Dont Ask Dont Tell Halted

Awesome!

A federal appeals court has put an immediate stop to enforcing the U.S. military's Don't Ask Don't Tell ban on gay service members!!

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said Wednesday the "don't ask, don't tell" policy must be immediately lifted now that the Obama administration says it's unconstitutional to treat gay Americans differently under the law.

Woo! That's fantastic news!

There was no real specific timeline to this, so this news is a welcome surprise today! We're so happy that the military is becoming more and more ready to let those in the LBGT community serve and protect the country!

EQUALITY FOR ALL!!

Let the soldiers vote. They're the ones who have to shower with the gays and depend on them in a foxhole.

Obama is still anti-gay marriage, Perez, so don't get your knickers in a twist just yet over this.

THis is SO AMAZING! My husband is active duty Air Force, and while I am quite conservative in a lot of my beliefs, this is one that needs to be GONE! I STRONGLY believe that anyone, no matter their orientation, deserves the same rights as the straight community. Insurance, tax benefits, the right TO SERVE YOUR COUNTRY…. I guess I can see the reasons it was brought into practice in the first place, but I would imagine that there is WAY more sexual harassment of women in the military by men, then same sex harassment. I was devastated when I read about the Navy approving chaplains doing same sex marriages if they so choose when it was legal in their area, and it was halted less than 24 hours later. : ( I had hoped we were so much further as a country. Lets keep working at this, and some day we will get equality for the sexes, races, religions, and everything else!

"Obama administration says it's unconstitutional to treat gay Americans differently under the law."

That is a BLANKET statement — it means everything that EVERYONE gets the same rights and that has to include marriage too!

And to "Going to Hell When I Die" (probably by the way) — that gay person may save their life. And you show no logic: a woman doesn't go after every man just because he is the opposite sex, same goes with gays — you bigot.

The army is going to shit. We don't need gays in it

DADT has been repealed and the military has taken action to brief their Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen on it. They have to take a class and an assessment showing they understood the repeal and material. There's no worries on what the govt is doing to put the repeal into practice.

I travel a lot and always see male and female soldiers and tell then Thank You For Your Service. I don't ask them if they are gay or straight. Most people don't serve and for those who take that commitment on should be respected and also allowed to board the plane first and not have to pay for their baggage. Sorry I had to add that also.

who cares ? at over 9% unemployment there are FAR more relevant issues in the US right now. Stop with this gay agenda shit. Also no one wants to see pics you and that dead raccoon on your head.

Oh yes. With any step forward lets move 3,4 or 5 steps back. only in the USA Re: mimimason – Thank you for your post. so inspiring to read what you wrote on a blog so often full of hateful negativity. applause!

Re: TrannyTakesATumble2 – I'm sure there were "important" issues during the Civil Rights cases of the 1960's. Does no one get that the fight for equality can't be taken so lightly? You obviously have it all going for you. (But you're on Perez Hilton)…

Re: icefire227 – then I don't think we need Asians, Blacks, or Women. Because that's kind of iffy……oh, wait. If you are willing to fight for this country, it does not matter who you sleep with. Because the army is not stupid and they make sure the people fighting have it together. And we all know there are straight soldiers who are REALLY MESSED UP.

  12. 12

Re: mimimason – Wonderful comments….I really appreciated this. A lot of people on here are terribly negative….

  13. 13

Re: Average Jane – You said it all !!! Sooo true! I hate that people forget that any person who isn't a straight, white male went through this. Be it female, asian, black or mexican, they went through it.

  14. 14

Re: going to hell when I die – And do you know what would have happened if they allowed southerners to vote about segregation in the sixties, since they were the ones who had to go to school with the blacks? Yeah…..it would have been BAD. I don't want to step on toes here I just don't agree with these comments..

  15. 15

I thought don't ask don't tell was to make everyone EQUAL not different. I don't get why the bandwagon. Lady Gaga is leading this pack.. she needed a cause but this is stupid. Gays were allowed to protect and serve.. they weren't allowed to molest and flaunt it.. as should NONE of the soldiers about ANY of their conquests male or female.

  16. 16

Awesome, Wasting more time on a stupid whiny minority while bigger more important issues go unnoticed.

  17. 17

I know this lady in the picture. she is the worst!!! last time i saw her she was being handcuffed and put in a police car…worst.

Obama isn't on your side, Perez. And what gays do with their genitals doesn't make them a special interest group that should be placated. This whole "love and reward me because I'm gay" mentality is really tiresome, and there will be a backlash. I just hope you're in the front and get the worst of it, girlie.
