From Broadway To The Big Screen! Constantine Maroulis Lands Cameo In Rock Of Ages

constantine maroulis to cameo in rock of ages

Nice to see them bringing him back for the movie version, even if it's only in a cameo.

American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis, who starred in the Broadway version of Rock of Ages, will be filming a small role for director Adam Shankman's movie adaptation of the stage musical.

We're sure Constantine would have probably loved to reprise his role as Drew Boley, but Shankman felt he was too old to play a 23-year-old, and we kind of agree.

We'll look forward to seeing you on the big screen soon, Constantine!

Yeah, I guess it is better than nothing. Hollywood gets it wrong a lot. They'd rather hire a trainwreck like Tom Cruise, and pay him big bucks then hire and total unknown for cheap to play this role, then hire the guy who was nominated for a Tony Award on Broadway. I like Constantine. He's talented. I hope he catches a break.

You agree with Shankman? Well, in that case, if he wanted to stay true to age with the characters, why did he cast 50 year-old Tom Cruise as Stacey Jaxx in the movie? Just sayin’!

I really don't think that guy's face would translate well on the big screen.

I would rather watch Wayne's World.

glad that American Idol has helped to launch him as a musical preformer/singer who should be able to make a good living at it
he may not become a pop star- but that withers with time usually
he is better off becasue he is off to an amazing career hopefully with greater longevity because he is talented
    .
and now Cruise is going to always be compared to a younger, more age appropriate and credible Maroulis in the role
    .
    nothing against Cruise
but there is an old saying
"dance with the one that brung ya"
    .

    in my opinion
it became a Braodway hit with and possibly because of Maroulis - so they should have stuck with him!

Thus far, hes the only performer in this mess that seems well cast and potentially worth the cost of downloading the film in future (with a heavy thumb on the fast forward).

I agree with *Sloane…ROA Broadway owes a lot of it's success to Constantine. He is amazing and should've been cast without question in the movie. I'm still trying to figure out why they cast Tom Cruise. Whatever….
