The End Is Here For The Book Series That Inspired True Blood!

We guess all good things - and seksi vampire stories - must come to an end eventually!

Although True Blood is pretty much confirmed for season five next year, the books that inspired the series, The Southern Vampire Mysteries, written by Charlaine Harris, will most likely end after its 13th installment!

According to Harris:

“I'm writing Book Twelve and then there will be Book Thirteen. And then I'll think of something else new and wonderful to do. I don't go back to things once I've finished them. I don't want to write Sookie after I get stale. Yeah, I'll miss them, I'm sure, because I have lived with them for quite a long time — twelve years now. But I think writers like to do different things. At least this writer does.”

That's certainly fair enough! I don't think anyone can protest wanting to start something new after spending that much time in a character's world, such as Sookie's!

And we think we'll all be okay! We still have the show, at least!

What do U think?? Will U miss The Southern Vampire Mysteries?

good thing to put it down before it's boring - even 13 is a bit much. the anita blake novels are starting to bore me at book 8…….and there's something like 19 of them…….

good..i started reading them in the beginning, then when the show started and the story lines got so warped and full of disgusting sexual themes i quit buying the books…try the stephanie plum novel series..janet evanovich knows how to write without perverted sexual themes to keep interest..

I love the Sookie Stackhouse Novels… I am sad to it go and I can't wait to see how it ends and I don't mind the sexiness of the book series or the show! It is a great series and I feel connected to the characters!

    Good Job Ms. Charlaine Harris!

I am so sad to see it end. I like the show, but loved the books, though I started reading the books well before the show. I can understand the desire to end well before it becomes stale, but still so sad to see it end.

Will miss it! I only started reading in April and I'm just finished book 9! I don't know what I will do when it ends - hopefully her next series is this good!

Please let book 12 be better than book 11, it was total crap! She spent half of the book going back to the past and retelling (incorrectly) what happened. Made me think she hadn't even read what she had written!! The show is so different from the books, I try not to compare the two anymore because it will give you nothing but confusion.

Re: MOMMIE DEAREST – Seroiusly??? The books are way tame compaired to the show. Maybe just stick with Horton Hears a Who then.

lol so she didn't want it to get stale but still wrote 13 novels? someone needs a reality check.

Great Book Series, but I agree with Ms. Harris. The Sookie Stackhouse stories of the last twelve years have been great, but with the last two books she's given the direction the books will end. Specially after Eric's marriage promise to the Arkansas queen and Bill's other interests, Sam's current relationship and Tara and JB's twins, every character has gotten a good ending. A wedding for Jason would be nice, and a relationship with either Quinn the weretiger or Preston the fairy would be a great ending for Sookie.

This was posted at least four months ago on a True Blood site. Who does your research?

Sookie needs to end up with Bill!

Albeit I love the series, I'm glad it's coming to an end. One should always stop on top.
