Sources close to Amy Winehouse tell PerezHilton.com exclusively that they believe drugs were not responsible for the singer's untimely death.

Instead, they believe Amy's passing was brought on by a massive seizure.

"The hardcore drugs completely wrecked Amy's nervous system," an insider tells us. "She gave up all that [hardcore drugs] a while ago but she was still drinking heavily, which would bring on seizures."

Amy had been suffering from seizures regularly and despite being warned by doctors kept drinking.

An official autopsy has yet to be completed.

  1. 1

Thank God these insiders and yourself are not doctors.

  2. 2

I'm no doctor but a seizure caused by taking drugs in the past brought on by heavy drinking. Wouldn't that make drugs responsible for her death then???

  3. 3

Oh I"m sure someone contacted you "exclusively". God you are probably loving this death because it gives you a chance to make millions of posts about it all while gaining more hits. No true "insider" would ever come to you to report a credible story. Get real…

  4. 4

Stop being an ass, what kind of message are you expecting to give to young people when you say that drugs were not responsible for Amy's death? They were the reason she died, maybe she was not on drugs anymore (if you don't consider alcohol to be a drug, which I do) but drug abuse leads to severe health issues that will eventually kill you if you don't overdose first. I know she was your friend and you want to believe she was really trying to pull her shit together, butin the end, she was nothing but a lost cause, and she did kill herself, just not by pulling the trigger.

  5. 5

I know Lady Gaga is not Amy but Gaga drinks to much also That scares me

  6. 6

So…if the drugs and drinking caused the seizures, then wouldn't the drugs still have played a large part in her death? 'Drugs not responsible for her death' is complete BS. Also, how little do you have to value your life to keep drinking heavily even though it's causing you seizures? She obviously didn't care about her health or taking advantage of her amazing talents, so it's still hard for me to be sad about her death.

  7. 7

Mario, I want to tell you very sincerely that you are a truly evil person. You are honestly evil and you know that you are. You seem to enjoy being this way. That's sad. People are mourning Amy right now, but NO ONE is going to mourn you when it's your turn to go.

    Think about that.

  8. 8

OK now how exactly did drugs not contribute to her death? Drugs created brain seizures, triggered by alcohol which is a drug. Mario you have out done yourself with stupidity this time.

  9. 9

    Stupid Dumbass headline….irresponsible POS

  10. 10

Alcohol IS a drug if you are addicted to it.

  11. exBFF says – reply to this

    11

Same solid source who told you exclusively about Castro's death? Even if she didn't specifically overdose, years of extensive drug use are bound to have contributed.

  12. @v@ says – reply to this

    12

Speculation at this point is only just that. The body can only take so much, and sometimes even after a person is clean the cumulative damage can be too much.

  13. 13

Soooooo it was essentially drugs then. Last time I checked alcohol is a drug….one that kills 30,000+ people a year for various reasons. Tragic…RIP Amy.

  14. 14

They tried to make her go to rehab but she said no no no.

  15. 15

Your a fucking ignorant hack, you know that?

  16. 16

She may have died from alcohol withdrawal which is a very common cause of death amoung hard core drinkers who suddenly stop drinking. Seizures and cardiac arrest are very common in people experiencing heavy alcohol withdrawal. Alcohol is a big time central nervous system depressant and if your system has been suppressed for an extended period of time and all of a sudden you stop drinking, it will massively speed up in the opposite direction. Alcoholics drop dead from it all the time, you just don't hear about it because the cause of death is listed as "natural causes".

  17. Nix says – reply to this

    17

Came here to tell you that your headline completely contradicted your article, but I see its already been done.

  18. 18

    Re: JulieZ
I agree. It doesn't matter how she died but we know that years of abuse is the culprit. Drugs should not be the back burner. Organ systems eventually give out so yes your past matters.

  19. 19

Winehouse is gone wait until the autospy u people makin suggestion are not doctors BAMM!!!!!

