?

Are the ads consenting adults or are they under age? Some women and men choose all on their own to pay their rent that way; it's not called the world's oldest profession for nothing. Not everyone can score work on a sitcom. Involuntary and under age trafficking is a whole other ballgame, and he has major cojones going after them on that, so props.

  20. 20

    Go Ashton!
Sorry but I have to say he's spot on. Some escorts are consenting but a good portion of them were forced into this. He shouldn't apologize for what he said.

  21. 21

    Re: @v@ – EXACTLY…

  22. 22

Re: @v@ – But there is no proof that human trafficers use main stream media for marketing young girls the people coming up with all of the stats have no real hard numbers and are using CL & BP as a dart board target, these women have the right to make a living. Since man made fire and woman needed warmth there was a trade for companionship, get real!

  23. 23

Good for him. That section always astounded me.

  24. 24

how is using a social networking site to battle against the evil that is going on in this world a bad thing? KUDOS to ashton for taking action!!! speaking up for defenseless children used for sex toys is beyond admirable, everyone needs to stop looking the other way & take action themselves, how this inhumane treatment is allowed in any part of the world is beyond me, how anyone can look the other way, let alone defend any forum that profits from this disgusting act is beyond me. SHAME ON YOU VILLAGE VOICE!!!!

  25. 25

So now he's become an anti-prostitution crusader. I'm sure the right wingers will glad to have him onboard. Just don't get caught with a hooker, Ash.

  26. 26

Re: alanlovesyew – retard? Really? What R U, like 13 or something? Your mom should take your computer away from you and ground you for that remark.

  27. 27

Total respect to you Ashton, this is a sick problem that needs to be solved, finally a Man with the balls to stand up for women and girls, you and Demi are fighting the good fight, thank-you.

  28. 28

    *Applause* Very good, Ashton.

  29. 29

OMFG! sorry to admit I used to design those ads. Now I feel bad - yuck!

So, Ashton Kutcher can play a male prostitute on Spread, and can invest in a tacky restaurant called Geisha House where waitresses dress up like geishas, but the Village Voice can not offer a forum for sex workers to advertise their services to a consenting adult?? I think that there is a clear consensus among everyone (including the Village Voice) that human trafficking is a problem that needs to be addressed with urgency but why is he making this a sex worker problem? Why doesn't he go after the major cities that do not have anti-trafficking task forces in place because their elected officials don't want to be known as having a child prostitution problem?
