Check out the performance (above)!

We just LOVE how much more high energy her performances are these days!

    i freaking love this girl

  4. 4

Energy?!?!?! If that is energy I'm really confused and are there NO loyrics other than Sweet Home Alabama? I know it isn't Shakespeare but that was a lazy ass performance…or I missed something.

  5. 5

    FIERCE?
Do you know the meaning of the word?

Re: sayswho – I agree. Doesn't know the lyrics, and minimal dancing. Not to mention minimal clothes. Glad to hear it was great in person, because it was kinda lame on the video.

    Roll Tide, Roll

  8. 8

as someone who is from jacksonville i am disgusted with this whore covering a classic

  9. 9

She was off key almost the entire time! One of the worst renditions that I have ever heard!

  10. 10

She didn't cover it. She only sang the chorus.

  11. 11

I have nothing against Lynyrd Skynyrd nor the state of Alabama but…does anyone else think its a tiny bit funny that she is a proud black woman and sang (parts) of a song that could be read as racist ("in Birmingham they love the governor")…maybe I'm reading to much into it, just mildly amusing…no big deal, whatever.

  12. 12

Nice… a black Bahamian singing a song about southern USA that can be labeled as white supremasist

  13. 13

Stupid. Also, Rihanna is way above Miley Cyrus in the slut department as far as I'm concerned…just saying.

  14. 14

    That was horrible.

Re: Kwheezy – HAHA! i love it!!!!

she slayed it alright, if by that you me she ruined it! possibly the WORST version I've heard. she sounded off-key, barely sang the lyrics and looks like she wouldn't know a rock from a rock song. AWFUL…

In Birmingham, they love the governor (boo boo boo)
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
    Does your conscience bother you?
    Tell the truth

In 1975, Van Zant said: "The lyrics about the governor of Alabama were misunderstood. The general public didn't notice the words 'Boo! Boo! Boo!' after that particular line, and the media picked up only on the reference to the people loving the governor." "The line 'We all did what we could do' is sort of ambiguous," Al Kooper notes. "'We tried to get Wallace out of there' is how I always thought of it." Journalist Al Swenson argues that the song is more complex than it is sometimes given credit for, suggesting that it only looks like an endorsement of Wallace. "Wallace and I have very little in common," Van Zant himself said, "I don't like what he says about colored people."

I was there and I have to agree that she SLAYED it. Everyone got into it. She put on a wonderful show for a great cause. She even rocked an Alabama football jersey towards the end of the show. I live in Tuscaloosa and I know that everyone from the state of Alabama and all of the other areas impacted by the tornadoes greatly appreciate everyone who has helped with recovery efforts. WELL DONE RIHANNA!

  19. 19

Well her piano player was spot on. Can't say much for her. Couldn't be bothered to learn the lyrics to the whole song, or at least a verse?? I suppose it was cool if you were there an dit being a complete 360 from the rest of her BOOM BOOM dance crap…

  20. 20

THAT is what you consider "slaying it"?! are you kidding? yes, she sounds good. but she did not "slay" anything.

    21

Well, she knew the chorus, anyway. Fun to pull it out for Birmingham, Alabama as a nod.

  22. 22

Fuck Me…… why the fuck did she wreck a awesome song?

  23. 23

I thought that she did a great job and that these comments just show that people love to hate.

  24. 24

Re: Kwheezy – I really dount she knows any history about her black past to be honest. But hey!, thats 'modernity' now at days.
At first I thought her outfit was painted!!. Why dress up like a road wh*re?. And all she sang was the title of the song, move the shoulders to the sides, do a lot of walking, a lame air guitar and that was it,. Thats an entertainer? lol @ her.

  25. 25

Re: AttFinch – Interesting nobody cought that part. That really makes the thing change!.

  26. 26

I love Rihanna but what is this 'high energy' you speak of??

  27. 27

Where are the words? Honestly I don't like Rhianna and she shouldn't have butchered this song!
