Obama Gets Called A Dick On Live TV

| Filed under: TV NewsOops!Media MinutePolitikBarack ObamaPerezTV

Why don't you tell the president how you REALLY feel about him???

During today's episode of Morning Joe (above), MSNBC senior analyst Mark Halperin called President Barack Obama "a dick," and he's gotten some serious backlash for it!

If this were middle school, Mark might have been given a couple of demerits, but because he was on live TV on a major network, he's been suspended indefinitely.

Here's a statement that MSNBC released about Mark's comment:

"Mark Halperin's comments this morning were completely inappropriate and unacceptable. We apologize to the President, The White House and all of our viewers. We strive for a high level of discourse and comments like these have no place on our air. Therefore, Mark will be suspended indefinitely from his role as an analyst."

Here's what Halperin had to say about his "dick" comment:

"Joking aside, this is not a pro forma apology, it's an absolute apology. Heartfelt to the president and to the viewers…I made a mistake and I'm sorry and I shouldn't have said it."

"I completely agree with everything in MSNBC’s statement about my remark. I believe that the step they are taking in response is totally appropriate. Again, I want to offer a heartfelt and profound apology to the President, to my MSNBC colleagues, and to the viewers. My remark was unacceptable, and I deeply regret it."

Maybe Obama should just call Halperin a "farthead" and let them call it even. LOLz.

What do U think about Mark Halperin's punishment for calling Obama a dick? Adequate? Harsh? Not harsh enough?

    Hahahaha, now that's good TV.

You don't have to like the man, but you should be mature enough to respect the title. I didn't agree with many policies Bush followed during his presidency, but I would've been the first one defending him from something like this, because at the end of the day that "dick" is President of YOUR country

  3. 3

President Obama, you have proven to be a feckless leader.

Obama is an arrogant asshole! And the term "dick" does suit him, but it was probably not best to use the term on TV as he did.

15 short months and this nightmare will be over. the sad part is our children and grandchildren will look back on this time in history and wonder what the hell we were thinking putting someone as undisciplined and inexperienced as this guy in office.

  6. 6

It seems like every day someone is getting worked up about something someone said, and everyone gets all pissed off, and someone ends up apologizing, and I think it's ridiculous. I'm really really sick of it.

Hilarious! Just thinking back to the time when obama would have tingles running up the leg of MSNBC hosts…now even MSNBC guys are calling him names.

  8. 8

    Mark Halperin likes Dick!

  9. 9

This is the first true thing ever said on MSNBC

  10. 10

The news techs appear to be pretty stupid. They can't even figure out their own equipment.

  11. 11

They totally set his ass up for that.

  12. 12

wow think about all the terrible things that were said about bush during his administration!!! countless, descpicable things were said about him, effigy's of him being burned. people saying that they wanted him to die….all that and one person calls obama a dick and we're up in arms?! yes, people should respect the president of our country, but i have a very hard time having sympathy for obama here. he's supposed to be the liberal media's golden boy, so of course NOW we care if someone is saying something mean. NO PRESIDENT SHOULD BE BASHED. but they are , and always will be. people have opinions.

  13. 13

    his only telling the truth

  14. 14

its only a bad thing, cause there is a democrat in the office. If It was Bush, then its no big deal. Bush was called worse and no one got suspended or fired. So hypocrital!! You may not respect the man, but respect the office he holds. Just like when democrats may gay remarks…they say sorry..then all forgiven, but if a republican says them, it is news for months. so sad and pathetic the media is. Hilarious that MSNBC "major liberal netwok" is calling out the guy they protect and love..hilarious….How the messiah doing now???? Oh, I forgot, its still Bush's fault. All Obama is is a great speaker…"even though he reads telepromter. Sad thing is, if the media got this guy elected on absolutley no expierence, then they will probably get him re elected…How corrupt the media is….Go eat a bag a dicks!

  15. 15

I'm an INDEPENDENT and quite objective
    found it very interesting…
because not one of them got suspended from any network when they were saying the same and worse about Bush on the air- not at all confused as to whether there was any delay
    .
find that an obvious double standard
    .
and the 2 idiots talking to him told him they had a 7 second delay
    .
if he had any idea there was no delay you know that he would have never said it on national TV after the host egged him on to say it
    he's not a stupid man
    .
I'd suspend the stupid hosts too-and replace some key people in their control room!
    so not entirely his fault
    .
apparently they are a very AMATEUR production over at MSNBC
as well as a very LIBERAL production

  16. 16

Barack is full of ideas that work great in college faculty lounges, planning on blowing shit up a la Ted Kazinsky/and bff Ayers.

After four years of Bush Economics and the War, America is lucky to have a pot to pee in at this point. Rather than pointing fingers of blame, America should be looking at ways of changing so this current economic situation is never repeated. Who is in control at the top is irrelevant. It what the PEOPLE are willing to do that counts. What we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat.

    19

Re: furball – Who is in control is very relevant, its obvious because of this disaster that obama has gotten us into. Just like Jimmy Carter was responsible for the mess in the '70's a relevant Ronald Reagan put in policies to get the US back on track. That is why its important and very relevant to get a republican in office and give him a republican senate and congress to work with. Now that we are over the social experiment we can hopefully get back to business in 2012 and get the ecomony going again.

