We can't even begin to process this.

Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her London apartment.

According to a press release from the Metropolitan Police:

"Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."

This is so unbelievably devastating on so many levels. She truly was such a talent.

Our sincerest condolences go out to her family, friends, and loved ones during this impossibly difficult time.

May she R.I.P.

UPDATE:

Scotland Yard has confirmed that there were no signs of foul play at Winehouse's apartment, and that an autopsy has been scheduled to take place tomorrow to determine cause of death.

UPDATE #2:

London authorities have released an official statement regarding Amy's passing.

Superintendent Raj Kohli says:

"Next of kin have been informed, and I can confirm that officers are now satisfied that the deceased is Amy Winehouse. I am aware of reports suggesting this death is the result of a suspected drugs overdose, but I would like to re-emphasize that no post-mortem examination has yet taken place and it would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause of death."

Addiction sucks. Rest in Peace, Amy. :(

  2. 202

I will show ZERO respect to some privileged crackhead who had every opportunity in life that others could only dream of and she threw it all away to get high. Fuck that shit. She made the choice to be a crackhead and now she's fucking dead.
Good riddance to another piece of shit weakling junkie.

  3. 203

could all the people who are saying "we saw this coming" and "she did it to herself" please go and wank off to pictures of bunny rabbits having sex (or whatever) like they usually spend their days doing. it's hilarious how you think your being so cool, "we KNEW this would happen, i mean cooooome oooon, we like totally saw this coming". no one gives one solitary fuck about your pathetic attempts to be cool. it's sad, childish and boring the fucking tits off all of us who are tryin to pay our respects. how about you all meet up and discuss how you KNEW it was going to happen and how much it was her fault away from all the normal people till eventually you annoy the shit out of each other so much that you end up killing each other. once again, FUUUUUUCCCCK OOOOOOOOFFF.

  4. 204

Amy joined the 'club 27' , Hendrix, Morrison , Joplin and Cobain.
R.I.P Amy, very charismatic but very troubled :(

  5. 205

Re: La Garse – Perez only reported what this dumb junkie bitch was doing, so did everyone else. Is it somehow their fault she was a miserable loser crackhead?
No. She did it to herself. Now she's dead. Fuck her. She got what she deserved.

  6. 206

This is so sad…but you kinda saw it coming.

  7. 207

Re: WatchGuardian – It is a choice to go untreated, but there is science regarding a predisposition to addictive behavior. Addiction is evil, whether it be smoking, eating, shopping, drinking, or drugging.

  8. 208

Re: madonnafan is a fucking loser – Duh, everyone knew it was going to end this way, it was only a matter of time. Who cares? 90 kids lay dead in Norway but this crackhead piece of trash gets all the attention? Disgusting.

  9. 209

Re: WatchGuardian – AHAHAH you will never ever have the talent she had, never touch the world the way she had, never internationally dominate the charts or people's hearts they way she has. you only have your hate, your little computer and your keys to type your hate. sad pathetic c%$t.

  10. 210

Poor thing i liked her music alot!!

  11. 211

Wow… Didnt see that coming, using heroin every day must really be bad for you after all. Please dont refer to this hack as a legend, she was not by any means. She was a talent wasting junkie. She was given a gift and she wasted it on needles up her arms.

  12. 212

I knew it'd happen before she was 28. Didn't she want to be part of the 27 group/club?
But I saw it coming… still such a voice and she was beautiful, maybe not everyone saw it when she was falling about but in that picture… It's such a shame.
RIP Amy, Back to Black.. a legendry song.

  13. 213

amy winehouse was no legend she only had a 1 hit album she was talented but she wasted it all. on doing drugs I am surprised kieth richards is still here.

  14. 214

Re: WatchGuardian – I get wear you are coming from… and dying from OD or consequences to drinking is avoidable. Most people can use the term disease as a way to say it isn't avoidable…. but there is valid treatment. She may not have chosen to have her brain circuitry scrambled towards addiction, but she did choose not to take the needed steps to get better.

