We can't even begin to process this.

Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her London apartment.

According to a press release from the Metropolitan Police:

"Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."

This is so unbelievably devastating on so many levels. She truly was such a talent.

Our sincerest condolences go out to her family, friends, and loved ones during this impossibly difficult time.

May she R.I.P.

UPDATE:

Scotland Yard has confirmed that there were no signs of foul play at Winehouse's apartment, and that an autopsy has been scheduled to take place tomorrow to determine cause of death.

UPDATE #2:

London authorities have released an official statement regarding Amy's passing.

Superintendent Raj Kohli says:

"Next of kin have been informed, and I can confirm that officers are now satisfied that the deceased is Amy Winehouse. I am aware of reports suggesting this death is the result of a suspected drugs overdose, but I would like to re-emphasize that no post-mortem examination has yet taken place and it would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause of death."

  5. 5

Not suprising, the girl was an addict who couldn't overcome her problems.Still an awful waste and she was very young. RIP

  6. 6

    Shoulda gone to rehab.

  7. 7

Did anyone really not see this coming? What an incredible waste of talent.

  8. 8

Poor girl I though she was on the road to recovery from drugs :( I really liked her songs she has a, sorry HAD a beautiful voice…

  9. 9

No surprise there. She was a drug addict and this was the inevitable conclusion.

  10. 10

yeah perez. after you made fun of her all these years…NOW you change your mind. You're DISGUSTING perez.

  11. 11

"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent…" RIP baby girl.

  12. 12

My God.. I can't even. Wow. RIP. She was so talented..

  13. 13

It's probably because of a**hole f*gs like you that make fun of her, Perez! Search her name on your site and look at all the posts (ratio of positive-to-negative). Don't you feel like a f*cking prick now??

  14. 14

    wow, i'm so upset!!

  15. 15

Yep, already read it on several other sites.. does it really surprise anyone?

  16. 16

    this is unbelievable…

    such a talented girl D:

  17. 17

They tried to make me go to rehab and I said NO, NO, NO

  18. 18

RIP Amy Winehouse!!! She will always be remembered as a great artist who left us too soon. She died at age 27, just like Janis Joplin. She will be forever missed.

  19. 19

very tragic. May she find the peace she couldn't find here on earth.

  20. 20

    So, so sad. RIP Amy.

  21. 21

I can't imagine anybody being surprised by this. That being said, she was a very talented young woman with terrible demons. I hope she is finally at peace.

  22. 22

Not much of a talent, and I bet we're told that she was just another OD. Another junky bites the dust.

  23. 23

May you finally be at peace, Amy. So sad.

  24. 24

strange, this is not surprising at all but still a massive shock. she was so incredibly talented. and so young. my heart breaks for her parents.

  25. 25

She had such talent. I'm sorry to see that she couldn't overcome her battles. rip

  26. 26

really sad but not even surprised

    27

I can't stop crying. She was way too young to go. I hate drugs and the devastation they inflict on the users and their families. I wish so badly that she had been able to overcome the disease of addiction. Hopefully she is at peace…she will be missed.

  28. 28

She may have been a drug addict, but she had super talent. Such a shame that she had to pass away like this. No one deserves to die, especially when it was evitable. May her soul rest in peace. :(

  29. 29

As much as she brought this on herself it is very sad. She must have been an extremely troubled lady and it's very sad to think she couldn't get off the road to destruction. It's so easy for people to sit back and say she did this to herself, i have no sympathy etc etc but it must be hard to climb back up the slippery slope. RIP Amy

  30. 30

What's more sad is that this was reported before her dad Mitch was advised. He still doesn't know that his daughter is dead … he's on a plane right now to America to perform in a jazz festival. Daily Mail has reported that he's going to be told in person when the plane lands. So the whole world knows right now but her father doesn't. THAT's sad.

  31. 31

Least surprising death of the year so far.

  32. 32

I obviously knew she had a drug problem, but recently she looked a lot better. She was so talented.