  20. 20

whatever happened to free speech? What is this? Russia television circa 1990 when you couldn't say things like that on TV???

Apart that it was an unprofessional way to speak on-air, and the fact that he realized his error and allegedly apologized right away, according to Politico44, White House press secretary Jay Carney announced Thursday that he called Mark Halperin's bosses at MSNBC after the network contributor called President Obama "a dick" on a morning show. Carney said he didn't have a comment on what action the network took against Halperin (he was suspended after he apologized). He told reporters that "on behalf of the White House, I expressed that sentiment to executives at the network."
Is it appropriate for the White House to exert that kind of influence on private media?
The man knew it was a slip up right away and said so. It's up to his bosses to deal with him, and not the publicly elected person he was critically referring to.

  22. 22

    He is a dick.

  23. 23

Biggest Deficit Problem is Obamacare and Obamanomics.
    -
The Obama Regime is responsible for both.
    -
Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the entire bunch of Democrat Senators and Representatives, in lock step, drove a sluggish economy into a full on debt crisis.
    -
Yeah, let's reelect this anti-American President.

  24. 24

MSNBC WORSHIPS Obama like he is their God. Mark forgot where he works. His job at MSNBC was to praise Obama regardless of his true feelings. He can call any conservative any thing he wants on MSNBC but not Obama.

  25. 25

Let's not forget, the last two years of President Bush's presidency, the majority was held by Pelosi and Reid, enacting legislation that contributed to the sluggish economy.

  26. 26

Pride and Prejudice (2011) Halperin has always been slightly toxic. BTW, do average income and lower republicans even understand their own party? Cuz, if they did they would get the heck out from under that tent! The irony is sometimes to much…

  27. 27

ignorant morons who can find information to back up their stupidity cases usually go for ignorance like that… no surprise here…

  28. 28

    Re: Average Jane – -
    -
Changing the story to focus on Republicans is juvenile.
We have a Democrat President and 4 years of Democrat rule in DC.
Obama now owns the original problems, and new ones of his own doing.
An incomplete report card on his "accomplishments" would include the following:
    -
    • The economy worsened
    • Discretionary military efforts ("kinetic" if you prefer) increased
    • An unpopular, flawed health care plan was forced on the public bankrupting the country
    • Inflation increased, especially in critical goods like food and gasoline
    • Job prospects decreased
    • The stimulus failed miserably
    • "Transparency in government" became a laugh-line for late night TV
    • Corruption in government accelerated to Chicago-style warp speed
    • Housing worsened and shows no sign of bottoming soon
    • Government debt and spending spun out of control
    • Wall Street was bailed out and continues to enrich themselves
    • Main Street was ignored and becomes poorer as bankruptcies and foreclosures mount
    • Race relations appear to have worsened
    -
You can deny it, but you can't hide from this.

I can not believe the short memory most of you have. What we going through Bush and Chenney started this shit…They were in office for 8 years to fuck up the US. As soon as Obama took office everyone started pointing fingers at Obama….WAKE UP PEOPLE WE CANNOT FIX THE US OVER NIGHT. We are paying almost $5.00 IN GAS…people can'T even feed their families but the oil companies are making serious bank…COME ON PEOPLE WAKE UP PLEASE…

  32. 32

"There's a lot of buttons here!"

  33. 33

Re: MRSMOMOA – It's not a "short memory" as you put it, it's a clear understanding of facts, something you did NOT get from biased liberal media you obviously got your information from!

  34. 34

Re: buck – Ha you are funny I mean really true President Obama may be experienced but he was able to catch Bin Laden and here it is we had someone with experiencein office for two terms and couldn't catch Bin laden. How about you talk about that now who's the real dick .Please give that simple minded brain of yours a rest.

  35. 35

President Obama -imo-is not enough of a (pr) ick. Fail

  36. 36

    Dr. Ron Paul 2012

  37. 37

Re: buck – you have got to be kidding or just immensely stupid, the trouble the US economy is having has everything to do with the trillions of dollars Bush and his fascist cronies spent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  38. 38

    Freedom of speech.

  39. 39

Wow, what an idiot. He even prepared them, he knew exactly what he was going to say. This wasn't a "foot in the mouth" type of incident. But the look on his face afterwards when everyone else was shocked was priceless, lol.

  40. 40

LOL, George Bush got called a lot more than that, "dick" being one of the more nicer terms given by liberal pundits. This proves the double standard in the press

  41. 41

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! thats funny~~~!!!!

  42. 42

Re: buck – Disaster Obama got us into? You Repubicans are the most forgetful people on earth.

  43. 43

Re: MRSMOMOA – Mrsmoma - people are just stupid. Don't you think Republicans should get in just to remind them of what it was like?

  44. 44

The lesser the knowledge, the bigger the opinion

  45. 45

He's being punished for telling the truth. AND he said ”kind of a dick”…what's the big deal?? Barry is out next year anyway
