JT's Plans For Myspace: Online Talent Competition??

| Filed under: Justin TimberlakeMusic MinuteTech Talk

JT Myspace Planz

As we've heard, Justin Timberlake has purchased a stake in the failing social networking site MySpace, and plans to help revitalize it and bring it back into the picture.

His plan? Some sort of online talent competition!

JT's manager had this to say:

"Whether it becomes a talent competition or something like that, those are things that we will still flesh out. We definitely want to bring the industry back to MySpace to really look at the talented people that have put their faces there."

And here's what JT had to say himself:

"There's a need for a place where fans can go to interact with their favorite entertainers, listen to music, watch videos, share and discover cool stuff and just connect. MySpace has the potential to be that place … I'm excited to help revitalize MySpace by using its social media platform to bring artists and fans together in one community."

MySpace has always been a decent locale for emerging bands and whatnot, and for people to find and interact with them. It looks like JT is going to be looking at that specifically to get the site back on its feet!

So that means you guys need to brush up on your skillz and possibly prepare to re-add MySpace to your bookmarks!

Good luck, Justin!

This punk is such a tool. What is the world coming to when singers like this can get so many acting jobs when he is clearly terrible (I.E. Hagdonna).

Katy Perry was discovered on MySpace. So I could see it working for a while!

I'm excited to see what Justin can do, after all Myspace was the first and best. Everyone else just copied it…. but too many changes made it lame. Streaming music was the greatest thing since sliced bread!!!

Please whoeever the winner is isn't a gospel vocal belter like jennifer hudson or any american idol singer or isn't a john mayer unsigned cinderella ona guitar or isn't a rapper tha sounds like Drake, or isn't a taylor swift, bieber, or taio cruz wannabe because there's enough of those types. Total Originality plus non-boringness is key.

I use myspace to check out new artists and listen to their songs. I think its a good idea

this is a scam. they must have given him options of free stock to promote it all day. guaranteed he makes money, and guaranteed myspace goes away….

It's a dead platform. There is no saving it.

Love or hate Justin, he is extremely ambitious. When he sets his mind on something(whether he was meant to do it or not), he'll shove it down everyone's throats until it becomes a success. He definitely has the midas touch when it comes to his career. He hasnt had too many #epicfail s to date. If there was a celebrity who could do it I believe its him.

Re: Valentina – Really? After living in Hollywood and working with a manager and record label(s) for years? She was not an overnight sensation. The "discovered on MySpace" story was left off of her TV media profiles produced by E!
