Hopefully they can get this all cleared up asap!
Norman West, a longtime songwriting partner of Aretha Franklin, has filed a lawsuit against execs at the singer's publishing company Springtime Publishing Inc.
In the lawsuit, West claims that the publishing co. "failed to sign a royalty agreement" for the track Put It Back Together Again, which is on Aretha's latest album.
West is ALSO accusing execs at Springtime of copyright infringement over a song he wrote a while back entitled Watch My Back.
Here's what West's lawyer Jeffrey Thennisch had to say about the lawsuit:
"These are two parties that have a long-standing working collaboration. Mr. West has the utmost respect for Springtime and everyone associated with it. Mr. West has told me that he owes much of his career to Aretha Franklin and that he views her as both a mentor and a guiding force in his career."
What do U think about this? Is Aretha's publishing co. trying to screw over the singer's songwriting partner?
