Fox News' Andrea Tantaros: Gay History Is Brainwashing

| Filed under: TV NewsPolitikSad Sad

Gay Americans Are Americans Too

California recently passed a bill mandating the inclusion of historical contributions made by GLBT Americans in textbooks.

Opponents of the bill call it an attack on family. They have already rallied together to enact a statewide vote to overturn the law.

Supporters call it a display of equality. They hope this bill will ease the bullying which have led to suicides in the past.

Bob Beckel, a Fox News commentator and political analyst, supports the bill.

On Friday's edition of The Five, he explained his support:

There's no reason why they can't have a history lesson on the Stonewall demonstrations downtown here. The fact of the matter is there has been a long history of oppression against gays and they have contributed enormously to the history of this country and what's wrong with teaching it?

And that's when Andrea Tantaros piped in and said:

They're starting even younger now. They're starting even younger now to control your kids, brainwash them.

UGH! Give us a break!

Brainwashing? Sure. That's what it's allll about. It couldn't just be about easing in equality and American rights. Nooo.

LOL! These people have no idea the mirror they're looking into.

We'll give you a hint. It's vintage. Circa 1876-1965.

    Have you brainwashed MattyB yet?

  2. 2

"Brainwashing" is what many home-schooled children experience, when they're taught "science" with creationist textbooks. We should be more concerned with the fact that so many children are learning completely fabricated stories instead of having a proper education.

  3. 3

I don't care anymore. I'm gay and all this B.S. annoys me. I wish we would stop with the stupid "I'm so angry because they said this about gays…" you make us look worse, like obnoxious black people that bitch and moan because they are to fucking lazy to do things to help themselves. You know, the ones that pull the race card all the time when they don't get their way, freaking colored people.

  4. 4

    America is a funny place.

Pretending gay people have never existed? Lol.

  5. 5

Why do we need to be taught gay history? Not once in history class were we taught the sexual preference of people in history. If you want gay history to be taught be something useful and stop having parades

  6. 6

it's interesting to me that gay Americans get a place in the history books, where their truths can be told but not African Americans or Native Americans. Could this be because White, gay men run America? hmmm

  7. 7

Re: assclown – lazy black ppl? for a gay person you are the most ignorant piece of shit. Understand that inequality wrought through colonization maintains the circumstances of Blacks, Aboriginals and other people of colour. What I'm tired of is dumb ass people who bask in their privilege, which sustains the oppression and maltreatment of others while pointing the finger at those they oppress. Its hypocritical and lame.

I'm all for equality Perez, but teaching gay history just sounds silly to me. Teaching tolerance sounds like a more worthwhile goal. As a teacher there really isn't a lot of time in the day, you have to pick and choose. And now it's a law in Cali that kids have to know about certain folks because of their sexual preference? Ridiculous!!!

  9. 9

Re: Serena Loves Mario – Yeah, we should all be gay and not ensure the survival of our species by procreating, that makes perfect sense?

  10. 10

andrea tantaros is hot! she is right, homosexuality is SICK AND DISGUSTING

  11. 11

I see nothing wrong with adding information about the Stonewall riots ,Harvey Milk, or a few others into history and social studies books. There is no reason to go into detail about their private lives simply that they led the way for gay rights.

  12. 12

By the way, if anyone is brainwashing….it's the lunatic right-wing fringe types like Bachmann.

  13. 13

I'm really not seeing the point to this bill. Schools should be teaching about inventors regardless however their sexual orientation is irrelevant to their inventions. For all I know Einstein or Ben Franklin could have been gay but why would that be relevant?

  14. 14

    oh that's right… gay agenda.

  15. 15

I agree with Tantaros. History is an important class, but an historical person's sexuality isn't relevant to what s/he did. It's the act(s) themselves, not sexual orientation, that is worth knowing. There are far more important things that aren't taught in schools and should be; instead of imposing something as pointless and insulting as gay history, school systems should take that money and spend it on the arts programs that get cut all the time.
Re: assclown – There are indeed black people who have an entitlement mentality and who expect everything to be handed to them; there are indeed black people who play the race card when they hear the word no. There are also black people who work their asses off and who are productive members of society who contribute to their communities. There are as many white people who are lazy shits as there are blacks who are lazy shits; I prefer to form my conclusions based on what they do as individuals rather than on skin color.

  16. 16

I think our school system's text books need an overhaul and it has nothing to do with the lifestyle of homosexuality, except in health and family studies. History should be unbiased and factual history. Leaders of thought (Harvey Milk) and revolution, origins of violence, bigotry, slavery, and hate crimes are important to be fearlessly honest and should include gay topics as well as others or children are doomed to repeat the same ignorant actions as our forefathers. Lots of areas are glossed over or not really accurate, rape as a tactic in WWII and Jewish victims for instance, or the fact that democrats history as a racist party, or that slavery and freeing the slaves was more about money than humanitarian good deeds. Either our country is just to lazy or cheap or afraid to upgrade information, or they just figure they will wait til people get to college. At least I can balance the sugar pop candy history my kid learns in school through the library.

  17. 17

And PEREZ enough with the gay shock and awe banter, you benefit from the lack of mainstream acceptance of homosexuality, as does GaGa. You profit off of the thing you hate most, ironic isn't it. It would be nice if you could reach for a bigger diversity and acceptance agenda vs sticking to a repetitive them that does nothing to help the cause.

  18. 18

Re: La Garse – thank you for schooling this fool!

  19. 19

Re: ccmyplaymate – My pleasure. :D

  20. 20

Re: assclown – You are certainly consistent in your troll comments.. LOL… I hope people don't take your comments seriously, or else their heads or anus might explode (see what I did there, that was for you Mr. Poop fetish). I think you should get a vanity plate like Kramer and wear your name as a badge, there really should only be one AssClown.