  20. 20

I see the other readers of this site have already said what I wanted to say. If "The hardcore drugs completely wrecked Amy's nervous system", then the drugs were responsible for her death. Maybe it wasn't a drug overdose, but if she never was addicted to hardcore drugs, she would still be alive today. RIP Amy

  21. 21

um, that sounds like drugs WERE responsible. would she have nervous system issues and seizures had she not had a massive drug problem?

  22. 22

Re: Shaarrn – hahaha I thought the same exact thing.

  23. 23

Perez is saying she didn't OD and drop dead. a monkey can understand this. please use common sense and CHILL THE F OUT PEOPLE

  24. 24

Drinking isn't that much of a better substitute…

  25. 25

    Re: CHOmyGod
True, but to say that drugs did not cause her death is not a fair or true thing to say as I'm sure you agree. It's important to lots of people including me that the effects of long term drug and alcohol addiction is known.

  26. Nix says – reply to this

    26

    Re: CHOmyGod

That may be what he meant, but that is not what he said. No one knows at this point why she died and there is no point speculating. However, in the scenario that he gave drugs were definitely responsible for her death. I think its important for people to realize how much damage can be done to their body, even in ways they may not realize.

  27. 27

Everyone has already said pretty much what I wanted to say…so I will not bother repeating it.

The one thing I will say is that you are a very opportunistic person. When Amy was at her best you were her "friend", at her worst you referred to her on your blog as Amy "Wino", or "Team Wino". Now that she is gone, it's back to how "tragic" it all is. Anything to get people to your site so you can cash in.

  28. 28

Re: CHOmyGod – We all can twist his stupid words to make sense… yes she didn't probably die from an actual OD from a single over use of drugs (damn now Perez that wasn't too hard to write was it)… but his eye catching title was to infer that she died from something unrelated to addiction - you know for more hits, more hate, and more $$. He is an ass, and anyone defending his practices is either an ass, or just too young to know any better.

  29. 29

Rest in Peace never felt more appropriate. This is very sad — I was rooting for her.

  30. 30

From what I understand she was bipolar and would not take meds for it. She self medicated. So sad.

  31. 31

FUCK YOU Perez you fucking hypocrite, RIP AMY

  32. 32

FUCK YOU Perez! You fucking hypocrite bitch… RIP AMY

  33. 33

She just another dead junkie. Boo hoo.

  34. 34

"impossible tradgedy" is what you said in the post about her father… Come on Perez are you serious? We all saw this coming for years from this train wreck it was a matter of time! I've been reading you for years posting shit about her downfall. And the "friend" that you are capitalizing on the six pictures you took together! If you were a real friend you would have tried to get help for this talented troubled soul!!!

Now you're saying it wasn't drugs? Open up your eyes, your enabling of "friends" like this is the reason why she is dead. Why don't you try to do something good in your life instead of making money posting pictures of people at their worst. Shame on you.

  35. 35

Why are you acting so devestated and sad, on pretty much all your previous posts about her before she died, you called her a trainwreck. so if you were such a close friend like your claiming, you must be such a shit friend and i'd be suprised if you even have any at all. Just because you interview someone and get one or two photos taken with them does not mean your close friends! Fucking hell, why couldnt they take you instead, atleast Amy had a multitude of talent, your just a talentless fucking loser.

  36. 36

The correct title of this article should be OVERDOSE likely not responsible for Amy Winehouse's Death………..but like everyone else has said DRUGS were certainly responsible.

  37. 37

Cmon have you seen the pic on i dont like you in that way?!?!?!?

  38. 38

I know alot of people can't appreciate why we all point out the reality that is Perez on a site that he profits from. But personally it gives me a chance to specifically identify things I don't appreciate in the entertainment industry. It may not matter, but I hope it does resonate with others that his approach in life is not to be admired. I love empathy and true care and concern, I don't think Perez's comments come from an honest place, I think he fools many people and himself most of the time. So this may be his site, but his comment section is our site. I am encouraged by most peoples opinions, about this topic… and I am truly sorry for Amy and her family….

