online video to replace traditional tv watching

Looks like it could be the beginning of the end for traditional TV watching.

According to a new report, 4.5 million U.S. homes will watch TV via the Internet by the end of the year, and 12.1 million will make the switch to online by 2015! Wowsa!

To give you an idea, that means that 4% of homes will be watching TV online by the end of this year, and 10% will be doing so by 2015. Sorry cable companies!

Where do U watch TV? Do U think the future lies in online video watching?

that's because why pay so much for cable tv when you don't have time to watch what you want fucking have to work three jobs to make it in this country anymore so yeah in a way to cut expenses and save money i don't blame people in fact i think i might be doing the same thing…fucking CT governor cutting jobs like a maniac im sure plenty of those people will be from CT—-COMCAST/COX U FUCKING SUCK!

I still love my directv. How else would I watch high quality HD tv on my 52 inch flat-screen? They don't have any quality HD internet streaming services out there and I don't want to spend hours upon hours downloading HD movies and shows off the internet.

I love this !! Cable companies have had a monolpoly on TV watching for TOO many years. I'm so tired have paying more for cable every month than my rent practically.

  4. 4

I watch tv while I am on the computer entering contests, reading news stories, etc. I would not be able to to that if I had to watch TV on the computer. I won't be changing.

I'LL BE DAMNED!! Not in my house, it won't!! I didn't shell out almost $2,000 bucks for one of those big, fancy televisions for nothing. Man, I remember I saw some segment of Khloe' Kardashian watching TV on some little telephone. I mean, how in the hell are you suppose to even see the picture on that thing?! And forget about watching TV on a laptop because it gets hot, and the battery barely lasts if it's not plugged in. And it's like what commenter Barney said, we don't have the time to spend hours upon hours downloading HD movies and shows off of the internet.

Youtube, Perez Tv, Netflix and some of the other things in windows media center. I honestly barely watch regular tv anymore.

  7. 7

thank god for some options.. now maybe we will not have to pay a fortune to watch tv…

  8. 8

people are crazy if they think they wont have to pay a good chunk of cash for this. if watching tv online becomes this big, please believe all those free sites will get shut down in a blink of an eye and cable companies will get thier money from you.

I have weaned myself off of TV and finally cut the cable. Actually, there's a number of digital channels you can get for free with an antenna. I do miss things like True Blood, but am sure they are available online somewhere or will be.

  10. 10

i miss being able to sit down & turn on some cable on the tv, but i've had only internet for over a year now, & you know what? it's definitely worth the price cut. between hulu & netflix, i don't feel I"m missing much at all.

SERIOUSLY! I just want all the cable companies to file bankruptcy! i'm so sick and tired of them making us all pay for a 200 channels package where we can only bear to watch like 5 channels! and then we pay in order to watch hours and hours and hours of commercials, while the tv shows are only like 2 minutes bs!!! ridiculous! haven't had cable for 2 years and i'm so happy i don't see all the commercial crap so i don't feel inadequate, i don't feel like i need to buy shit in order to be happy! fuck tv!

  12. 12

unfortunately, if you want internet only, some cable companies don't even offer that. they force you to get the fucking package, just like Directv!! ridiculous!

Re: Alexima – preach it girl! so true these cable companies are out of control damn it when will we ever get a break between this and rent/groceries etc makes the stress levels go up, everything goes up but the raises and then when you are stressed out don't even think of going to the doctors office they charge you out the asshole i suffer bad allergies and this season was among the worst for CT i just got my 431.12 bill in the mail, it cost me 197.00 just to walk in and out for the clinic plus they gave me an allergy test tsk tsk makes me sick thanks UnitedHealthCare for nothing they covered 27.96 of the bill…makes me sick

  14. 14

Cable sucks. Get satellite with the cheapest package and an HDMI cord to hook your computer to your TV. Get one of the cheap ($5 or less) HDMI cords from Amazon. Don't get raped buy Best Buy. Those Monster cables are a scam.

  15. 15

Oh and i almost forgot hulu. I think youtube now has a movie service as well which i have yet not tried.

  16. 16

Frankly I like watching DVD's on my laptop, I like watching online streaming stuff…it's just the way things are going…especially now that multimedia cell phones have jumped so far ahead. My first QWERTY phone had a TV tuner and I enjoyed even those few channels, even with limited VCast range lol!

  17. 17

I LOVE TV but I can tell you I am disgusted with it! I have a LOT of channels and what's on them? Commercials or "REALITY" TV….totally sucks! Give me some drama or good documentaries or soe great comedies…

I bet I don't watch 2 shows each on any of the three networks the progamming is so bad!

  18. 18

just means they'll raise their rates and give customers mysterious bandwidth caps… well that's common in Canada anyways. :(
I don't have time for TV because I don't understand how people can set aside time to watch a TV show.

  19. 19

Does anyone remember when watching tv was FREE. Not a penny. Nadda. Now you have to pay through the nose to watch tv. Ridiculous. $100 a month to watch the crap on tv but hey it never cost that much to talk on the phone either. Gotta pay if you want the stuff.

  20. 20

We just dumped cable. We have Apple TV and will be getting a Roku. We are also in the process of finding a decent antenna to catch the local news in the am.

  21. 21

Well my husband is an IT so naturally we watch all our shows via the internet which then streams through our televison..theres a program that downloads all the shows we want right after they air without commercials and we watch them the next day..no need for cable. We've been doing this for years.I've been waiting for it to catch on. Buh Bye cable companies!! :)

  22. 22

Re: Nikkicat85 – what program is that?! PLEASE SHARE!!!

  23. 23

Re: sammmmmmm – I'm not sure I would like to say it's called sick beard but I really dk lol

  24. 24

you will pay because the provide the internet as well as phone service for landlines so keep dreaming and anyway if you busy on the net how can you really watch tv with you cpu and what about the kids or if you have company over are you all going to look at a little cpu screeen , it seems unreasonable.

  25. 25

with what online tv can offer it is no wonder that cable will be replace by online TV. i recently subscribe to tvhod to have a taste of online tv and to tell you honestly it is really great. i can have access to the shows form different countries for free. amazing!