  15. LNW says – reply to this

    215

We don't know if it was her drug addiction, she did have an eating disorder, we all know she did, she was scarily skinny. It can make you go into cardiac arrest or have a heart attack.

  16. Thor says – reply to this

    216

Cant process? It's shouldnt be that freakin' hard!! She was on a downward spiral for years!! Her parents and everyone close to her where at wits end! To be expected, but sad none the less!!!

  17. 217

RIP, Amy. Sing in heaven with God by your side.

  18. Laury says – reply to this

    218

We all saw it coming, but it doesn't make it any less sad. She was such an amazing talent. May she rest in peace and rock out in heaven with the other legends who died at 27.

  19. kimmy says – reply to this

    219

Yeah! That was the first word out of my mouth. Hated this UNTALENTED, DRUGGIE! Now let's see if we can add Lindsay Lohan to the list of OD LOSERS. I can't believe you people actually seem sad that this piece of trash is finally gone!

  20. 220

We all knew this was going to happen sooner than later, but it's sill very sad. Such a talent wasted away. She is now the Janis Joplin of the 21st century. Don't do drugs kids.

  21. 221

I feel bad for her loved ones, not her she did this to herself

  22. 222

Amy Whinehouse was a hard core drug addict and her body was a mess but deep inside she was a humble and talented and sweet and beautiful soul. I hope God can help her be happy at last.

  23. 223

wow can't believe . so sad she was so talented .

  24. 224

    So sad, such a waste.

  25. Laury says – reply to this

    225

    Re: kimmy
Go to hell, you fucking heartless piece of shit.

  26. 226

Re: madonnafan is a fucking loser – why do you assume people think it's 'cool' to say it? They're right, it isn't rocket science. If someone struggles with alcohol and drugs for years and years, shows up drunk, looks wasted most of the time, it doesn't come as a surprise when that person is reported dead after a while. It can still be sad or come as a shock, but seeing Winehouse's lifestyle and the fact that people have been saying it for years (that she's going to end up dead if she doesn't get a grip on her life) this is one death that people saw coming. And could have been prevented

  28. 228

    Poor Pete…..

  29. 229

The stinch of death was all around her it was a matter of time. Hope there is a haven and in your case a haven with tons and tons of drugs. Please stay dead.

  30. 230

I honestly thought she was getting better. I thought she had to eventually. Thats what happens. People are sick and they get better. I never expected her to die.

  31. 231

Re: LG is NEW and IMPROVED – BBD heard the tore down the overpass on the 405 you and bunny were living under!

  32. 232

Re: WatchGuardian – Yes, he was reporting what she was doing, but going beyond that by calling her names and being mean in what he said. She made the choices she made, and I doubt anyone held a gun to her head and forced her to become an addict. But addiction is a condition — I don't call it a disease — that requires special treatment. No matter what she did, she was too young to die. That she did it to herself is beside my point, and it's not my place to judge her because I don't have her condition.

  33. 233

    OMG!!!!! RIP Sweetheart!!

  34. 234

R.I.P Amy, you went at 27 like all the greats.

you fake piece of shit Perez! you were so giddy at her failings, posting them on your site and now you "cant begin to process" her death. Fuck you!

  35. 235

A terrible shame but certainly not unexpected. Wake up LL and Charlie. Drugs DO kill you…

  36. 236

Re: WatchGuardian – And unfortunately you weren't one of them !!! Shut the fuck up asshole.

  37. 237

    This was sadly so predictable…

Her music will go on and she will stay forever young in our collective memory. When you get as far as she went in terms of drug use it is almost better to go young, she could no longer perform and I doubt that she could come back in the future. Look at Whitney Huston, once you mess with crack you just stay marked for life, that shit eats you up inside.

  38. 238

She should have gone to rehab.