  39. 39

JESUS! These people are haters..you are reporting what you heard..calm the fuck down people. Wasted talent..hope to hear what really happened.

  40. 40

ALCOHOL is a DRUG ~ RIP AMY

  41. 41

perez is an idiot……his post makes no sense……"The hardcore drugs completely wrecked Amy's nervous system"

  42. 42

by the way did perez delete his past articles on Amy? I remember reading some nasty ones but when I searched her name only the recent nice ones came up… super sketchy

  43. 43

if she died from drug induced seizures then drugs ARE a factor in her death, idiot.

  44. 44

Drugs might have caused her seizures but people shouldnt critize what she had done. There are many addicts out there some make it and some dont. For those who have made it through the demons i give props. Amy might have been clean from drugs for a while but all the years she used had a toll on her.

  45. 45

Alcohol IS a drug. Amy's DISEASE OF ALCOHOLISM most likely killed her. She wasn't sober long enough to truly be diagnosed as being bipolar. May she rest in peace.

  46. 46

And there's a Stoli ad under this post. Hmmm

  47. 47

Alcohol is a drug and if it caused her seisures, then yeah, I'd say the drugs caused her death, fucking stupid

  48. 48

Oh Amy, I am so very sorry, and my sympathies to your Mom and Dad. That awful 27 club. May God bless and keep you and your poor parents. You were an amazing talent :(

  49. 49

Re: jillbeans – agreed at the end of the day we all have to take responsibility for what we put into our bodies and how we live our lives amy just didn't have the support she needed to combat her inner demons and her drug past contributed to her death in some form or another.

  50. 50

what's scary is that remember when a magazine i can't remember which one but they said she'd be died by thirty and i'll never forget reading that, they also said the same thing about lindsey lohan as well that is scary shit.

  51. 51

Let's not delude ourselves…..she may have quit illegal drugs, but alcohol IS a drug….therefore, if she abused alcohol, she abused a drug.

  52. 52

Let's not delude ourselves….while she might not have been taking illegal drugs, if she was abusing alcohol, she was STILL abusing drugs as alcohol IS a drug

  53. 53

I've checked out Perez's site for several years, but today I just have to say. Perez.what a hypocrite.

  54. 54

this is all so sad. however, perez, alcohol is actually a drug and is classified as a 'Depressant.' So alcohol abuse falls under drug abuse. Nevertheless, so sad that she's gone. It's unfortunate she was unable to turn her life around :(

  55. 55

agreed with you guys. sounds like it was drugs, just bc she didn't OD doesn't mean it wasn't drugs. what a mess.

  56. MG73 says – reply to this

    56

Wow, I usually give a lot of slack when it comes to less than reliable gossip posts about celebrities, but this is downright irresponsible. How can you say drugs are not likely the reason for her death? People who are not on / damaged by drugs from years of abuse don't suffer seizures from drinking alcohol. You're kidding yourself if you think that drugs didn't do this to her. Just because she MAY not have died directly from an overdose does NOT mean they did not cause her death. Oh, and last time I checked. . . alcohol is a drug too. Duh. This bitch's death is far from tragic, she chose her own fate. What happened in Norway is tragic, over 90 people died who had absolutely no choice. Get your priorities straight.

  57. 57

Oh I am so sad. God bless Amy and Perez

  58. 58

I'm so sad for her! In your 20's you think you can do anything, and that your body can take any abuse, you're young! But our bodies have limits, and at 27 she must have put her body through so much. I am so disturbed that she has predeceased her parents and brother, my heart goes out to them, they must be devastated!

  59. 59

    perez,
rest tonight. sorry for the loss of your great friend.

  60. 60

Perez you are so stupid. Seizures brought on by a system that was wrecked by drugs means that drugs were ultimately the cause of death, maybe not directly but they were.

  61. 61

    Another Illuminati ritual killing.

  62. 62

Pereuza, you re such a delusional! everyone knew she would die of drug related issue!!! get over your corruptible ego!

  63. 63

"cry me a river"., no matter what the reason……

  64. 64

some of these comments are just mean!

