A good global cause.
Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am will be traveling to China later this year to perform in a special benefit concert in Beijing. According to the State Department, the event will benefit cultural and educational ties between the United States and China and hopefully, open doors for more American students to study in China and vice versa.
In announcing the concert, Will.i.am opened up about the opportunities he hopes this affords the younger generation, saying:
"In order to become responsible global citizens, young people need to experience the world around them. Kids from underserved communities rarely have the opportunity to study and travel abroad, and we want to change that. We must make sure that American students have the cultural awareness and skills necessary to succeed in a global economy."
Well said! Sounds like this could be an amazing opportunity for some lucky, brilliant kids.
The Beijing concert will also include performances by some other U.S. and Chinese pop stars, though no other acts have been announced yet.
We wish you a lot of success with it, Will! Here's hoping your plan takes flight and more kids will get to benefit from this.