  39. 239

such great talent, went all to waste. RIP Amy

  40. 240

    So sad… R.I.P. Amy!

  41. 241

Why are people stating the obvious? We all know she was a drug addict the need of some ppl to be happy b/c they saw her death coming is gross. Do you want a prize b/c you predicted the obvious? It's still sad for the ppl who cared about her. So have all the arguments you want still doesn't make a difference, her music will be remember long after your hateful comment is forgotten. Can we just judge her base on her music that's what she gave us, her personal life/choices was her's alone.

  42. 242

This is so sad. Unbelievable. Oh, Amy…why….

  43. 243

This is devastating news, altho, not exactly shocking. Even tho you just posted a pic of her calling her "healthier" looking, you said many cruel things about her last show and agreed with the mean crowd that boo'd her off stage. You cannot deny you said many mean things about Amy and she never did a damn thing to you! We will miss her. You will feign your sympathy. Meh, you suck, she's an awesome talent. R.I.P Amy. xoxo

  44. 244

Its funny how people who was dogging these people be the same ones talking like they loved them when they are gone. Words are like venom, and like a snakes' venom they can become deadly. Watch what you say.

  45. 245

What a waste! Such a talented woman with so many years ahead of her. The music she could have made would have been phenomenal. My condolences go out to her family and friends. She seemed like a really cool person!

  46. 246

Re: ParalyZzzZzer – There are many members of this club you mentioned. You forgot Brian Jones, the original founder of The Rolling Stones. Many more, too many to mention. Jazz greats, some obscure. But so strange about Club 27. My son is 27 and a muscian. I guess if they make it to 28, they got it made. Yet, Keith Richards will live to 100. So weird. This is a very sad day, indeed.

  47. 247

I didn't believe my mum when she told me, not wholly unexpected but it had seemed like she was getting better but I guess not. Another gone at 27, such a waste…

  48. 248

    [re=5809101]Re: pinkbullet
you say "It's so easy for people to sit back and say she did this to herself, i have no sympathy etc etc but it must be hard to climb back up the slippery slope" I say "BS" ,,, and yes, I do have the right to say so. Active drunk and drug addict for 31 years,,, clean & sober drunk and drug addict for 30 years. She has had more than one session of treatment so she had all the knowledge she needed. She like myself and every other drunk and druggie took every dose they consumed by their own conscious decision without regards to the consequences. My wife was told more than once that I may or may not walk out of the hospital, or go out in a body bag. But I continued to consume until I decided that I didn't want to die anymore. She had all the opportunity she needed to stop her destructive life style. There Is no reason to "hate" drugs and or alcohol, 90% of the people can and do drink socially with no adverse reaction.

  49. 249

i can't beleive people are actually making jokes. disgusting. You're music will live on. I love you, Amy.

  50. 250

anybody really surprised..this is very sad….

  51. 251

Dear Lindsey Lohan: This should be a wake up call to you! Sad.

  52. 252

Re: raypearson – Maybe you're just a stronger person than she was…

  53. 253

When I saw the headline it was like a punch in the heart. I really thought she'd be the female Keith Richards and live on and on in spite of what she's done to herself. So I was genuinely surprised, though many here were not.

  54. 254

haha owned. Thats what the useless durggie gets. Don't feel sorry for someone railing lines of coke and chugging down liquor 24/7.

  55. 255

I don't feel sorry for drug abusers. Nobody forced them to take drugs.

  56. 256

Hendrix, Cobain, Morrison, Joplin and the others now have a new fiery angel to party with in the 27 Club. A Star has Died, but a Legend is Born. R.I.P. Amy!!

  57. 257

A lost soul, loved her music, but I was always rooting for her to turn a new leaf. Sad to see it end this way. Rest in peace Amy.

