Jennifer Aniston's Character Makes Anti-Gay Slur In Horrible Bosses

jennifer aniston makes anti gay slur in horrible bosses

Uh oh! Could we have another Dilemma on our hands here???

Back in October, Jennifer Aniston's Break-Up co-star Vince Vaughn was dealing with controversy over a gay joke in his movie The Dilemma, and now Jen could be in a similar situation.

In her new movie Horrible Bosses, Aniston plays one of the less-than-pleasant bosses, and in a scene where her assistant gets uncomfortable because she's ONLY wearing a white lab coat, she says the following to him:

"You’re starting to sound like a little faggot there, Dale."

Here's what Horrible Bosses co-writer John Francis Daley had to say about the offensive comment:

"She is a horrible person, so I think when it is coming out of her mouth, it is understandably offensive."

And here's what Daley's writing partner Jonathan Goldstein had to say about it:

"It's indefensible. I think part of the challenge is to, in a fairly short amount of time, get these guys to a place where an audience can empathize….To shorthand that, we tried to think: what are the most offensive things they can say? Using a word like that I think is one of them. It says this woman is irredeemable."

And here's Goldstein on whether or not Jen had any issues with making the offensive comment on screen:

"She didn’t have any objections. She wanted to dive into this villain with both feet, and she did."

We understand that her character is saying the offensive comment 100% in context for her character…but then again, couldn't they find a less polarizing offensive word for her to say???

What do U think? Is Jen's anti-gay slur okay for this movie, or do U think it should NEVER be used?

it is a JOKE! americans are so sensitive

  2. 2

oh god take a chill pill! jesus, RELAX

  3. 3

Confusing fantasy and real life again Mario?…Its fucking Movie dipshit.

  4. 4

Perez, IT'S A FUCKING MOVIE!!!!!!! SHIT HAPPENS IN MOVIES ALL THE TIME!!!!! BLACK PEOPLE GET CALLED "NIGG**S", IT'S CALLED ACTING… you're so fuckin soft Perez, lighten the hell up!

  5. 5

It IS a HIGHLY offensive word. But the writers explained why they used it and that's perfectly acceptable. You should be going after the writers who use the F-word and "gay" in their scripts where it's just a matter-of-fact putdown by supposedly sympathetic characters. THAT'S offensive.

  6. 6

its a movie..and its a character that is suppose to be horrible…theres people that call people that everyday same as the N word in movies and life… stop freaking out over it..i dont see you posting anytime the N word is said in a movie or any other offensive thing… stop freakin out over fake characters in a movie over a freaking gay slur. we all no that word is offensive stop posting about it unless some star says they hate F*g**ts (as themselves not a character) cause then it'd be bad

  7. 7

Um, it's called "Horrible Bosses". She is suppose to be horrible. So it works in that context. Lighten up.

  8. 8

GET OVER IT! She's playing a terrible person in the film, so why shouldn't she be allowed to say offensive words?

  9. 9

    shuddup already, you overly sssssssensitive
by the way, theres been no mention of your "appearance" at the Bank in Vegas last weekend ? Guess it bombed huh

  10. 10

Wow, seriously? The VILLIAN of the movie is saying an anti-gay slur. That means it is meant to show the audience it is bad. Therefore the movie is pushing your agenda by making anti-gay a bad thing that the villians of the world do. And you are questioning it?? Are you insane??? (Or is that now not PC to say either… every insult has a meaning that could insult someone because it is not PC. The bigger the deal you make of it, the more likely it is that it will stick around instead of becoming a fad thing)

  11. 11

awful word but if it adds to the piece, if the character would say it, it needs to be in the film.

  12. 12

Aniston has a BIG ass, and is starting to look like a HAG. Her hands are old, and that hair-style is just a *little* too much for someone of her advancing years. She has no man, and lost the ULTIMATE F@#K, Brad Pitt. She may as well kiill herself now ……

  13. 13

Notice the rubbery chicken skin @ her elbow …….