  33. 33

    Hate to say it

But we all saw it coming. Live your life fast, you end up dying fast. Sad truth everyone has to live by.

Nonetheless RIP Amy, and condolences to her family

  34. 34

Wow … this is really sad .. she was very talented ..

    R.I.P Amy Winehouse :'(!!

  35. 35

    Shocked, but not surprised?

  36. 36

OMG, RIP Amy. Sooooo sad, such a shame she couldn't kick her habits despite all the help she got.

  37. 37

OMG. This is too sad. She was only 27. She died at the same age as Janis Joplin. Two bright stars that flamed out due to drugs and addiction. So sad. May she rest in peace.

  38. 38

It's such a shame to see another talented artist dead at such a young age. This is an example of why you should never do drugs.

  39. mw says – reply to this

    39

no surprise…very sad. a cautionary tale..

  40. 40

Damn, she was so talented. Shame, a modern day Janis Joplin.

  41. 41

LISTEN PEOPLE ADDICTION IS A DISEASE

  42. 42

Sad that no one could reach her. What a waste……

  43. 43

So upsetting. I don't want to blame anyone btu in this case I blame Blake and her management. One of the greatest icons of all time. R.I.P.

  44. 44

I am sad, Wino had a death wish, and finally she did it!! I loved her music, her lost soul, drugs, alcohol, and Incarcerated Blake did not mixed well! RIP

  45. 45

wtf, to some of you, show a little sympathy, someone just died. why comment if you're just going to be an asshole?! she may have had a troubled past, but she was really talented. RIP Amy.

  46. 46

SOO SAD :"( I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS HAPPEN IS JUST A TRAGIC .. HER ONLY NKOW ALBUM IS ONE OF MY FAVER OF ALL TIME, SHE WAS SUCH A TALENT BUT SHE NEVER WANT TO GET BETTER ANYMORE.. SAD SAD SAD.. R.I.P AMY WINEHOUSE A SUPERSTAR WITH AN INCREDEBLE TALENT YOUR MUSIC WILL BE IN MY HEART !!!

  47. 47

    WOW! I'm shocked and not shocked….so sad……R.I.P

  48. 48

So terribly saddening, yet another member of the 27 club. RIP AMY!

  49. 49

    Devasted what a waste,poor little girl…

  50. 50

I'm not surprised by this news given her lifestyle but I am sad to hear it. She had an amazing talent. RIP Amy. My condolences to her family and friends.

  51. 51

Is this a surprise to anyone? She had some talent but wasted it by being a drug addict.

  52. 52

This makes an otherwise boring Sunday a little exciting. Thank you Amy for helping me through this difficult time of my day.

  53. 53

    So sad to hear :(
This girl had such amazing talent - such a great voice. I kept hoping that she would get her life together and produce more music.
I hope she is now resting in peace.

  54. 54

so sad that she couldn`t sort it out.xxxx

  55. 55

Even though she was an addict, I didn't see it coming at all, at her age anyway. Kind of hoped she would get out of the whole mess. So sad. RIP, Amy!

  56. 56

Can't say I'm really affected by this, but I know what effect drugs have on people. Addiction is the hardest thing in the world to overcome, and it's so sad that she couldn't fight it all the way. My thoughts are with her family, though.

  57. 57

    R.I.P. so sad.

  58. 58

Whats the surprise here?? Wasn't it posted here somewhere that she would be dead in a month?? It's sad don't get me wrong..but not a surprise..

    60

ps addiction is tough. so sad.

  61. 61

It's the cursed 27…Hendrix, Joplin, Cobain, and now Winehouse. The world has lost a talented singer today. My thoughts and prayers go to her family and loved ones.

  62. 62

This is so sad, but expected. How many more celebrities are going to ruin their lives because of drugs and alcohol. I think everyone was expecting this to happen to Amy.

