Gwyneth Paltrow To Raise Her Children As Jewish…Even Though She Doesn't Believe In Religion

gwyneth paltrow to raise children jewish

So since she's said she doesn't believe in religion…is the plan to just raise them culturally Jewish? If so, we suppose we couldn't argue with that. Passover food is delish! LOLz.

Following Gwyneth Paltrow's recent appearance on ancestry show Who Do You Think You Are?, she's decided to raise her children as Jewish.

Apparently, after Gwyn found out that her family comes from "a long line of influential East European rabbis," she was inspired to raise her kids in a Jewish environment.

What's the deal, Gwyn? Are you embracing your religious side now? Is it just that you like Jewish traditions/holidays? Have you told Chris Martin about this decision???

We'd like some more answers…but in the meanwhile, congrats on your decision to introduce your kids to Judaism! Or we suppose we should say MAZEL TOV! Ha!

What do U think about Gwyneth's decision to raise her children Jewish?

Seems logical to me. Kids should have some religion in their lives growing up to make an informed decision about what THEY believe in, not their parents.

My mom wasn't religious, but made sure I was part of the Lutheran church and went "religiously" until confirmed and could decide what I believed in.

  2. 2

I would understand if her husband was Jewish or if she was but not because her ancestors believed in it (or real reason to s%#@ up to hollywood producers).

  3. 3

Religious or not, whatever works…most people I know that were raised with religion had a very sheltered, small-minded, judgemental and had self-righteous lives…it was not a way to be raised (I am speaking about Christians)….Jewish or whatever, just as long as you raise your children to be open, loving and respectful, great! live and let live!!

Gwenyth is a god damned idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Born rich and well connected. Sells LEATHER for Coach)

  5. 5

One stupid deluded spoiled cu nt

  6. 6

    No surprise here.

  7. 7

Re: Jbo – But if you were indoctrinated as a child, it is unlikely to be an informed choice.

  8. 8

This is because she wants her kids to be able to work in hollywood.

  9. 9

Just another idiot sucking up to th jews that run Hollywood.

  10. 10

    Re: jessikakm

Yes!! To curry favor with the Speilbergs!!!!!!

  11. 11

this is a blatant act to kiss ass to jewish hollywood…she already named the boy moses…the only reason she did the ancestry show was to show off her jewish roots to hollywood…because she isn't a real jew since her mom isn't jewish. Her kids, they are like what? 1/4 jew? and not even really because she is not of a jewish womb, therefore isn't a jew…it's so silly. She's just so transparent about this, and the fact that she needs to publicize it?? i mean really. Who else goes around bragging about the religion they will raise their children with? I have yet to hear another celeb even discuss it. Ridiculous.

  12. 12

Wow. Aren't you guys all a little (read: a lot) anti-Semetic in your comments?

  13. 13

Babs would be so proud … another PR move by Gwyneth Paltrow.

    Um. No.

    Re: rosebud99
RoseBud - Fortunately, my experience was good, but I chose to not follow a "religion" as an adult. I believe in being kind to people and loving all in spite of differences.

I saw both sides of the "fence"…

  16. 16

Sometimes people have experiences that makes them make changes in their lives. There is nothing wrong with deciding to raise your children in a religion. I'm not religious but my children will be raised with religion and then they can decide what they want.

I'm not fan of Gwyneth Paltrow, but to mock her because she decided to do this is really stupid and a bit close-minded. And I do find it a bit offensive by joking and saying Jewish food is delish - just because she wasn't religious before this experience doesn't make her a hypocrite.

  17. 17

Re: wowwow19 – I was thinking the same thing. Now, I agree she is a spoiled idiot who thinks way to highly of herself. Publicizing what religion she is choosing to raise her child is ridiculous. Besides, if she wanted to suck up to the big players in Hollywood- she should have named her child Xenu.

  18. 18

Re: Jbo – Glad to hear it worked out for you. I tried to teach my daughter about religions and their histories, and expose her to as many different faiths as I could - she was amazed at how each religion totally believes that their religion is the 'true' religion to the point that they are willing to kill each other over it. She does not believe in the concept of a higher power. But, she is a good person who genuinely cares about other people and takes responsibility for her own actions.

  19. 19

"passover food is delish?" is that supposed to be a joke? have you ever had it? other holiday food, maybe but definitely not passover!

  20. 20

well I honesty believe that going to your kid and say this believes in this and that believes in that is BS. Thats what some schools do and frankly they can even learn about it on the web. What matter is what the family, mainly the parents, believe. You may think your the cool openminded parent but it makes things worse. At the end of the day, sooner or later, they will do what the parents do. What they see in day to day life will stay with them. Thats why there's such a crisis of faith, because at home parents have this too cool for school or "whatever" attitude. And I'm sure it came from the household they were exposed to as a child..