  65. 65

Drugs wrecked her nervous system…which lead to seizures…which lead to her death. So, drugs ARE responsible for her death. If she had never done them, she'd be alive. It doesn't have to directly be an overdose, for drugs to kill you. Look at Corey Haim. Years of drugs use wrecked his body, but he died clean. That's doesn't mean that drugs didn't cause his death.

  66. 66

of course his gonna delete all the nasty comments he posted on her…..when he used to draw cum on her face….and pee coming out her crotch….perez is a douche bag….

  67. 67

Amy Winehouse's abuse of drugs killed her; legally she did not die of an overdose - socially we all know her death was from drugs. Just like we all know Casey Anthony's lack of responsibilty for her daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, caused her death - legally she did not die at the hand's of her Mother.

  68. 68

you can die from withdrawl symptons. this still means drugs are responsible, just not an overdose.

it is a shame she has died but people need to take a look and see why she did so many drugs.
    press = sales = drugs = press = money = drugs = press…..see the cycle here?
i find it shocking that people are comparing the this with the deaths in oslo. it is a shame that anyone should have died but lets get priorities in order here. that isnt about comparison but helping with the aftermath. oslo needs more of this.

that comment is only said by the discusting amounts of 'journalists' who have covered this and no the terror attack.

  69. 69

Re: Mario_Sucks.com – Wow. That was the meanest thing I've ever read on this blog. And i've been coming here for maybe 4 years. Wow.

  70. 70

I believe I'll wait til the "official" notice, Rather than a report by an Insiders /publicist

    the headline says
"Drugs Likely Not Responsible For Amy Winehouse's Death",

then goes on to say " drugs completely wrecked Amy's nervous system," an insider tells us. "She gave up all that [hardcore drugs] a while ago but she was still drinking heavily, which would bring on seizures." WTF is alcohol if ot a drug. ?!?! She was clueless as were and are her friends

  71. 71

Yeah a massive seizure because of her on going drug abuse. The same way people don't die of AIDS they die from an outside pathogen.

  72. 72

You've got to be kidding me…the drugs are responsible, your 'source' stated it in the part about the drugs wrecking her nervous system. She did this to herself. Focus attention on real victims, like those who were killed yesterday in Norway. Far more important than this.

  73. 73

Goodbye shitty tattoos and bad teeth….

  74. 74

    alcohol is a drug duh!!

  75. 75

oh shut the fuck up Perez!!!! your site was one of the MAIN sites that kicked her when she was down!!!!!!!!!!!

  76. 76

Exactly like I said she stopped doing the drugs. But I'm disappointed that she kept drinking when she was not suppose to. Very disappointed.

  77. 77

Let's all remember that alochol is a drug!!! While a death at a young age is sad, let's remember she knew what she was doing to her body. And the body can only take so much.

  78. Rehor says – reply to this

    78

If she died of a seizure because her nervous system was wrecked DUE TO DRUG ABUSE, then drugs ARE RESPONSIBLE for Amy Whinehouse's death, even if it wasn't an overdose right? Get your facts straight and stop misinforming your readers with stupid news trying to minimise what drugs actually do to people. This is not the way to catch more fans. You're an ignorant ass.

  79. Rehor says – reply to this

    79

Re: Mad Dog – Hope no one in your family or friends die like this.

  80. 80

Addiction is not a disease. It's a life choice.

  81. 81

I would just like to state that what Perez is saying could be true. Drugs very well may have brought her to that point, however on the death certificate they would not put 'Drugs' as the preliminary. It would be what specifically he died from.
On another note, whether Perez is in denial as some of you are saying, about the drugs, it doesn't matter. Talentless or not, she died. Many people have today. We should be focused on trying to help ourselves. She's already dead so it's too late, but she was obviously very tortured by demons. No one here can judge her because to let go of being healthy shows you are conflicted. We don't know her life.

