Good for him!
All the more proof that you ALWAYS have the opportunity to be who you are!
Mo Rocca, most famous for his role on The Daily Show, recently opened up to The Six Pack radio show about coming out of the closet, becoming comfortable with his sexuality, and whether or not he'll ever reunite with Jon Stewart and Steve Carell!
On coming to terms with his sexuality:
"I'm just more comfortable with myself now. It's taken me until I'm 42 to begin feel this way."
On being outside the Stonewall Inn the night same sex marriage was passed in NY:
"It was very memorable, very emotional, it was a great place to be."
On "hiding behind his glasses" and his decision to retire them:
"I felt like I was hiding behind my glasses…I just felt as if my glasses were becoming a costume piece. I'm being serious right now. I just feel like.. I just think that so much of being a performer is finding your voice and also figuring out is your persona based on you, is your persona you, or is your persona totally separate. I found it can never be separate."
On his opinion of "certain types of gays:"
"A lot of the guys there [Fire Island] combine desperation with ruthlessness, and it's just not a winning combination. To see someone who looks terrified, and kind of hungry and scared, and at the same time it's vicious. They're like starving jackals!"
On rumors of a Daily Show reunion:
"That would be fun… I believe Steve [Carrell] is sincere about doing it, and I believe Jon [Stewart] is too. I'd love to do it."
Oh, we certainly hope so! We wouldn't want to miss that!
And thanks for being so candid!
We imagine your honesty will be a huge inspiration for many who watched you on the show!