  14. 14

you've said even worse things to people you don't like in REAL LIFE, and they aren't slurs.

  15. 15

I made an account just because im so fucking annoyed with this bullshit.
who the fuck cares! stop being so damn fucking senstive its a fucking word !

  16. 16

if movies couldn't use offensive language we wouldn't be able to watch action, comedy, romance, horror, indie films etc. people need to get over it.

  17. 17

Is it offensive? Sure. Is it supposed to be? YES. Honest to god, if we took out every insensitive word out of movies, movies would suck.

Perez, I love you, but honey pick your battles, cause you can't win them all. In this case, there's nothing to win.

  18. 18

Really? This is a real issue? I am so tired of how dramatic EVERYTHING has to be.

  19. 19

If you had your way, movies would be so DULL

  20. 20

If you had your way, movies would be so DULL!

  21. MG88 says – reply to this

    21

So if it's an "anti-gay slur" movies should be censored? Should we censor movies for all things that all people find to be offensive? Get over yourselves and move on. Life is tough, not everyone is going to like you, and things aren't always going to go your way. Enough.

  22. 22

If you can replace the F word with the N word (if her assistant in the movie was African American) and the producers, director, writers and actor are okay with it being said in a mainstream movie - then fine. If they "wouldn't dare say such a word" then no this isn't okay either. And I will include that yes, I do believe these two words fall within the same category.

  23. 23

commence the screaming hysterical typical reaction of the put upon and victimized gay american man.

  24. 24

    get over it!

  25. 25

go back and listen to Eddie Murphy's "Raw" comedy routine. He opens the show with TONS of gay jokes that are incredibly offensive - yet everyone laughed because it was just part of the act. Its a joke. Look at the show Family Guy… they make fun of white, black, gay, jewish, fat, skinny, EVERYONE - for a laugh. I think people needs to relax.

  26. 26

IT IS A JOKE IN A MOVIE!!! IT IS A MOVIE…MAKE BELIEVE!!!! GET OVER IT!!!

  27. 27

it's just a movie, relax!!!! you cant get offended everytime someone says something awful in a movie!! you'll have to watch only pixar movies!

  28. 28

ISN'T IT CALLED ACTING? JUST SAYIN'

  29. 29

bluh bluh perez!! look up the dictionary, there are other meanings for the word in there too…you know what, if you want ppl to stop discriminating you then stop discriminating yourself!! you just feed yourself negative thoughts and put that frustration on other ppl and expect others to suffer it too!! now i really have to see this movie cos I know you hate her!!!

  30. 30

So, gays have been added to the list of things to "not joke about", along with the physically disabled, Obama, and ethnics. Whew, thanks for the clarification!

  31. 31

STFU already you overly sensitive fuck…….stop speaking for other gays - I'm sick of it, you're NO REPRESENTATIVE! It's a damn movie come mierda.

  32. 32

So according to Perez its wrong for a character in a movie who is evil to say the F word but it was perfectly ok for Perez to call a straight man the same word in person? Hypocritical much?

  33. 33

Let me know if you find this offensive Hilton. Fuck yourself. And f**got is acceptable ever since you used it.

  34. 34

Re: Be-Atch – Yup.. girl is not aging nicely..

  35. 35

It's a fucking movie, man the fuck up you sensitive bitches.

  36. 36

Re: CandyDanny – No, we're not, gays are so sensitive, not americans, we take it for what it is, a joke in a movie. That's all.

  37. 37

I think it's totally right for character to use the word. She plays a horrible person. Being hyper sensitive about a word like this will only work as censorship, not solve the real problem itself.

  38. 38

Re: JasonDiggy – Your offensive. God damn you fuckers need to man up. They make movies about the KKK, Nazis, Rape, and no one says they are promoting that shit, it's just a movie.

  39. 39

omg perez stop being a little whimp its a friggin film its a joke! , you can be the biggest bitch at times making little unnecessary pops at people for there certain behaviour or how they dress but heaven for bid anyone say something about gays its the wholeee its outrageous, its victimization blah blahh seriously grow a pair

  40. 40

It's a MOVIE. Jennifer Aniston is a CHARACTER.

