Say Goodbye To Wisteria Lane! Desperate Housewives To End Earlier Than Expected!

We have some shocking news to tell you.

The 2011-2012 season of Desperate Housewives will be its last.

ABC is making the announcement at the Television Critics Association press tour and sources say that cast members Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, and Eva Longoria are "shocked and saddened" by the news.

Showrunner Marc Cherry had originally said that he wanted the show to go 9 seasons, making the show last until 2013. In fact, the four stars just finished salary negotiations for an additional year.

It's still strong in viewership ratings and it seems that fans aren't ready to say goodbye just yet. So, we have to wonder….

Could this have anything to do with Marc Cherry's legal problems with former castmate Nicolette Sheridan? Or is it because he stepped down as the show's executive producer this past year?

Hmm, not sure exactly why the show would end a year early, but we're curious to find out.

I have watched this show from the beginning and for the most part enjoyed it - but I am not sad to see it end. I think it has run its course, I would be happy to see it end on a high note. Besides, I'm getting a bit sick of the frozen, pulled faces of Teri Hatcher and Marcia Cross. Please keep it natural, ladies.

Good! The show has run its course and it's time to end it. Last season was terrible.

  3. 3

Didn't even know the show was still on.

  4. 4

    shoulda been gone years ago…

  5. 5

Ohhh I loved this show, but I understand even I spotted watching it on tv and started celebrity apprentice and started watching it on the computer when it took like a month of for some random reason? But I will miss it, it had some amazing story lines :')

  6. 6

Ooooh so sad! But yeah all good thigs have to come to an end

  7. 7

I still like it and am sad to see it go. They needed to focus the storylines more, though (the doll thing with Gabby was stooopid).

  8. 8

is it shocking? I'm just surprised that the show didn't end at least 3 years ago. I stopped watching after season 3…

The writing has been terrible, and watching 4 women with frozen faces act is just pitiful. Besides its cheaper to churn out reality chit than pay for scripted drama. Marc Cherry need to dissapear. An announcement on the news revealing his body found in stockings with a rope around his neck is well over due.

Are you f*cking kidding me??? This is one of my favorite shows on television currently and for the past 6 years!! I have been watching this show ever since then!! Last season was amazing!!! It got kind of wonky along season 4 but this past season was kick ass, I am fucking pissed as far as I am concerned this show could be on for the next 20 years, this is one of the best scripted shows and I honestly look forward to the end of every summer just so I can have my Bree, Gabby, Suzanne and Lynette (RIP Eddie, loved her too) back, this was such a good a good show, if there is any protest or anything going on let me know and I will jump on the band wagon!! :(

    No, no, no! >:(

I love this show! I'm going to seriously have Desperate Housewives withdrawal when it does end. After my long weeks, I look forward to Sunday nights, it puts me in a good mood for Mondays and gives me something to look forward to the next Sunday :(

I personally LOVE this show (have never missed an episode and no I don't get to fill out ratings books to prove it!) but if they have to end it, at least go out with a huge orgy or start killing off the cast to make it interesting lol. Sundays will never be the same again when it's over. Please don't end it by having some giant meteorite slam into Wisteria Lane or an Ebola outbreak okay?! I mean, we've already had a tornado and a plane crash lol. I will honestly miss the show :( BOO!

    HORRAY!!!

story lines have been bad past few seasons, they havnt shown us anything new a bit of repetition better they leave on a high which was probably a season or two ago that drag on 1 more seasons for the money, i was a fan though in their prime

  16. 16

Rosebud99, I couldn't agree more with you. Too much Botox maybe??? those two's faces are not natural. Who wants to watch faces that look like plastic????

  17. 17

Rosebud99 I agree with you totally- except for 1 thing: I think it's Felicity Huffman, not Teri Hatcher who has been looking the most wonky along with Marcia. Felicity bothered me more and more with her puffy duck lips, her smooth skin and her eyes which couldn't even wink at the same time. Why are these women so desperate to look young?? I think you can still look great with some crow's feet and maybe a few pounds more.
But at its prime, the show was GOLD. I loved how it was filled with mysteries and conspiracies in the beginning. I didn't care so much for the loopy comedy of later seasons, most with Gabby and Susan.

  18. 18

once a terrificly entertaining fresh show
that is now past it's prime

  19. 19

I have watched this since the beginning and it remains my all time favorite show! I'm sadden by the news and really did want them to go 9 seasons at least. I guess the silver lining is that they will go out with a bang this year rather than being drugged out like one of my other favorites, Grey's Anatomy. It does confuse me on how ABC has chosen to end this series after the 8th season even though it's one of their top 3 scripted shows. I'm sad to see it end but I'd rather them decide to end it than cancel it.
