That's right, according to a source, Joan may be more on the mend than we might think:
Veteran Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton announced his plans for retirement at the end of the week within only a few short hours after the verdict came in finding Casey Anthony not guilty. Ashton had put in thirty years of dedication at the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office, and according to those working with him, the decision was a personal matter.
Being one of the three Assistant State Attorneys that worked on the prosecution case against Casey Anthony, Ashton definitely showed his talent and skill, being the first prosecutor in the nation to use air sample science in his defense. He also displayed a deep knowledge of the science used by the state when going after Anthony - specifically when discussing the decomposition odor and chloroform findings from Casey Anthony's car trunk.
He certainly made that forensic pathologist Dr. Werner Spitz look like a fool!
Sadly, his efforts went unrewarded, but to him we still say congratulations. Though he didn't win this case, there have been countless other criminals that were brought to justice by his hard work. After this case, he more than deserves a rest. In fact, his whole team deserves one.