  21. 21

WHY??? Go fuck a publicist. I HATE HATE HATE it when celebrities use religion for publicity. Now she has to drag her kids into it. EFF YOU! If you want your kids to practice religion, set the example. It starts with believing in God. Turd.

  22. 22

I don't think its a good idea..if you don't believe in religion teach your kids about the story behind god and whatever else when they are old enough to understand let them choose ..when they are young you can still teach them morals and right and wrong and how to be a good person..and their religion seems strict depending if they are true followers I just don't believe in religion either. I hope she doesn't raise them to be the rude kind that shun everyone non-jewish..

  23. 23

Does her husband ever say anything?

  24. 24

Re: Jbo – Why would a parent ask a child to do something they would not do themselves? Why would a parent expose their child to something they don't believe in? I don't believe in Scientology and I would not drop my kids off at the Scientology Center so they could make their own decision about it. What is she thinking and where are her husband's balls?

  25. 25

Ahh whichever way the winds blow huh Gwynny…?

  26. 26

To teach a religion to your kids is NOT THE ONLY way to teach them to be kind, nice and honorable persons!. Are you fools?, really?.
Gwen is the mom of the kids tho, so nobody can really tell her anything except suggest her in whats the best for the children. But afterall, isnt supposed a mother to know whats the best for them?. Well, mothers arent always riiiiight!.

  27. 27

You can't just decide one day that you are going to raise your kids Jewish. You have to convert over through classes that take at least a year and your boys have to be circumcised…..ouch….hope he already is.

  28. 28

Re: rosebud99 – why do you have to use the word indoctrinated like all religions are a cult…..please….we don't all live in Waco, Texas moron.

  29. 29

A sheep is a sheep is a sheep. I'm surprised it's not Scientology. Maybe she wasn't cool enough to make it into the cult.

  30. 30

    ….delusional bobble-head….

  31. 31

'Crap', or 'Goop', or WHATEVER the f@#k HER NICK-NAME IS, IS NOTHING MORE THAN A PUBLICITY-WHORE ! REALLY, A DREADFUL WASTE OF SKIN. SHE IS PATHETIC, AND SHE JUST DECIDES now TO GET THE KIDS INTO RELIGION … ? WHAT A DOPE ! I wish she would go away…she is a frek'n BORE ! AND, SHE CAN'T SING FOR BEANS !

  32. 32

    …And, ANYONE who has had Ben Affleck's Co*k in her mouth, really shoudn't be talk'n religion ….Just say'n ….

  33. 33

I hope their faith is a comfort to them We all need to lookup to a power that is greater than Oprah and Obama. Just a thought.

  34. 34

Doesn't dad have a say in this? Seems to be it should be a joint decision decided before the child is born.

  35. 35

She thinks if she raises them Jewish, they'll be more successful. I guess they would have more connections (Hollywood of course) but it's not morally right.

    36

I think this is a great idea. It's logical to educate kids on multiple levels and then let them choose for themselves what they'd like to believe. I grew up in a religious home and I've got tons of knowledge, tho I'm no longer practicing. To each their own, and better yet if educated!!

  37. 37

God, I fucking hate this woman.

  38. 38

Re: highboo – You're right. There are other ways to teach your kids about religion. She doesn't need to go and convert them to one in particular. But like many others have said, I think she may just be doing it to seem "cool", or whatever. For a non-religious parent to bring their kids up Jewish is a BIIIGGG stretch. I mean, talk About opposite ends of the spectrum! Like Kim_K's_Ugly_Hippo_Ass said, you gotta have them go to a bunch of classes, they have to live a certain lifestyle, etc. It's no walk in the park. Turning to Judaism is only for those with a serious belief, as well as serious dedication. Although none of us know the full story, it seems to be something that she just woke up and thought of one day. I really hope that she looks into it more before making an official decision.

  39. 39

Gweneth is a Jew ass-kisser. Ridiculous. Xenu doesn't have a foot in the door when it comes to the Jewish masses that run Hollywood and all other media outlets.

  40. 40

Did she get this idea from Family Guy? Are her kids really as bad as chris? lol

  41. 41

Come on Perez, do you have something else better to talk about this particular stupid woman? Who cares about the way she wants to raise her kids. She is a one nasty stupid woman. Nasty to her grandmother, and called her "bitch" on Chelsea show? Chelsea and Gwyneth is like peas in a pod, both stupid and nasty. Gwyneth doesn't believe in religion, so who cares……….your grandmother will throw you the first stone anyway.

  42. 42

Sorry, I meant something better to talk other than this…….

  43. 43

Re: laureln – If you're raising them with religion how is that giving them a choice? Why not just give them the facts and let them decide instead of saying 'we're raising them [insert religion]?