  63. 63

This kind of thing just pisses me off. There should be some kind of law that forces all addicts like Amy to go to a rehab for a year and not have the ability to get out for the entire year. Like a jail to force them to get clean one way or another. Such a talent wasted.

  64. 64

Re: BeeLahhve – so he's been making fun of her all these years? Why keep coming here if he does that? If you really read his amy winehouse articles you would know Perez always wished she'd get over her problems. Grow up

  65. 65

Glad that Perez has now learnt how to be *respectful* wile reporting death. R.I.P Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson.

  66. 66

Re: NotHatingJustStating – Very, very well said.

  67. 67

No matter who it is, 27 is just too damn young. I honestly hope that everyone who enabled her can sleep at night after this. Their gravy train has left the station. RIP Amy.

  68. 68

One of the greatest vocalists in the last 10 years. So sad that we will never know if she could have got it together and made a come back.

  69. 69

You are a pathetic hypocrite! For years you made fun of her and called her Wino and posted unflattering photos of her. Now you are sad? You are only devastated because you can no longer make fun of her.

  70. 70

Re: ParisIsBurning – That's really low to wish harm on others. If you were trying to be funny, you surely were not.

  71. 71

Oh Amy, may your troubled soul find peace now.

  72. 72

Sooooo sad, such talent. My heart goes out to her family. Thnak you Amy for the great music and I am so sorry you had such a short and hard time in this earth. R.I.P.

  73. 73

Sad, my ass. Fuck her, she got what she deserved. She was a miserable piece of shit junkie who had EVERY opportunity in life to get clean and do the right thing, but noooo. She wont go, no no no. Fuck her. She mocked the idea of rehab in her songs, well now you're dead and rotting bitch.

  74. 74

That's what you get for being a booze/drug hound. Stay away from that shit!

I'll never understand the appeal of drugs, I really wont. All that talent gone down the shitter.

  75. 75

wow, it's a big shock but we've seen it coming, she was a troubled soul and her addiction won in the end, RIP

  76. 76

Re: Mergers – along with jim morrison, jimi hendrix and kurt cobain

  77. 77

Re: XTINA IS A POP MUSIC ICON!!! BITCHES!! – 'Her only known album'? You've never heard of her first album, Frank, which was certified gold or platinum throughout Europe (+ Brazil) and got certified triple platinum in the UK?

  78. 78

you're probably the last website to post this.

  79. 79

Don't do drugs, kids. No one believes they'll get addicted, but it's always a choice: all it takes is one drink, one puff, one hit, and then you throw all your talent and money down the toilet, and flush your family and friends down with you.
I loved her 'Black' album, but she chose drugs instead of her art. She chose to be weak. Be stronger than she ever could be.

  80. 80

she was who i use to visit your page for. a few years ago, you couldn't scroll down your website without at least two pics of her. she had an amazing voice, watching her make music was hypnotizing and her lyrics were real. a true rock star. r.i.p amy!

  81. 81

    What a sad event…such a shame

  82. 82

This is so sad,I'm speechless. She was truly talented, you will be missed Amy!

  83. 83

Oh my god, so sad. Years ago I got to know about Amy via Perezhilton.com. When I followed your youtube-link to 'Back to Black' I was overwhelmed, so much I loved it. And then the rest of the CD, too.

    RIP Amy

  84. 84

    Anyone surprised raise your hand.

  85. 85

Not a big surprise. I dont really care her best days of singing are behind her anyway and there are plenty of other singers to take her place.

  86. 86

It's sad to think she had such little value for life. There are so many people dying in the world from incurable diseases that have no choice. She had a choice, but instead chose to follow her own self destructive path. Her actions were selfish and only leave heartache and sorrow to those she left behind. I feel no pity for her. I feel pity for talent such as John Lennon, Eva Cassidy, Selina, Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, John Denver, Eddie Rabbit, George Harrison….etc, just to name a few. I am sure they would love to still be here singing away~ Dumping all my Amy cd's…..Shame on her.

