amc wants to cut costs on walking dead

The drama never ends on this show!

First, there was dramz surrounding the writing staff…THEN show creator Frank Darabont QUIT…and NOW AMC wants to cut costs on the show!

Before Darabont exited the show, AMC reportedly was trying to get him to cut costs on The Walking Dead.

Here are a couple of the network's ideas for keeping things cheap on the show:

- The show shoots for 8 days per episode, so AMC recommended they shoot half of those days indoors

- AMC wanted zombies to be heard and not seen sometimes, so as to save money on makeup costs

Boo! Overall, we think AMC is a fantastic network and they create some of the best shows that are out there today, but this is pret-ty lame!

You guys have got a quality show with The Walking Dead, AMC. Please don't mess that up. Your fans will thank you for it.

Why is AMC being so stupid! I understand that Mad Men is a great show, but that doesn't mean you totally screw over every other show on the network.

They are a shit network, I've been telling you all this for months

They have a hit on their hands and their worried about saving money on makeup? Don't they realize how fickle tv viewers are? The show's been off the air for so long they'll be lucky if people even remember it to begin with. If they start messing with the elements that made the show popular, I guarantee there won't be a season three.

LAME. That show is so rad and the most awesome thing about it are the ZOMBIES. They're probably going to make it all boring story drama now. Blah!

I wanna see some chick drag her half-carcass across a park over the course of two days.

    BRAINS! MMMMM!

re: Highboo, I totally agree with you that the zombies are the most intriging part of the show. I didn't watch the series on t.v. but my teen made me watch the dvd. Everything about the show is great, but it's the creepy zombies that keep us coming back for more!

Sounds like someone at AMC wants to sabotage the show. Because those two suggestions are just stupid.

This is what happens when a shit network isn't used to having a hit show..They don't know how to deal with it…Darabont quitting won't effect season 2 considering its pretty much done. This show is suppose to be about character development anyways and a survival show with a zombie backdrop..So tons of zombies was never needed..So cutting the cost will fuck it up big time. They had a good thing going, and now it will probably go to shit and then I'll laugh. Clearly the head honchos calling the shots are a bunch of morons.

Re: NookiesWA – Totally agree. This never had to be a super expensive show in the first place. Creating suspense and character development made it a hit. Why can't they hire someone cheaper to do the makeup? There are tons of starving makeup artists in ATL who would love to do a show like this.

Re: MariMookie – Character development??? Who the fuck cares about that! Are you really trying to say you don't watch for the zombies, you watch for the drama surrounding homeboy's relationship with dude's wife? Really? REALLY? Please stop watching this show - it's better than you.

So there's going to be less zombies and more dialogue scenes? UGH! There's already too much talking as it is, the comic had better pacing, lots more action and they still managed to develop characters. I hope they're not going to do a year in between every season, pretty sure other networks are developing zombie shows too.

Re: highboo – You're an idiot. You know this show is based on a comic book series right? In the comics, its not all bang bang kill zombies. It focuses on the people but with a zombie backdrop as said. You're one of the same idiots I see on imdb going "NOT ENOUGH ZOMBIE KILLIN" completely ignorant to the fact this isn't like that..

I gotta say, this is some piss poor fiscal management on AMC's part. You have three of the best shows TV and that is PLENTY of leverage to raise the price of your advertising - which is where the damn money comes from to produce these shows anyway. It doesn't always take a shit ton on money to produce incredible creativity, but it helps - a lot. Especially when you consider the LONG as hell hours and personal sacrifices that go in to making a TV series. Sure, there are the obvious perks - and money should be one of them. Just like when you get a raise and your department gets a larger budget when you perform above expectations and win a bunch of prestigious awards. Duh. Not to mention the added legitimacy shows of this caliber add to AMC -which was just some random cable channel network before Mad Men.

Rant over. Yes, I work in Los Angeles.
