Roseanne's Developing A New "Blue-Collar Family" Sitcom

Roseanne Barr is back, bitches, so you better not hate!

Producer and star of the one of the greatest sitcoms in television history Roseanne, and now star of her own reality show Roseanne's Nuts, the woman knows how to make good tv so it's only natural that she makes a new sitcom for a whole new generation.

Roseanne is developing a new sitcom called Downwardly Mobile, along with 20th Century Fox, which is described as "a close-knit blue-collar family living in tough economic times."

Hmmm, sound familiar?

That's because Roseanne knows how to write about the average American family who's struggling to pay the bills. This new show seems absolutely appropriate for today's crazy economy. In fact, Roseanne was waaaay ahead of its time and is still very much relevant today, 20 years after it initially aired.

Recently speaking about her successful sitcom, Roseanne said:

"I and the mostly great writers in charge of crafting the show every week never forgot that we needed to make people laugh, but the struggle to survive, and to break taboos, was equally important. And that was my goal from the beginning."

We have no doubt whatsoever that Roseanne's new sitcom will be equally as important.

This is something we are truly looking forward to.

@Uhm…i don't know: You should watch Roseanne. It was a great show. It's probably on Nick at Nite or TBS.
I loved Roseanne and grew up watching that show. I don't know if trying to make another Roseanne will work, but I'll definitely give it a shot.

I agree with you there, SelenaLovesMario!! It was definitely one of my favourite shows as a kid, and I will absolutely watch this one! Fingers crossed for Roseanne~!

My young daughter loved Roseanne when it was on long ago.
    -
She'd always say, every single week, "Mom, you'd spank me if I spoke to you like that with that tone."
I'd answer, "Damn straight I would."
    -
Roseanne contributed to the downfall of how children should act towards their parents.
It was a long way from The Nelsons, Father Knows Best, The Donna Reed Show, Ozzie and Harriet.
    -
America is not a better place because of Roseanne.

Re: brendon.breezy – I've been outside the US for the past 6 years, but it was on both last time I was there. Now that I've seen this post, I'm missing Nick at Nite and TBS shows! We don't get Roseanne here, unfortunately :( Two and a Half Men is on 20 time a day, but quality shows aren't!

    OFF TOPIC:

Governor Rick Perry of Texas, a Republican, announced his candidacy for POTUS.
    -
He knows how to create jobs by no state taxes, low taxes and less regulations for businesses, that create the jobs.
    Understands America's energy needs.
    He's never lost an election!
    -
    Barry's asshole just puckered up.
Can't wait for the debates among O'Bummer (who is useless without TOTUS) and Perry and hopefully Palin too.
    -
Perry knows how to talk in front of a camera.
Sarahcuda is getting pretty good too.

  16. 16

Aw Serena, I'm feelin' the luv! Just for you.
    -
Its a three-man race. Let the big boys play!
One of these three will be our next President: Palin, Perry and Romney in that order.
    -
These three have the money, the executive experience and the name recognition.
    Let them get at it!

Re: luvs2tango – Her show was tongue-in-cheek and
    anti-Stepford wives, ahem…
On the truth is stranger than fiction side, here come the recession jokes.
Hey, Roseanne…if you search recessionjokes, the sites are actually there now.
Build it, and they will come.