  87. 87

As sad as this is, it's truly not unexpected! She couldn't fight the drugs that have taken away far too many people. I place a lot of the blame for this on her ex husband who is a piece of crap who fed her addiction! Shame on you!

  88. 88

started balling my eyes out when I heard this… I will forever love this woman i don't care what she did its what she said and what she felt.. something everyone can relate to…she was the voice of this generation… now we are stuck with total jackass fake people like niki minaj or lady gaga… NO SOUL in their music, just fillers…this woman was REAL… i'm in denial i'm in shock i'm very upset but i know she is in a better place… let's continue the legacy and listen to her music, listen to soul and jazz, stuff people pour their whole hearts and life into as amy did-u represent a strong fearless woman to me and u always will i love you i hope our spirits can meet one day, love and peace amy

  89. 89

Now if only that other british piece of shit junkie Pete Doherety will just fucking die too.
Fuck all junkies. They are all selfish liars with death wishes. I say give them all the crack and booze they want and let them all do themselves in. Fuck em. No rehab, no interventions. Just let them die and rot, and the world will be free of one less weakling crackhead.

  90. 90

Re: ParisIsBurning – There is something seriously wrong with you. No normal person would say that. I think you need to work on yourself. With that being said, this is so sad. I know Amy's dad tried so hard to save her, I'm sure he (and many, many others) are utterly devastated right now. I wish them nothing but good in what is probably the hardest moment of their lives. RIP Amy.

  91. chiro says – reply to this

    91

Perez, you talked so much crap about her and now your like "My sincere condolences?!" WTF!

  92. 92

I want to this to be a sad and Cruel LESSON to young hollywood this young and talented young woman lost her life at such a young age. Though we do not know what the cause were we can speculate that it is due to her heavy drug use. For those who say that they seen it coming remember that it does it make the situation any less sad. Amy had a beautiful and unique voice. She was an unusual talent with a terrible and dark life style. I am trying my best to not be over dramatic when I beg young hollywood to please use another sad death as an example to stop taking drugs. I know it is not that easy to do but please her parents and family are grieving for their lost now. I am sure they would do anything in their power to have her alive and well again. Trust me when I say though I do not know Amy personally I feel despair and my heart is held by the frozen grip of shock. I can't believe the mighty Amy has fallen to the cheap and unfaithful lover that is drugs.

  93. 93

Back in 2006 when the only music coming out seemed like overprocessed, saccharine, yet likeable pop, I was introduced to the music of Amy Winehouse. At the time, I said "Thank God for Amy Winehouse." She broke the mold and was a supreme talent. My heart breaks for her family and friends, bandmates and fans. Goodnight sweet Princess. And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest . . .

  94. 94

to be honest..i didnt believe it..she was such a awesome artist..may she r.i.p
    always loved and never forgotten!!!

  95. 95

Perez, you gotta stop making fun of people who suffer from addiction. It's a disease and it's not funny. People don't become addicts on purpose. It's not fun for us. It's not to get attention. Why didn't you call her "wino" hmmmm? You should use your blog and your fame or whatever you want to call it to encourage people to get help and not treat them like shit.

  96. 96

Another 12-Step Religious Cult Success Story….

The 12-Step Religious cult IS KILLING PEOPLE!

  97. 97

Such a talent, I feel so badly that she couldn't get the help she needed. Alcoholism and drug addiction are so scary…so many people don't make it, even with multiple rehab stints. She's at peace now.

  98. 98

I wasn't a Amy Winehouse fan but this is still a sad thing. Kids, don't do drugs. R.I.P. Amy. I'm still more shocked about the Norway Massacre.

  99. 99

    BE FREE AMY…..R.I.P

  100. 100

Perez has stopped caring about this website. I miss the old days when he would post all the stories, most of them anyway. It's now such a clusterfuck, it's not b/c you're being "nice" now, it's just your lack of passion in the website that is evident. Too many ads, too much. It's turning into myspace type of thing and pretty soon no one will visit.
