Our initial response to this question was a resounding "no," but we're glad to hear that that isn't the case.

After reviewing the sales figures, it was discovered that over 75% of Beyonce's 4 albums sold this past week were physical CDs, not digital copies. Of the 310,000 copies, 240,000 actual CDs were bough in stores and online.

See! People do still buy them, especially those hardcore fans!!!

Break out those Discmans! They're still goooood! LOLz!

Actually mp3 doesnt have the really nice quality that a cd has. In my opinion they need to make a system where they sell physical mp3 that can be directly downloaded from there to your ipods, pc., etc. But perhaps not mp3 files but something in a much better high quality. People are so used to hear music with such low quality now at days that nobody complains.

another great thing that happened this week in the charts is that christina aguilera's decade of hits reentered at 45. pretty bad ass…but of course wont read about that on here.

    Re: bleahf

Flac/m4a and Ape are Lossless formats that a very common nowadays, they are exactly the same quality as cd's, and considering you can put a lot more songs on Mp3 players or external HDD's etc, playing single cd's is a bit old hat now!!

Hello people! CD sales still exist because of CAR CULTURE, burning an mp3 album to a bank cd is very impersonal and loq quality compared to cd quality. Also, mp3 player integration into car sound system is still in its infancy. I only still buy cds now and then because I want to bump it in my car, I dont listen to cds in my laptop LOL

and she didn't have to resort to 0.99 cent sales gimmicks.

Leaked 3 weeks before and still went #1 worldwide.

Additionaly the sales figures you're listing are JUST FOR THE US it is not WORLDWIDE. The worldwide figures have not been announced yet.

Unless there is a huge price difference I always buy albums on CD, that way I can choose what quality to rip them at and I also don't need to make a backup like I have to with some of my downloads. I'd also say Beyonce fans tend to be a bit older and thus more likely to buy a CD than a download ;o)

I ONLY buy cd's. I don't own an mp3 player. Not everyone is a cookie cutter.
