Oh no! So glad you're okay, Ry Ry!

Ryan Reynolds is opening up about his horrifying experience when he was hit by a drunk driver as a teen.

At the age of 19, Ryan was drinking with some friends (it's legal to drink at the age of 18 in Canada) and decided to "be responsible" and walk home instead of getting behind the wheel.

On his way home, he was struck by a drunk driver and had to be rushed to the hospital.

His condition was serious. He spent three days in a coma and was extremely hurt from the collision. He recalls:

"Broke every bone in my left side…I woke up three days later. And I remember my dad sitting there… (with) a vomit tray. And I guess I had been heaving in my unconscious. And nothing says love like painting someone with three-day-old Gin Rummies. Just soaked the man head to toe in my vomit. Since then, I’ve been a rickety, broken mess."

So terrifying. We are just so thankful that you are okay and didn't get more badly injured.

This should be a lesson, kids. DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE EVER. Seriously. Think twice before getting behind the wheel even if you've only had one drink. It's just not worth it.

'At the age of 19, Ryan was drinking with some friends (it's legal to drink at the age of 18 in Canada)'
Do you ever do any research into the stuff you post? It's legal to drink in Canada at the age of 19 not 18, so much for someone who apparently "loves" Canadiana so much.

  2. 2

Is that why it looks like his forehead stops within 1 inch of his hairline, on the sides?

  3. 3

The legal drinking age is 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. It's 19 in all other provinces…

  4. 4

Hey Perez, just to let you know the legal age to drink in Canada is actually 19 in most provinces!! I believe Quebec is the only exception where it is 18

  5. 5

It's legal to drink at the age of 18 depending on your province, while in other provinces it is 19. It's legal at 19 to drink in BC, but is legal at 18 in Alberta and so forth. To say it's 18 in all of Canada is pretty stupid.

  6. 6

    Quebec's stop signs are in French - it's awesome…..

  7. 7

God do some fucking research before you post shit dumbass

  8. 8

Re: April 20th – quebec if french… einstein.

  9. 9

Luckily his ego protected him form most of the impact. It certainly came out intact

  10. 10

Agreeing with everyone else, the drinking age IS 18 in some provinces but not all! I am from Ontario and it is 19 here, but yes in Quebec it is 18!
to the 2 people whining below me….seriously??? if you don't think he does research on anything he posts then WHY ARE YOU HERE?? You like this page enough to make an account so just comment if you see something wrong but other than that you don't need to be rude about it.

  11. 11

    @fid
actually its legal in alberta at 18 :)

  12. 12

The legal drinking age in Canada is 19, except in Quebec where it is 18. Ryan is from British Columbia so 19 is the relevant age…

  13. 13

It's not legal to drink in ALL of Canada when you're 18. It's only legal in Quebec, Alberta, and Manitoba. Everywhere else it's 19!

  14. 14

Re: susie1984 – damn straights. haha

  15. 15

Legal drinking age in Canada is 19. Except for Quebec, where it's 18.

  16. 16

ya only in Quebec it's 18 the rest of Canada is 19!! Just like the States we have provinces that have different laws!!

    17

I think there may be a 1 or 2 province (s) that the legal age is 18, but for most of the country, it's 19.

Oh and Perez, most canadians are really nice, not rude like some OTHERS (*cough*cough* fid) on here critizing you for quoting 18 by mistake.

Re: Charchar65 – THANK YOU!! Why do some people have nothing better to do with their time than critize others?!!

  19. 19

It's alright Perez, apparently even rude Canadians (** fid **), and some that are a bit nicer, don't know the legal drinking ages in our country.
The legal drinking age is 19 in every province except 3. In Manitoba, Alberta, and Quebec you can legally drink at 18.
The moral of this rant is that not all Canadians are assholes like some that comment here, and apparently not all Canadians even know the legalities of our country, so it's certainly not a big deal that you were Mistaken.
Please don't judge Canadians based on a few rude ones. We still love You!