  41. 41

Perez, stop with your anti-gay crusade. I am for gay rights but the movie is called "Horrible Bosses" for abrasion. Her character is suppose to be horrible you fucking idiot!

  42. 42

Oh my god. You're going to do to this argument what you did to Gaga. Too much overexposure will make people sick of it and you're going to get backlash…..so shut up, Perez. It's a JOKE. Lighten up.

  43. 43

it's a movie — and it's a word some people use — oh, why am i bothering - if someone doesn't like it or doesn't have a sense of humor, don't go to the movie — next…

  44. 44

Jennifer Aniston's character is supposed to be so horrible that you feel that it is okay for the men to have revenge on her. Also, everyone is made fun of on TV, so have a little bit of humor Perez.

  45. JR says – reply to this

    45

Sticks and stones! What's the big freakin' deal? People need to lighten up.

  46. 46

I am all for equality and the multicoloured people holding hands under a rainbow stuff but what has happened to the world in which nothing could even be taken lightly anymore, the world has become so sensive in which people find other people being ripped on TV hilarious unless it is someone in their own clique, in this day and age people feel like they have to filter everything they think about before they say it so they can avoid any confrontation over something which wasn't even intended to offensive in the first place and these god damn eggshells all over the floor need to cleaned up. I'm from the Middle East, I love South Park, I love it when Cartman Rips on Kyle over being a Jew, I'm not a nazi, I love other stuff in South park as well, But because I'm Arabic, me being offended by Saddam Hussien and muslims on South Park would make me a fucking hypocrite but I do love it, as it is hilarious. Perez, life itself is already serious enough as it is, So we should try having a bit more of a sense of humor because of that. It is just a movie, and she was intended to be evil. I get that you are offended as it is your own clique but if everyone who felt the same way banned what they didn't like in a movie, the plot, writing and the movie itself, would be very stale. So, lets try getting rid of some of these eggshells, as there is enough crap everywhere in the first place.

  47. 47

She's a villain. Villains murder children, rape the innocent, and do all kinds of other terrible things. If you censor the villains, you have no stories about the good people overcoming them. Now, if one of the heroes was a homophobe, then I'd be concerned.

  48. 48

She's meant to be a nightmare bunny boiler, kicking a fuss up over this is like watching a film about a serial killer and complaining that people die in it…

  49. 49

What is wrong with country> America is unnecessarily insisting to revitalize the Victorian Era or something> Lighten up, smoke a joint, and pig-out for once fatty!!! ugh!!

  50. 50

Re: SpiceGuy – It has been done before in plenty of films…obviously it would make no sense in this context but the N word has been used in mainstream films whether comedy (White Chicks, where the girls start singing in the car) or in dramas involving racist characters (I'm pretty sure American History X and Monster's Ball use it). Please research your argument.

  51. Nix says – reply to this

    51

By less polarizing do you mean something that doesn't offend YOU personally?

  52. 52

I think we need to chill out. It's a character in a movie and she is supposed to be an awful person. A horrible person Would use that word. Now we're going to tell writers and artists what they can say in their art? We're starting to go too far, don't ya think?

  53. 53

youve GOT to be kidding me. sweet jesus going on this site in the morning is a bad idea then it just ruins my whole day

  54. 54

Perez, you've used that word so you should probably be quiet now.

  55. 55

This is Perez's thing. He makes a stupid remark and watches everybody get upset in their comments. He knows exactly what he's doing. Same thing with his remarks about the not guilty verdict in the AC case. He simply wants to stir the pot… and he succeeds. Look at all the comments.

  56. 56

Seriously? SERIOUSLY? I've always been one to stick up for your site Perez, but this post is so ridiculous. It's a MOVIE. About a HORRIBLE person. Horrible people say horrible things. Stop picking through every little thing and trying to make it a problem. Get the fuck over it, it's a film, it's meant to be like this. I never see you commenting on racial slurs or murder scenes or any other offensive scene in movies.

