Jay-Z! Where are all those new 40/40 Clubs you've been announcing?? What if we want to get our club on around the globe??
The latest announcement was that a new one would be opening in London before the 2012 Olympics, but if the other ones that have been announced are any indicator, we're a little worried he might not hit his goal:
Prior to today’s news, the latest plans called for opening 40/40 locations in airports around the country in partnership with hospitality outfit Delaware North. Those don’t seem any closer to launch than they did when announced late last year.
This isn’t the first time that plans for a new 40/40 location have been enthusiastically announced, only to languish in the planning stages for years. In 2008 new locations in Chicago, Tokyo and Macau were said to be in the works, but three years later, they have yet to debut. Still, the 40/40 Club’s website enthusiastically suggests that those locations and a few others are “Coming Soon 2011!”
The only one that's actually open right now is in Atlantic City. And the one in Vegas shut down. What's up with that? Is creating a chain of clubs the smartest move on his part if few if any of them actually see the light of day?
Jay-Z is scarily business saavy, so we wouldn't count him out just yet. We'd just like to hear some realistic time-frames!
Have U been to a 40/40 Club??
