Captain America: The First Avenger was Captain of the Box Office this weekend!

The movie brought some energy to the superhero franchise since most recent movies X-Men: First Class and Green Lantern were disappointments at the box office.

The Paramount/Marvel film brought in $65.8 million over the weekend, surpassing Thor, which came in at $65.7 million during its debut in May.

The predominately male audience gave the film good reviews, which catapulted the movie into first place, knocking down last week's blockbuster, record-breaking Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Harry dropped by 72%, but still brought in impressive numbers with $48.1 million in its second week. Within a week, the movie has almost hit $1 billion worldwide.

Crazy!!!

Despite the endless promotion, Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis' movie Friends with Benefits brought in an underwhelming number of $18.5 million, coming in third place in its opening weekend. Decent, but not enough to be considered a success.

Here's the top 10 films of the weekend:

1. Captain America: The First Avenger — $65.8 mil
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 — $48.1 mil
3. Friends with Benefits — $18.5 mil
4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon — $12 mil
5. Horrible Bosses — $11.7 mil
6. Zookeeper — $8.7 mil
7. Cars 2 — $5.7 mil
8. Winnie the Pooh — $5.1 mil
9. Bad Teacher — $2.6 mil
10. Midnight in Paris — $1.9 mil

So, what did U see this weekend, Perezcious readers??

X-men: First Class was NOT a disappointment, It did just as well as estimated and managed to bring in plenty of revenue as well as good reviews. Fox Studios went on the record and said the film was a financial success, it was playing to the same blockbuster audience as other films did.

X-Men: First Class was a fantastic film, and the studio has been very happy with it's performance. It made $55,101,604 on it's opening weekend. Don't forget, this was a reboot! They are already planning a sequel. It was, by far, the best comic book movie of the summer. I saw Captain America, and I liked it, but X-Men is a much better film.

I saw "Larry Crowne" for the fourth time this weekend.

    I am 108 years old.

Highly enjoyable film, both as a superhero flick and a WWII movie. It was nice for a change to see Hollywood put something out that was both entertaining and unapologetically patriotic.

What exactly is a success to you? Friends with Benefits made more than 50% of it's production cost back in it's first three days and the film stars two actors who aren't generally known to bring in audiences. The movie will make it's entire budget back and then some. It will be quite a success. Fucking idiot.

So let me get this straight. No Strings Attached that brought in just 1 million more in it's opening weekend going up against nothing was considered a success but FWB is not. Your such a loser perez. Not to mention FWB was so much better then NSA that alone makes it a huge success plus you don't know if it will have legs or not.

Perez, where do you get this crap? It took me all of three links to see that XFC made more on it's opening weekend and over 350 million worldwide. Exactly, how is it a disappointment?

Average movie, the girl stole the movie.

X-Men was fantastic, it was one of the only movies I have been to where people got up and clapped.
Green Lantern was also very good, I had no problem with it.

    I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17

inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to

our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay

expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46

inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me

$52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get

    all this stuff, BidsGet.com

I went and seen Captain America: The First Avenger 3D…it was so amazing! The cinematography and storyline was excellent! You could tell they put extra thought into the fact it was going to be a 3D film because you literally feel like you are in the movie when you watch it! Chris Evans did an awesome job with the character, like he always does in his films, and made the show even that much better than it already was!

They really promoted the shit outta that Justin movie. Bieber's movie was so huge. I kinda knew fwb was going to flop. friends saw it and said it sucked.
