Incredible!

A Beijing woman walking by an apartment building caught a two-year-old girl after the toddler fell from a 10-story fall.

Wu Juping "kicked off her high-heeled shoes " and ran to catch the girl after she saw her dangling from the window. She adds:

"It was so urgent. I saw her when she was about to fall and rushed there, and after tens of seconds she fell off. I thought to myself 'I should stretch my arms to her. Because I am right here, I must get her.' Then I made it. I caught her in my arms."

The impact of the fall sent both of them crumbling to the ground. The girl survived, but is in critical condition with internal bleeding and unspecified injuries. Wu was left with a broken arm.

The girl was in her grandmother's care at the time, but she had left to run an errand and left the toddler unattended.

Inexcusable! Thank goodness this woman was walking by and had the courage to try to save the child! What a hero!

Congratulations and blessings to Juping. You are a true hero.
And may the baby recover fully from her injuries. Shame on that grandmother.

  2. 2

That grandmother should be put in jail.

  3. 3

everyone is forgetting this happens every single day caregiver and family make stupid choices. I see it everyday. Go to a gas station…moms leave there kids alone in the car while they "just run in to pay" we don't need to get stories out of Beijing to find idiots

  4. 4

I forgot to mention the hero…good job. there are kind people in this world.

  5. 5

Wow. Who leaves a toddler unattended with a door open?

  6. 6

Re: momofan – While that is awful too, I don't think that's nearly as bad as leaving a child unattended on the 10th floor with a door presumably open.

What the F is happening in China?
This is the third incident I hear about (only the ones I happen to hear about) that have taken place in China over the past month.
There was a video of one child caught in a balcony rail.
Few days after, another video emerged of another child in china caught on a balcony rail.
And now this one is the third child fallen/dropped of a window…

I could totally be reading into this here…but my theory is that dear old grandmama wanted to have a grandSON, and with the population control measures over in China, it prevented a second child that could potentially be a son.

So she opened the window, and left for an "errand", HOPING the child would fall to her death in a tragic accident. What she didn't count on, was this hero woman catching her!

Re: Kacers – I think it's time for your meds.

  10. 10

A grandmother leaves a two year old unattended next to an open 10 story window. I suspect foul play, and its time for *my* meds? WTF.

  11. 11

Bravo what an amazing hero this woman is. Others would probably just gather around and stand by and watch like if is some kind of a show. Happy 4th of July everyone.

  12. 12

Who the hell would leave a 2 year old baby unattended? WTF is wrong with people? Disgusting. Gramma needs to spend some time behind bars.

  13. 13

That baby is not two years old. Only maybe 6-10 months. Not even sure if this story is true.

  14. 14

    Re: Kacers
HAHAHA! That's exactly what I thought too!

And yeah, the child in the photo is not 2 years old.

Re: Meggie246624 – No, i think it's time that if you don't know anything about the laws over in China you should STFU because obviously you don't. If you have a daughter, you cannot have anymore kids due to the over crowding. If you become pregnant again there are known instances of forced abortions/ having to place the child (if it is another girl) up for adoption. Go learn something…

  16. 16

You're statement "had the courage to try and save the child" implies that there are people out there that would just watch a baby fall 10 story's to its death. Of course the woman is a hero but that statement was ridiculous.

  17. 17

Re: Kacers – I kinda thought the same thing…its fishy.

The woman is a HERO the baby could have killed her!

Re: Kacers – Please do your research before commenting. The One-Child policy is no longer in effect in China. People may have as many children as they like. The reason why people still only have one child is because everyone became used to being in a single-progeny home and decided that having one child is better than having multiple children. Plus, raising a child in China is horribly expensive, what with all the extra "tutoring" parents have to pay for. Most people who do want more than one child simply cannot afford to have a large family.

So this incident was probably result of carelessness, not foul play.

  20. 20

    lock that crazy grams up wtf is that!? Leaving a child alone in a 10-story building with the fucken window open?? damn! >:{

Fantastic catch. Wow. I salute her.
    Caregiver? Not so much.

Re: LizInMOC – I did do my research before commenting, TYVM.

According to the wiki page, the one child policy was discussed in March of 2011, but as of yet, no changes have been made. The deputy director of the Commission stated that the policy would remain unaltered until at least 2015. So as of right now, urban couples are still restricted to one child. And Beijing certainly qualifies as urban. My suspicion holds water.

  23. 23

    Juping is a hero.

  24. 24

The same thing happened in France a few years back but this time it was an 11 years old boy who managed to catch a toddlerl who was falling from the fourth floor I believe !! With no injuries !!

  25. 25

Re: PooGirrl – That's Juping's kid in the picture, not the kid that fell, and is now in critical condition.

I read about this on another more detailed site earlier today :-)

Re: Kacers – AND WE ALL KNOW THAT WIKIPEDIA IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. (HINT: SARAH PALIN AND PAUL REVERE).

  27. 27

the "one child aw" may very well have influenced the old ladies actions, whether she actually left the house or not.. it wasn't a grandson, afterall.

  28. 28

oops… thats the "one child law" in china.

  29. 29

OK you haters , that baby in the pix is the hero's own child OK? the falling poor thing sure is in the medical care , don't you guys read ?

  30. 30

That's amazing!!! What a stupid bitch grandmother !

    Re: Kacers

I'm with you, Kacer. The problem is, too many Westerners don't understand just how widespread the anti-girl baby sentiment is in China, due to their one child policy. Everybody wants a boy to "carry on the family name." I once saw a picture of a dead baby girl on the gutter of the road in some city in China, while a business man in a suit walked by, totally unfazed. Could have cared less. The dead baby was no different than a dead sewer rat or something, all because it was she. So yeah, it actually does make sense that somebody in China would "accidentally" let their baby girl out on the balcony, unattended, maybe so they would "accidentally" fall. If only people knew what goes on over there. (It's just as bad in India too, apparently, according to an article I was reading on CNN. In India they literally starve their baby girls to death. Just stop feeding them until they wither away and die. Before that happens though they're also usually abused out of frustration/resentment for being a girl and not a boy.)

  32. 32

Sign her up for the Giants!

  33. 33

May God bless Wu Yuping. I wish the government there will recognize her heroic action. I hopw the both the baby and Wu Yuping will get speedy recoveries. Amen!!!!

  34. 34

i think people need to realize that this grandmother was really careless but she's not a psychopath, she probably just had a senile moment. I dont get some people going wild about the 'only child' rule.. chinese people love their children just like any other sane parents in the world, they are not willing to MURDER their children in the hope of getting a male!!! i have been to china and seen families with more than 1 child, some people take a journalists report or what the news says as 100% fact! YES, in many parts of china you are only supposed to have 1 child, but then again there are other areas which this does not occur in. Anyway, this woman is very heroic, but i also think this would be most people's reaction to an innocent baby falling, i just hope they both recover fully :)