  20. 20

It's legal in Quebec to drink at 18 not the rest of canada. Ryan is from Vancouver. Do your research..

  21. 21

It is legal to drink at 18 in some provinces. Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Is ryan reynolds not allowed to go to another province to drink?

  22. 22

Re: Jackbauer – do your research. 3 provinces have a legal drinking age of 18. and who is to say ryan didnt TRAVEL to another province? God forbid perez be right about something…

  23. 23

    It's not 18 everywhere. It's 19 here

  24. 24

Perez you IDIOT! The legal drinking age in Canada is 19, except in Quebec! Ryan is from British Columbia…not even close!

  25. 25

The legal age where I live is 16. But for some reason there's 13 14 year old kids in bars and nightclubs. I know I used to do it when I was 13 as well but now I see how fucking annoying it is.

  26. 26

Walking home isn't even very safe with all the weirdos about, a taxi from outside the club right up to your front door. It's more expensive but most clubs have taxi ranks nearby and if they're black cabs you know it isn't just a weirdo pretending to be a taxi driver.

  27. 27

Actually I am from Canada and the Legal drinking age is BOTH 18 and 19.

  28. 28

Yes, Perez made a goof. But it doesn't really matter because Ryan was 19 and legal when the accident happened anyways. I think the real moral of the story here is that you should never drink and drive and Ryan got very lucky!!

  29. 29

Re: fid – The drinking age is 18 in my province, and a few others as well, you dumbass.

  30. 30

Damn, people, stop complaining about a one-year age difference! It's not a huge deal. Canada is Canada! All that matters here is Ryan was of legal age while drinking.

  31. 31

WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT THE DRINKING AGE ITS IRELEVANT TO THE STORY!!!!! GOD WHINE WHINE WHINE

  32. 32

Re: Neener* – Bingo. Was going to say the same thing. For the majority of Canada, the legal drinking age is 19. In some provinces, it's 18.

  33. 33

Re: michele7 – Wrong. It's 18 in Alberta and Manitoba as well as Quebec.

  34. 34

For a person that loves can is not too smart. DO RESEARCH BEFORE POSTING SOMETHING! CANADA THE AGE TO DRINK IS 19! Quebec is 18 the on province at that age . God Damn… stupid AMERICANS!

  35. 35

Re: msredroses1234 – forgot to write manitoba and alberta

  36. 36

Re: fid – When Ryan Reynolds was 19, the legal drinking age WAS 18- it went up to 19 a year or so later. I'm a year older than he is, so I remember it being legal when I was 18.

  37. 37

Re: fid – Just to let you know yes the legal age is 19 in MOST of Canada but NOT ALL OF IT. Don't jump down his throat for not researching when you obviously didn't either. I live in Canada and where I live the drinking age is 18 thank-you. There are THREE provinces that have a drinking age of 18. So why don't you do research or if you are Canadian learn a bit about your own country!

  38. 38

its 19 in most, but 18 in quebec. so depends where he was. at one point BC was 18 for drinking, so that could have been the case

  39. @v@ says – reply to this

    39

Do ANY of you read the posts before posting?
Legal drinking age = 18 yrs. in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. 19 yrs in the rest.
    F*CK.

  40. 40

GOD WHO CARES ABOUT THE LIMIT?
What matters is is that he's better and he survived. Goodness.

  41. 41

    awww

  42. 42

    Re: dulcinoryx
No it wasn't 18 when he was 19! I am the same age as Ryan and have lived in BC my entire life and it's never been 18. Smoking yes, booze, no.

And do we really need 40 posts saying the same thing?

ummm… fellow Canadians, it's great that you want to tell the world that some of Canada is legal to drink at 18 and some at 19… but settle the F*** down… you'd think Perez made a HUGE mistake.. I think 18/19 is not part of the story and for those of you who constantly are bashing this website.. GO THE FUCK READ YOUR GOSSIP ELSEWHERE!!! Thank you… (have to thank you.. I am Canadian afterall)
