Idaho Woman Faces 10 Years In Prison For Stealing Beer

And it wasn't even the good shiz!
A 35-year-old woman in Idaho faces 10 years in jail for her sticky fingers. Reportedly, Victoria Hill of Boise was caught slipping a 24-ounce can of Steel Reserve beer into her purse and was stopped by authorities when she left the store without paying for it.
Upon arrest, Hill was charged with felony burglary for entering the store with "the intent to commit a theft." If found guilty, she can be sentenced to no less than one year in the clink and a max of 10 years.
Ten years for a lousy can of beer? Are there not a lot of criminals in Boise that you've got to throw this woman in prison for something so harmless? True, she should be punished for stealing, we agree. But fine her or make her go to AA (we imagine she needs it) or give her some community service.
The punishment just doesn't seem to fit the crime, if you ask us.
Then again, to play devil's advocate, this is apparently not the first time she's gotten grabby with things that aren't hers. She was arrested a time before for stealing and was charged with grand theft. So, maybe she hasn't learned her lesson. Still don't think she should get 10 years in prison though.

Give her the same judge as Linds Hohan had. She will only get a slap on the wrist. Hohan isn't even doing her community service that she got. She has 300+ hours to go and she is out and about doing her own thing constantly. She was a numerous time incident person also and got away with it. Oh, and why is this on a celebrity web site???????
My cousin drank that poison & it turned him into a monster….until his liver BLEW-UP and he died 3 years ago…..
Slow news day Mario???
what? that is ridiculous, that time is longer than a murder charge. What a ridiculous justice system
For profit prison system. Enought said?
Yeah.. Ten years WTF.
im from boise.
this doesn't surprise me.
people only get in trouble for reallllly stupid things here
Some rapists and murderers don't even get this long. what a fucked up world.
& Rapists get like 6 months to a year…..nice, that's "justice"…
They don't F* around in Idaho. I'm from there and they're police don't mess around. It's actually nice since because of that it's generally a peaceful place to live compared to many other states with weak laws.
I live about an hour away from Boise. I know of someone who was underage caught stealing beer and they tried to get him for this same thing. its a felony in idaho. his charges got dropped but he did spend to about 6 months for other chargers in and out of jail. and do you know what he did on his first day out of jail? went to a party and drank. underage some people will never change i think its okay to be harsh on idiots like these. but i do think its stupid for a rapist or murderer to do only so much time when this gets 10 yrs. most likely the judge wont give her the full 10 yrs. it will probably be a few months.
i agree with berrybaby! just like when who was it? too short when he came down to do a concert he had warrents out for him and he was touring wtf!! but soon as he got to idaho they arrested him after his concert lol. now i like too short but law is the law. im glad they're a little more harsh around here.
You have got to be kidding me? This woman might face jail time for stealing beer, while Casey Anthony murdered her child and got away with it? Why, what lesson have we learned today? That taking your child's life is a much clever idea than stealing beer if you want to do something illegal? Yes, that is absolutely reasonable.
Re: HarperV – It's good to have harsh laws sometimes. It keeps people in line. If the economy was better I still would be in Idaho I loved it there. I live in New Mexico now and it is hell here! People are getting raped murdered robbed all the time here and the police really don't seem to care. Recently they let a sex offender out of jail because the other prisoners were "picking" on him. That would NEVER happen in Idaho! And that is why Idaho is still a nice place to live.
So, the taxpayers might get stuck with ten years of her room and board for a can of beer?
Not. Normal.