  57. 57

Really Perez? I agree with a lot of what you have to say-normally, but it is a movie about a horrible people. People are so damned sensitive.

  58. 58

A movie and real life are 2 different things. Stop getting them confused, perez. Who caares what a character says in a movie. You are way to sensitive.

  59. 59

Man, there is so much hate in these comments. Ironic, because I'd bet a lot of people who write hateful, personal comments towards Perez are the ones who call him a jerk/bully. I totally get why the movie went this route and I think it's fine and makes sense. As an offensive character, she needs to actually say offensive things. However, if you notice, perez brought up an issue and presented both sides. Saying he understood why it's there but also wondered if it was appropriate. As he runs a site based on celebrity controversy, he posted something that could be seen as controversial and gave people a chance to voice their opinion about the topic. There really was no need to make personal attacks or be so mean.

And people do need to be more sensitive to slurs and entertainment [esp those sent in present day] shapes a lot of how people [esp youth] learn to act. Yes, this movie is seemingly making it negative [which is def better than a positive spin on the word] but there are tons of people who agree with what Aniston's character is saying. Hence the controversy to begin with.

And those who identify as gay [like other minorities] may come off as more sensitive because they have had to deal with the most crap. Their environment and our society has taught them that people are cruel and these slurs hold more weight and hate in them than most people realize.

Also, if so many of you are so sick of what Perez is posting, why the hell are you still coming to his site?

  60. 60

You want rights just like everyone else, well everyone else gets made fun of in movies, GET OVER IT!!!!

  61. 61

I am sorry but people need to calm down. These are characters, in MOVIES. They are not real, they are not hurting a real person.
People in movies can use racist terms, anti-semetic terms but cannot use anti-gay terms when developing a character? That's bullshit. Why should the movie industry treat LGBTs any dfferent, when they want to be treated equally.

  62. 62

Im waiting to see the racket prostitutes, easy women and women in general who are promiscue will do when they hear the word "wh*re" in the next movie!.

  63. 63

Oh fucking god..Boo fucking hoo. This is why no one likes gays..Wanting people to "accept" you comes with its EQUALITY. Being gay does not make you special. It makes you a person. That is it. You are wide open to attacks just like everyone else. People are getting too politically correct around N hurr.

  64. 64

im so sick and tired of hearing people like you say what is correct and not correct to say. its a fking movie.. enough of this shit!

  65. 65

Are you serious?? Um… hello… it's a fucking movie SCRIPT. Remember… movie… not real - is a MOOOOVIEEE Gimme a fucking break from this over sensitive BS. I'm no homophobe but this shits a bit rediculous. OK???!!!

  66. 66

Re: Be-Atch – Wonder what kinda fucking HAG you look like fucking stupid shit talker. ur prolly some dude who NEVER gets laid. get a fucken life yo!!

  67. 67

Like one of the other users I also stick up for Perez a lot, but this is RIDICULOUS! She's playing a villain and so her saying that word makes us not like her. Colin Farrell's character wanted all disable people fired and that's not nice either, but we accept it, cuz you know what? IT'S A MOVIE AND THEY'RE MEANT TO BE HORRIBLE BOSSES!

  68. 68

Re: MariMookie – Why would you WANT to joke about the physically disabled??????

  69. 69

it's a freaking movie! you are way to uptight.

  70. 70

Good grief! Portrayal is NOT advocacy!!!! Should we censor murder, sexism, thievery, and every unpleasantry from film? Villains wouldn't exist, Perez! Vaughn was right, and Daley is right.

  71. @v@ says – reply to this

    71

There's a REASON it's called 'Horrible Bosses.' It's FICTIONAL. The horrible bosses are antagonists.

  72. 72

    It's just a movie…not a big deal

  73. 73

what about bitch? gays should get over themselves.