  21. 21

Sexuality has nothing to do with a person's accomplishments. You can't have it both ways. Either you treat everyone as equals, or you spend time labeling them. Not both.

  22. 22

An individual's inclusion or exclusion in a history book should not take one's sexuality into consideration in any way shape or form unless you are specifically discussing sexuality. I think the inclusion of the Stonewall demonstrations (or riots -depending whom you ask) is appropriate when discussing the changing social landscape of the US in the late 20th century. The problem is we spend so much time trying to be inclusive and PC that the events that had the biggest impact on our country as a whole, even if perpetrated by "racist old white men", get squeezed out. The average 18 year old's knowledge of history is appalling.

  23. 23

Re: KDIZZLL – You win dumb post of the day! Just because we accept homosexuality, it doesn't mean the human species will die out, idiot. No matter how liberal and accepting our world becomes, there will still be a vast majority of people having heterosexual sex and over-populating our planet. There has been widespread instances of homosexual behaviour in the animal kingdom, and no species has died out due to homosexuality.

  24. 24

What do you call shoving Gaga down everyones throat every twelve seconds? A colon rinse? You're helping brainwash the young ones.

  25. 25

Re: adg100 – As in brainwashing them to admire complete garbage.

  26. 26

They're both right: The Stonewall Riots are worthy of mention in a history class (in text books for grades 11-12, not younger!) because the event is significant and truly historical.
And they're also trying to brainwash kids by wanting to include "Gay History" simply to be politically correct–even if the specific incidents or people are not significant.

  27. 27

I'm all for teaching about the civil rights movement, womens rights, the gay rights movement in history class. It's all a part of history. But I think a lot of people would also benefit from a "how to balance a checkbook" class and a "how to have a credit card responsibly" class!!!

  28. 28

Re: SpiceGuy – That type of class was required in my high school!

  29. 29

Some people seem to be confused on what this bill means exactly. It's not as though they're telling teachers to include discussions on sexual preference in class, what it means is that the history of riots, violent acts, and trials involving gay rights will now be included in a lesson plan. It's no different from having teachers speak about the rise of woman's rights.

  30. 30

So Perez, will your role regarding this new California mandate be to identify people who are gay and not gay. Will you be exposing all of the gay members of Hollywood, government and any other person who does something remarkable to earn a place in history? How else will the teachers and books be able to acknowledge who is gay and who is not gay. What if a person wants to keep their sexual life private, will you override their right to privacy? This whole movement is so lame!!!!!!!!!

  31. 31

Fox News is braindead. My husband watches those clowns and I chime in minute by minute when they get the facts wrong. It drives him nuts and I love it. My favorite was the other night on Hannity when Ann Coulter tried to tell us that Kate Middleton was causing American girls have eating disorders - Uh, Ann needs to take a look in the mirror because her body looks like the skeleton from my Anatomy class. FOX BLOWS DONKEYS!

  32. 32

seriously, gay or not gay its fucking history, people need to learn to stop playing the gay/race/whatever card and move on. last time i checked most of us are human and we all need to grow up

  33. 33

There has to be some happy medium here… They want this equality thing treated like the civil rights movement and the womens movement… But it shouldn't be. I don't feel like my children should be taught about Gays right to marry because it really doesn't have as big as an impact on the other two aforementioned movements. These movements involved voting and the right to have the power to make choices in how their states and government were run. The Gay Marriage issue holds no weight in any political changes. If Gays were not allowed to vote- my stance would be different.

  34. 34

Re: highboo – I am sure you would also be able to correct your husband if Fox made a mistake reporting about Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. If you don't like Fox,don't watch it. You do know how to use a remote, don't you???

  35. 35

Re: yumba1 – Are you married? Do you like comedy? I have found a way to use Fox News as a tool to poke fun at my husband. You let Fox News make a TOOL out of YOU.

  36. 36

Re: highboo – Yes,your husband and I are tools because we happen to watch Fox News. Your arrogance is astounding.

  37. 37

Re: yumba1 – Let this be your A-Ha moment :) BTW you are too easily astounded: Tantaros is far more arrogant than myself…Bill O, Hannity, Coulter, Beck, Rush - now THOSE are some arrogant bags of wind. I gather news from all sources and I call them out when they eff up…I used to like Greta, but now she looks like she got her face done by Shepherd Smith's doctor (weirdest faces on tv).

  38. 38

Re: highboo – I think you need to take your PMS pills now. Toodles.

  39. 39

Re: yumba1 – Not until you take your preferred erectile dysfunction meds.

  40. 40

    F*ck Faux Noise.

  41. 41

Re: assclown – My confused, racist brother–you are what "makes us look worse." What you have posted here is not only unintelligible, but it reeks with ugly, misguided bigotry. You should really see a shrink about your internalized homophobia.

  42. 42

Re: Geat real – An overhaul may be due but states, cities and counties are filing for bankruptcy. Who is going to pay for new textbooks?. We're laying off teachers who would be educating students with the new curriculum? This is something that can be taught at home. If parents are bigots, a new textbook most likely would not make a big difference until students are older and have been taught by their parents to have critical thinking skills. Or with hope, stellar teachers who unfortunately may no longer be around.

  43. 43

When you say "completely fabricated stories, I'm assuming you're talking about evolution?"

  44. 44

Brainwashing? No. Unnecessary overkill - yes. Its hard enough to get kids to learn math, reading, and the basics of civics. A simple "some of the people we'll talk about in History may have been gay" is more than sufficient.
