Jermaine And Randy Jackson Don't Want Michael's Tribute Concert To Happen!

| Filed under: Music MinuteMichael JacksonSad Sad

The last thing an event like this should be doing is causing more family drama! So sad!

Although Katherine Jackson, alongside La Toya, Tito, Jackie, and Marlon, announced that they have planned a tribute concert for Michael Jackson, called Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert and scheduled at the Millenniium Centre in Cardiff, Wales on October 8th, both Jermaine and Randy are apparently not supportive of the event, and issued a statement shortly afterward calling it inappropriate!

They write:

“While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death. There will come a time and place for an amazing and deserving tribute to Michael. But we feel that the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name.”

So sad that even still, they all can't come to agreement.

Personally, we think that Michael would just want his family to get along first and foremost, not squabble over tribute concerts and court cases.

What do U think?? Should it still happen?

You didn't know Michael Jackson, so it doesn't matter what you think that he would want. I don't think that Jackson needs a "tribute concert." If I want to honor Michael's legacy, I'll listen to his recordings. Going to a concert to hear other people do bad covers of his songs is lame. A "tribute concert" translates to his family making money off of him, and didn't they do that enough while he was alive? I think he said it best when he wrote and recorded "Leave Me Alone." His family needs to move on and find ways to generate income that don't involve Michael Jackson.

    Re: La Garse – Agreed.

This should have stayed a quiet family matter. The whole world does not need to know what each individual family member thinks of any other members choices. If you have a problem with something your mother does you tell HER - you don't release a press statement!

Somebody just give this family the MOST DYSFUNCTIONAL award and be done with them!

I see where Jermiane and Randy are coming from but it wasn't necessary to release a statement, that only causes more drama. I think a tribute is a good ideal especially if it benefits charities but it's about the place and time and after the trial in the united states would seem best.

Global Live Events propose a system of ticket purchase based on “how much you want to give to charity (A Charity Pledge)” on top of the ticket price, so they can pocket the main profit. Wait a minute, if I want to make a donation to APLA (Aids Project Los Angeles) or Prince’s Trust I really don’t need to go through Global Live Events and the Jackson family. The Jackson Family has become a kind of Juggernaut and they are so desperate to exploit the image and the name of Michael. Do not forget that Joe Jackson has teamed up recently with a French con-man to launch a “Tribute” fragrance line ” illegally using Michael’s name and likeness and that project died of a quick and ugly death.