  58. 258

Amy was really talented. Fuck, this is really sad. I know Amy had her demons, but I thought she was going to clean and probably not end up like the rest of them. Now she's apart of the "27 club." RIP

  59. 259

Re: Cha_Cha_the famous – She tried to make a come back and even when her studio songs sounded good in concert she was a mess.
Im afraid to say she was a junkie and we all know their end. Pitifuly she wasted her amazing talent and her young life. Hopefuly she is in peace with her demons now.

  60. 260

My heart is heavy. From the first time I heard her, she was my all time favorite. Her talents will be greatly missed. Peace be with her soul and her family……

  61. 261

    So so sad RIP :(

  62. 262

To all you people saying…"I don't feel sorry for her, she had it coming"…FUCK YOU ALL! You have no idea what goes on in a person's head that leads them to self destruct. I think it would be hard enough being an addict as a normal person, but to be famous and have the scrutiny of the press always on your ass must have been a nightmare. It's so easy to sit back and judge another person's position, but unless you are there yourself…you have NO IDEA! Yeah, she was a fuck up, and yeah she paid the price, but belittling her in her death is so not cool. She had a mother and a father and a lot friends that knew her for what she really was. So the next time you talk shit, just think how your family friends would feel if they lost you and they read comments of people laughing and ridiculing your death. And you all say she was sick? I beg to differ!

  63. 263

Dead she is…Legend she is not…

  64. 264

wake up call for all the Hollywood drug addicts.

  65. 265

Why has every great talent (Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison) past away at the age of 27. Now we lost another great talent at the age of 27. RIP Amy Winehouse.

  66. 266

why are people comparing her to Janis exactly? because they died at the same age? JANIS HAD TALENT PEOPLE!! her music had staying power, winehouse was simply a crackhoe riding off the fame of ONE SONG
i feel bad for her, but not that much, bitch could barely control her crack addiction long enough to come out with more than one successful album, she will be completely forgotten in 5 years tops!

  67. 267

Re: mstarr22 – I agree that she isn't like Janis in any way, It is just the number 27 that keeps poppin up. But Amy had a talent, she just never used it completely.

  68. 268

every time a junkie passes away, an angel gets its wings

  69. 269

    any surprise there?

  70. 270

    so talented
    so tortured
    so tragic

  71. 271

To be honest, this isn't surprising but it is extremely sad! I hope she gets peace now whereever she is. RIP :(

  72. 272

why not better britney spears died instead of Amy Winehouse?

  73. 273

Sweetie RIP! OMG you will be missed. IMHO that photo above is one of the best I've ever seen of her. I wish she could have made it back from her drug hell.
Amy is in the arms of the angels.

  74. 274

Re: Mergers – She right up there with Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix, Curt Cobain and maybe a couple more too. 27 seems to be the number when they pass. Very sad. Prayers to her family!

  75. 275

    What the?
She had a true and great talent, to bad the drugs won.
    R.I.P

  76. 276

Couldnt get passed the evil of addiction. May she rest in peace now. You will missed Amy Winehouse. Blessing to her family and friends.

  77. 277

Re: spinsugar – lol shut the fuck up ’cause you look so stupid right now. Where are these posts that you are talking about where Perez makes fun of Amy??

  78. 278

Such a talent..:( UK would miss you

  79. 279

When I saw her face on my E! app, the first thing I thought was she was dead. I was right, and my heart dropped. R.I.P

  80. 280

    SAD. R.I.P.

  81. 281

    rip amy
    you'll never be forgotten

  82. 282

Re: cvalentine1981 – Lindsey Lohan's legacy will be? What? Mean Girls? & going to court? She has no enduring legacy. & when she leaves us she will have known better as well. That girl thinks she is too good to be an addict, but she totally is and lives in denial. Amy was for real and has a legacy, her music and her iconic image. LL is a twat.

  83. 283

So sad about this, still so young. I hope she has found some peace.

  84. 284

Re: NookiesWA – You must be so disturbed and so empty.

