The raunchy R-rated comedy has now joined the ranks of Bridesmaids and Bad Teacher when it comes to winning box office numbers for the genre.
Even with a less than normal amount of movie-goers, the $37 million Horrible Bosses was able to pull off $28 million its first weekend!
That's well on track to crazy profit land!
And while Transformers: Dark of the Moon still reigns at #1, Horrible Bosses beat out other newcomer, The Zoo Keeper, taking the top spot for comedies.
Jeff Goldstein, an executive vice president at Warner Bros., thinks it's all about America's need for an over-the-top laugh-fest:
I think audiences have shown this summer that they want to go out and just have fun. There’s a lot of reality out there that’s too sobering, and people like to go and laugh in a theater. ’Horrible Bosses’ was cool and hip, but it was also something that people can relate to — having the boss from hell. Just like everyone who saw ’The Hangover’ knows what it’s like to go out and have a wild night.
So basically it's like this. If you haven't seen it yet, what are you doing with your life? Go get those tickets!