  74. 74

I suppose we should remove the N word from all scripts dealing with racial issues as well? Funny how that's never been a concern. I think the word is horrible but, within the context, it's fine. She's supposed to be hated. We are getting too overly sensitive to the use of certain words. Sticks and stones, people. Chill the fuck out.

  75. 75

GET OVER IT. you are so freaking sensitive.

  76. 76

Fuck Perez, you're such a fuckin baby! Man the fuck up!

  77. 77

You can't ignore the fact that ignorant people use this word and I think this shows how ugly the character is. The response she receives will serve to show people how inappropriate it's usage is.

  78. 78

UGH! Perez shut the fuck up!

  79. @v@ says – reply to this

    79

…and antogonists are examples of how NOT to be.

  80. 80

Perez, I'm gay, but I gotta say you say WAAAAAAAAY worse stuff about people than that!

  81. 81

As most everyone said … come on, CHILL OUT!
Too many women are obsessed about the word F—N C–T!
    Blacks about the word N—R!
Gays need to learn to forgive the A– H—-s who like to use these words for drama.
So what if they hurt people, and cause younger people self-hate.

What one sows, so shall they reap! They get theirs in the end! Ha,ha,ha,ha,ah ha!

  82. 82

    Get over it.

  83. 83

JEEEEEEEEEEEEZE. Like it's a big deal. We all know that the writers and the actors have no problem with gays. I'm sure almost EVERYTHING in this movie is offensive. That's what makes it funny. Also, I'm sure they target more people than just gays.

  84. 84

Re: Black Swan – Please carefully re-read comments befor replying to them. I never said that the N word was not used in films. I am simply saying that if you can trade out the use of the F word with the N word and it is fitting to the scene then fine. My point being I don't agree with those that say the F word is less of an offensive word than the N word.

  85. 85

Where did my comment go? There's a little something called "Freedom fo Speech" Mario Armando, you suck!

  86. 86

    A) it's only a movie and B) Colin Farrell makes crude remarks about fat people and a person in a wheelchair… how would that be any less offensive? I am gay and all for gay rights, but to only be upset about things said about gay people and not the other minorities in this world is just stupid. the point is that they are 'horrible' bosses, hence the offensiveness. now calm down.

  87. @v@ says – reply to this

    87

I want politically incorrect speech in my comedies, because otherwise, it will be like listening to musak on hold, or watching 18 holes of golf. Hands off. We're big people now.

  88. 88

You are seriously the biggest idiot of them all.
ITS CALLED HORRIBLE BOSSES. Think of ANY movie with a black guy, they drop the n word in it and nobody makes a big deal. CHILL THE FUCK OUT.

  89. 89

It's a movie. It's not like Jennifer Aniston said it herself. You really need to grow up and just take a joke.

  90. 90

In France even gays make anti-jokes, get over it

  91. 91

Hey Mario didn't you use the same word to will.i.am? And now all of a sudden no one in the entire world can use the word again?

    You're a joke.

  92. 92

Its a movie , get over it. It happens in real life, so there you go. GET OVER IT!

  93. 93

Pretty sure people will understand they're trying to depict her as a "Horrible Boss", not an anti-gay campaign, people need to quit being so uptight.

  94. 94

it's a movie.. jennifer is playing somebody who is "horrible". its not like the majority of the world doesn't already use bad words at least jennifer is just acting

  95. 95

    you are so annoying

  96. 96

seriously, a film has a short amount of time to convey the character's image… I don't recall the Asian community up in arms about Clint Eastwood's character in Gran Torino dropping a ton of racial slurs… it was understood that he was supposed to be intolerable…

  97. 97

Re: CandyDanny – No! Gay-Americans are so sensitive.

  98. 98

Re: Be-Atch – yet, she is a hundred times more successful then you. So, if you think she should kill herself, then what should you do?

  99. 99

ahaha didnt perez call will.i.am that. Get over it!

  100. 100

not only is it ok to say it in this movie…its ok to say it in any movie that is using it to make a point in a comedic way. or even a dramatic way…in fact..there is absolutely no word that should NEVER be used in movies.
