'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Will Be GONE By The End Of September!!!

dont ask dont tell formally disappears in september

SUCH wonderful news!

Earlier this month, we were thrilled to hear that Don't Ask, Don't Tell was ruled as unconstitutional, and NOW we've learned that DADT will "formally disappear" in late September!!!

As a reminder, DADT is was a ban on gays serving openly in the military.

Next, the military will need to figure out what benefits same-sex couple will receive, which sounds like it may be a bit of hurdle due to certain federal law blocks.

In the meanwhile, we're ecstatic that DADT will officially be a thing of the past in two months time! We're on our way, America!

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!

And young males will still disproportionately die in conflict while liberals continue to whine about nothing.

  2. 2

Thank God this is finally done with.

  3. 3

That picture doesn't really go with the post… "Obama raises his glass of Guiness in a local pub celebrating the end of DADT while all the local Irishman chanted Gay Gay hey hey I am Gay!" well at least I am amusing myself today.

  4. 4

And re DADT wasn't it actually an evolutionary step forward, which now needs to keep progressing vs a horrid discriminatory practice, I was pretty sure people were banned from military on the suggestion of homosexuality, and this made it a topic that couldn't be asked. And, benefits for partners regardless of sex has always been a topic, Domestic partners can be same or opposite sex, and can be written into any HR policy including the military. Stop stamping everything with a gay deal, you may actually create more hurdles than arguing for benefits for any committed relationship.

Being a military spouse, I am glad this is resolved, but think the military getting paid is far more important than this!! Many families are sick of dealing with these idiots in the government who can't figure out how to keep us from worrying whether or not we are going to get a paycheck every few months!!

DADT was kinda a protection for gays. Think about it!!! Now when a redneck homiphobic ahole finds out about a gay man's life style….how will the gay guy be treated?

  9. 9

There goes protection for gay military men. HOW DO YOU THINK HOMOPHOBICS WILL TREAT A MAN ONCE HE IS OUTED?

  10. 10

    Mario, I'm confused.
    -
July 16, 2011– A federal appeals court late Friday ordered the military to temporarily continue its “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy for openly gay service members, responding to a request from the Obama administration.

Yeah! Another positive step in getting rid of an archaic and outdated mode of thinking….Re: candkane – and WOMEN….Please know that gay women are in the military too…."gays" are women too….Gays will hopefully not live in fear, so your comment about "being outed" is hopefully not valid…. I hope Gays are too empowered to live in fear…..there is hope anyway…we can hope.

To those who say it was a protection… let me make something clear. You serve and are willing do die for your country yet if you are found out to be gay - you get dishonorably discharged which follows you for life and you lose any benefits the military would have given you. Furthermore, any homophobic person who thinks using physical violence toward any other fellow comrade gay or straight should get his arse kicked out of the military for completely lacking the integrity of that which makes him a soldier. Lastly, if you think it is so easy to just "hide who you are" - I challenge you to go one week without your wedding ring on (should you live in a state that bans gay marriage) and make no mention of your husband or wife at all during this time. Then multiply that by years…. and that is only a taste of what it must be like.

Re: jerkstore – so losers like you can sit around and bitch.

My husband makes this world a safer place by being in the Army….you sir are a lazy ass American loser!

Re: SpiceGuy – your a moron

  15. 15

Re: candkane – who cares! THIS doesn"t belong in the military

  16. 16

@Kim K's Ugly Hippo Ass: It's "you're". Better luck next time.

  17. 17

What a sad and pathetic day for America and the armed forces :(

  18. 18

Coming from a gay person in the Army

    Hell yea, about fucking time

  19. REPUB says – reply to this

    19

You people are a bunch of immoral idiots, because DADT was placed into effect to protect homosexuals in the military THERE WILL BE A RISE IN FRIENDLY FIRE DEATHS BECAUSE OF THIS REPEAL

  20. 20

Re: REPUB – Please see my comment above. Thanks.

  21. 21

Re: NookiesWA – That it was law to begin with? I know - agreed.

  22. 22

YAY!…but to fully allow same-sex military couples the benefits the earned/deserve, DOMA needs to be repealed…DOMA BAD DOMA EVIL.

OutMilitary.com, the social network for LGBT service members and their
supporters, is proud to support U.S. President Barack Obama’s decision
to certify the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.

This was, hands down, the right thing for the president to do. The
estimated 65,000 active-duty and reserve troops that bravely serve our
nation no longer have to do so in silence this September. The end of
DADT will bring equality to the ranks; an all volunteer force comprised
of Americans from every conceivable background – including lesbian women
and gay men. OutMilitary.com members are happy about Obama’s decision
to finally put an end to a discriminatory chapter in American military
    history.

OutMilitary.com provides a supportive environment for “friending,”
sharing and networking between active duty military, veterans and
    supporters – around the world.

That's great, now what about the ECONOMY

  25. 25

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, BidsGet.com