  82. 82

oK EVERYONE KEEP TAKING DRUGS. THAT WON'T KILL YOU ITS ONLY ALCOHOL! Stupid thing to put. It should have read what a waste of time. People take drugs usually because they aren't brave, want to fit in (which is stupid), or some do want to drown out some sort of pain. But most of us don't grow up saying "I can't wait to get loaded for the first time". Most do it only because they want to fit in. Sadly there are those who become addicted the first time they do it. Some get out and some don't. Those who don't eventually die. DON'T TAKE DRUGS IT CLASS LESS AND REALLY STUPID TO WATCH AND DO.

  83. 83

Re: Melissa is always RIGHT – You're a moron

  84. 84

Re: bunnycake – It's not my fault you are confused by the truth.

  85. REPUB says – reply to this

    85

    who the hell cares

  86. 86

Re: Melissa is always RIGHT – have you struggled with an addiction? and even if so, maybe it was easy for you to take control over but you don't know anyone elses position but your own. That is an incredibly ignorant statement.

  87. 87

then that would make drugs responsible Perez. Don't sugercoat it and make it believe drugs didn't kill this girl, when they fucking did.

  88. 88

Re: Melissa is always RIGHT – I'm very much aware of the truth. I've worked with addicts directly. What source does YOUR sense of "truth" come from? Show your degree that states you're qualified to make a statement like that, then I'll take back calling you a moron.

  89. 89

Re: beeonkah – Without getting to personal with you, because I owe you nothing, obviously I know enough to make a statement such as that. Small minds don't have the ability to see the bigger picture. It's easier to go with something more comforting "she had a disease" - no, she did drugs; drugs that she chose to do. Just like by her own power, she could have chose to stop and get and remain healthy. I've seen it happen several times.

  90. 90

General John Shalikashvili died today too. American hero gets zero press.maybe should have gotten a crack habit

  91. 91

Re: Melissa is always RIGHT – Yes, it was their choice to do the drugs. Maybe in the rarest of cases where someone forces you. However, to get to that point shows how much distress you're in. A select few people tried to help her while she was alive and using…but when it comes to things like these…someone should've been there for her before she even had the chance to get to that point. You've seen it happen, so have I. Not everyone can deal with the same things, and some people have worse demons than others. This I know.

  92. 92

Did the Olsen twins not send in their 'security team' before the police arrived …. ?

  93. 93

I'd also like to add that an addiction is for the rest of your life. I'm not sure how something PHYSICALLY addictive and MENTALLY could pass right by the person and they never have an issue with it again in any circumstance. Time is the enemy and the friend. There is not a difference between someone sober for 5 years vs 5 days. No one knows what could happen in each of our lifetimes.

  94. 94

R.I.P. Amy Winehouse. God Bless Amy, her family and her dearest.

Please stop the negative talk. Seriously.

  95. 95

Re: RachelSarahM – Yup, the same thing happened with me. I found a few recent ones where he referred to her as "Wino". But they magically disappeared.

  96. 96

I still can't believe that she's passed on. Yes, she did had her moments. But still she was someone with serious skills and brought back that old trend of artists actually having talent. I saw her once when we were in Camden (UK), I spoke and she smiled with her head slanted to the side with those eyes….RIP Amy Winehouse.

  97. 97

I'm looking at those photos and damn, she's quite well dressed for a dumb and ugly junkie whore with fake tits and shitty tattoos

  98. 98

Re: CHOmyGod – How much is Perez paying you? Brown noser…

  99. 99

"Just to make him smile, makes my life worth while."

This is sad to me. I remember, being on YouTube- almost two months ago and watching clips of the magnetism between her and Blake, when the couple was together.

I believe the news in May put her on the edge and I believe some people can die from a broken heart. RIP- You extraordinary, song bird. I will never stop listening to your music.

"Everyone says there'll come a day
When I'll walk alongside of Him" :')

No one will ever rock a poof like, you! :')

  100. 100

Yeah, and knives had nothing to do with Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman's death. What kind of fucked up morons print shit like this? Next these douchebags will say, "it was an accidental overdose" like they always do to coverup for their celbretard buddies.