  85. 285

Well I feel bad for her friends and family…it just angers me. regardless if she had no drugs in her body or if it was a seizure due to all the drugs shes taken in the past..this could have all been prevented from the first day she tried coke or whatever else she took. I've been offered lots of things and have easily said "no". Guess it's not as easy as that for others.. I didn't think she was talented but it is sad how she basically killed herself slowly. Very sad way to go.

  87. 287

I was always a big fan of hers, and I was deeply saddened to hear about her death. unfortunately I was not too surprised to hear it. she was so talented, but her addictions really got the best of her. I hope she is in a better place now. RIP amy, my deepest condolences to her friends and family.

  88. 288

although this probably doesn't come as a shock to many, it's still a sad day.

    RIP :(

  91. 291

Very sad she is a human being people remember…

  92. 292

so sad to end this way

    take care pretzel xoxox

  93. 293

it is sad as human beings for her to die. but to this world and the corporation she belonged to she was just a high priced hooker, who got led into sex drugs and rock and roll. these big corporate companys all pop star work for are working for a pimp. they are simply sex kittens to them. they are their master and these mindless celebrity girls only see dollar signs and a promised happy life but then get used and abused. and when they are hooked into the drugs and start a down fall their so called loving sponsers are no where to be found.. but rather out finding new talent a.k.a hotter younger "dolls" as they say… these hot celebs out now are getting their fifteen minutes of fame, but once they are in way to deep and to fucked up to perform (due to their so giving "the man") and start making scenes they simply just die… i dont know about you but to me this world is headed into a bad future with no morals, no honor, no justice and we will all be fucked because most of this fuckin country is full of mindless peoplE! TO MANY FOLLOWERS AND NOT ENOUGH LEADERS! AND TO BEYONCE JAYZ AND RHI RHI, WE ALL KNOW UR SECRETS, SELLOUT TO THE DEVIL! ;) ON A MUCH HAPPIER NOTE.. happy birthday slash!

  94. 294

Did the Olsen twins not send in their 'security team' before the police arrived … ?

  95. 295

A 'modern day Janis Joplin'? Christ. She was a living breathing slap in the face to all the truly talented artists out there who would have given their left nut for the opportunity she had. Goodbye, turd!

Boo Hoo! You've hurt my feelings…now I'm gonna cry!

Really? That's the best you can do bitch? You have about as much creativity as this 'dead druggie'.

  98. 298

I'm so sad to see this…she was ridiculously talented. She's apart of the 27 club now along with Jimi, Janis, Jim, Kurt and Brian.

  99. 299

Re: flowersforme – You're right- it is selfish, especially for those that she left behind. But the thing is, you don't understand that personal hell until you've lived through it yourself. When most folks get addicted to hard drugs, they're at the point where they really just don't care anymore. And believe it or not, it's usually not external things that get the best of them, like abuse and such. It's the overwhelming feelings of worthlessness and no control. You feel as if you'll never find a way out. Depressed from when you wake up, to the time you go to bed (that is, if you're not too wired to go to bed, depending on drug of choice). And unfortunately, some people deal with those types of emotions differently, and drugs make people feel like that's the one thing they can actually control (even though it ends up making them OUT of control). But another thing I wanted to ask is why are you getting rid of her CD's? I mean, it's your choice, but do you really listen to music based on the artist's life choices? If we all did that, then some of the greatest artists of all time wouldn't have even sold a record. But seriously, though- just because Amy's talent was wasted doesn't mean that we can't appreciate what little bt of it wasn't.

  100. 300

Re: WatchGuardian – Wow. You called AMY a miserable crackhead?? It seems like YOU are the only miserable one out of the group. There's no reason on earth for a "happy" person to post over and over and OVER again about someone that they didn't even know being worthless, stupid, etc. Even if she was that way in your eyes, you are sitting here talking about her as if she anally raped infants, or something. You're just spewing hate, and no content person does that. You need help.
