This was the cover of the issue (right) that hit news stands today.

Yes, after 168 years, the famous UK paper is shutting down after a phone-hacking controversy, involving editors and journalists of the paper, was recently revealed.

Lined up next to an old issue of the paper, it's clear how far the paper has come over the century and a half.

So, now that it's gone, what will U be reading every Sunday, Brits?

Robert Murdock own FOX. Does he practice the same type of methods when running the news. Someone should investigate all his properties! He's a crook who wants to rule the world his way.

How about reading a paper with REAL news that doesnt require the hacking into a dead schoolgirls phone? This paper was just tabloid gossip anyways. And the stores around me had LOADS of copies left but hardly any of other papers' Sunday editions.

HA! "The world greatest newspaper", it's a thucking tabloid!
HA! "7.8m loyal readers", if they were that loyal why did they only sell on average 2.5m every Sunday? And they only printed 5m today??
HA! "So, now that it's gone, what will U be reading every Sunday, Brits?", they'll be reading The Sun On Sunday (aka The News Of The World) !!!

Shameful! Where was the oversight? The buck stops at the top.
Media monopolies are too large to oversee properly.

The Sunday Times as always - those with an education do not believe anything that was written in that tabloid. Its just the NOTW who really gave a shite….

Think how big the Casey Anthony case is in America.. thats how big the NOTW case is in england. Hacking into phones of Millie Dowder and family, british soldiers who have died, victims of the 7/7 bombings… still, all papers of NOTW were sold out by midday!

You know what? Professional Press with pride in their work used to dig and research stories to provide important and necessary oversight/checks and balances to politicians and government, and instead this bunch were busy doing this crap; adding their bit to nations circling the ruddy bowl. Professional integrity replaced by greed and alleged illegal acts may sell more papers in the short term, but at what cost? Now the whole bunch are out of work apart from a few 'favorites,' and the whole organization has had its name dragged through the mud.
