Although it was reported that there was no chance of Sex & The City returning to television, it appears that not only is HBO VERY SERIOUS about adapting Candace Bushnell's The Carrie Diaries - her young adult novel that focused on a younger version Sarah Jessica Parker's iconic character and her senior year of high school - but that the network is looking to find another outlet to launch the series!
And so far, despite no official deals in place, it looks as though the CW is the frontrunner, with former SaTC writer Amy Harris, who currently writes for Gossip Girl, being tapped to head the project!
“Discussions are underway for The Carrie Diaries, Candice Bushnell’s book about Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years, to find a home as a potential television series.”
EXCELLENT! We couldn't be more thrilled!
Gossip Girl is already essentially a younger version of Sex & The City anyway, so we think bringing in a whole new creative team to re-tool the franchise for a fresh audience is a brilliant idea!
This could really take off!
Fingers crossed that it will!
What do U think? Will U watch The Carrie Diaries??
