But whether this is a permanent arrangement or not remains to be seen. We'd hate to think he'll never get a proper send off.
Though he brushed off the rumors earlier in the week, it has been confirmed that Jerry Lewis will not appear in the annual muscular dystrophy telethon that he has hosted since 1966. This was poised to be the famed comedian's last year and the Muscular Dystrophy Association was ready to send him off with quite a swan song.
However, the announcement was made this morning, along with the announcement that Lewis would no longer serve as the organization's national chairman. The board's official statement adds:
"We will not be replacing him as MDA national chairman, and he will not be appearing on the telethon."
The MDA did not give a reason for why Lewis would not be appearing in this year's telethon.
The end of an era for sure!
