On Monday, the reality TV star took to Instagram to share a relatively cryptic message to his many followers.

Earlier we entered the discussion as to whether or not the petition to declare the beloved Bert and Ernie gay was a good thing (we think it is), but now we've gotten official word from Sesame Street's official Facebook page that the duo is NOT gay, but just extremely good friends:
"They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics … they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation."
Okay, we'll buy that they're good friends — but how many stories started out with best friends that ended up falling for each other?? It's possible!
We're a little blue over this and can't help but wonder if they're playing the middle of the road just because there'd most definitely be backlash over the reveal.
How do U feel about their statement??
PS: … is Sesame Street really finding their demographic on Facebook…?
