piers morgan phone hacking drama continues

The drama continues!

Earlier this month, a conservative member of Parliament made allegations toward Piers Morgan, which included him in the recent phone hacking scandal.

As soon as Morgan heard this, he took to Twitter and called the allegations "complete nonsense."

Then yesterday, we heard about British blogger Guido Fawkes who claims he has a recording, which proves Morgan's guilt.

Once again, Morgan denied the claims via Twitter, where he lashed out against @GuidoFawkes.

Now, Fawkes, whose real name is Paul Staines, is saying that he will continue to release "tidbits" of information about Piers' alleged involvement in the phone hacking scandal.

When asked why he's focused on Piers, Staines/Fawkes had the following to say in response:

"What I'm trying to do is widen the circular firing squad and the way to do it is you've got to have a villain. There's no point using the names of executives or editors no one ever heard of (in America). But everybody knows Piers' name. He's a character."

Team Piers or Team Fawkes?

Have we somehow entered Bizarro World, where celebrities and the rich/powerful are accountable for their actions??? Oh, it's the UK. Perhaps there is a place in the world where they don't slobber over themselves when catering to celebrities?

Well, GMA played some of the recording this morning. It was Peers on type, not denying his involvement or accepting guilt. But come on, as the Editor In Chief of one of the biggest papers in Britain he wants everyone to think he didn't know shady stuff was going on? Specially when stories have to be verified before being printed. Any editor worth his salt would not only make sure the stories are true but most of the times the reporters have to divulge their sources to their boss to avoid being liable for a slander lawsuit. Sent this guy before a jury, and let his testify under oath. Just because he's in two crappy shows in America does not make him a reputable personality!

So he's focused on one guy cos he knows thats the best way to make the gossip sites like these. The phone-hacking scandal was uncovered because of years of careful and professional journalism by principled people who didn't let the threats of police and politicians stop them. Paul Staines is a drunk driving loser who has just gone for the most convenient target to boost his own profile and wants to be part of the story without doing any work.
