oh em gee! i felt it here in Boston. i was sleeping in my little mattress on the floor, where is fresh and wok up with the house shacking… wtf! i thought the neighboors were having fun… but i was wrong… so weird.

  4. 4

I live in Carmel, NY, 1 hour north of city. My chair I was sitting in started to move back and forth and my head started hitting the bag of the chair. My computer also moved. Made me a little sick to my stomach. Seems like everyone in the NY area felt it but no damage. They evacuated the White House, Capital, etc because they were afraid it was a bomb at first. Freaked out!

  5. 5

Also Baltimore Maryland Perez, I am TOTALLY FREAKED OUT shaking like a leaf UGHHHHHHHH ive never experienced anything like that in my life!!!!

  6. 6

i live in loudoun county, virginia, which is about 83 miles from where the quake took place. i'm at work and the entire building shook. the noise was unreal.

  7. 7

so far - no reported injuries. Miraculous.

  8. 8

    Perez you sensationalize everything

  9. 9

Live on Long Island, NY…Felt it here and it scared the shit out of me

    I felt it in Connecticut

  11. 11

    felt it in downtown Pittsburgh

  12. 12

Why is this filed under "sad, sad"? I could be wrong, but there are, so far, no reports of damage or injuries that I've seen. Obviously it's scary, but to file it under the same headline that's used when there are huge losses of life seems unnecessary.

  13. 13

stay tuned… while you're still alive. what about the risk of a tsunami? have u guys heard about that possibility?

  14. 14

    Felt it in Michigan

  15. 15

Re: Alexima – Wow. You seriously wrote that?

  19. 19

we felt it in toronto, ontario!!

  20. 20

I'm in NJ and I felt the shaking for like 10 seconds, and yet everyone around me is still flipping out? It was a shallow 5.9 magnitude earthquake, the shallow part being the reason it was felt so far away. It's cool guys. You can all calm down now.

(BTW there was an earthquake in the same area last year, so it's not like this is the first time this has happened)

  21. 21

Re: Alexima – the plates in the ocean need to rub together to cause an earthquake that will cause a tsunami, this was inland. there will be no tidal wave.

  22. 22

obviously, with the states you named, maryland would be affected as well. so uh fucking mention maryland

  23. 23

ya.. i was walking and felt nothing :(

  24. 24

Here in Richmond Va - scariest thing ever!!! They evacuated my building, and all of our phone lines are jammed. It's pretty scary not being able to call the ones you love. But they keep telling us to prepare for aftershocks, let's hope not!

  25. 25

I'm in NJ, scared the hell out of me.

  26. 26

Felt it here in downtown Cleveland- thought it was part of the filming for THE AVENGERS!

  27. 27

Scary? I didn't feel a thing! I was driving so I guess that makes a difference.

  28. 28

Re: mer908 – oh! nice! thank you for the information… I was a littla afraid. they evacuated a lot of places in Boston… but I don't think we're ready for a serious earthquake. I hope that doesn't happen again. ai. but we're by the ocean, so I'm always afraid of a tsunami…

  29. 29

that was insane here in nj.

  30. 30

Felt it in Central Ontario (Canada) as well.

  31. 31

  34. 34

    Big deal out of nothing.

  35. 35

I work in Jersey City NJ. It was the scariest feeling ever! Evacuated here… running down flights of stairs when it isn't a drill isn't a good feeling!

  36. 36

you forgot Pennsylvania you fucken epic failure.
    the state capital was evacuated

  37. 37

    Talk about being over-dramatic…

  38. 38

This is all like that movie "the day after tomorrow" thats all i can think about with the snow in the central states (but not denver?) the large amount of tornados, and now this…I am the least to preach about the end being near but all this small stuff adds up.

  39. 39

I felt it in Boston and have friends who felt it in Albany.

  40. 40

    I slept through it.

  41. 41

i live in florence, sc and felt it here

  42. 42

Felt it in Western PA - WOW!!

  43. 43

How in the hell do they leave Maryland out of a line up that includes Virginia and DC? That was crazy cool tho since nobody got hurt!

  44. 44

    they never mention maryland…………

  45. 45

I'm in Boston. Seriously - the East Coast hiccupped. Nothing happened… I didn't even feel it. It's really not sensational or "BREAKING NEWS" worthy.

  46. 46

So in Maryland we're going to have an Earthquake and Hurricane in one week…

  47. 47

evacuated our office in New Haven CT

  48. 48

Re: bluephoenix – Okay, thought I was going NUTS! I live on Long Island and felt NOTHING!!!! I had just come out of Target and nothing happened in there, so it must have happened when I was driving. My kids said they felt something, but they thought it was our ANNOYING DOG! some of these Eastcoast tv stories are farfetched-news 12 can't confirm if washington monument is damaged-might be leaning???? we have our own leaning monument of D.C.!!!!

  49. 49

Re: mer908 – LoL i know right. I was watching the news and every one sounded SHOCKED! NO ONE DIED IT's OK!!!

  59. 59

Re: Serena Loves Mario – yes, I guess I did.

  60. 60

Re: April 20th – Nice to see you're still an asshole

  61. 61

Get your story straight. Philadelphia too!

  62. 62

  63. 63

Re: cutestgirlever – I live in JC too and was walking in Liberty State Park…I didn't feel anything but saw places like Medical Center were evacuated.

  64. 64

CNN is reporting a lot more states now. MI, GA, IL, etc..

  65. 65

Felt it here in the Philly area.

  66. 66

Im in Indiana and i didn't feel anything.. so idk..

  67. 67

I felt it here in Baltimore. I work in a guitar/ audio store and for a second just thought someone was booming a subwoofer a little too loudly. Then I was like.. wait a second… the whole building is moving! It was pretty confusing for all of us here considering none of us have ever felt anything like that before! California probably thinks we're seriously over reacting… but let 'em. just glad there are no reports of anyone getting hurt so far.

  68. 68

Re: Bmore girl – apparently. :/ lets just hope it doesnt get really bad. last week we had tornados too. I think god was aiming for New Jersey and missed.

  69. 69

I live in Va 20 mins. outside of dc and they've practically closed down everything for the day. This is the first time that an earthquake of this magnitude has hit this area so obviously to us this is a huge deal.

  70. 70

Re: shananana9 – just kidding about the Jersey comment, btw, before everyone gets on me about it. Obviously, i dont wish anything bad on anyone. Just making a little friendly joke. :)

  71. 71

As someone who's lived through some major Earthquakes… they are no joke! I hope everyone is ok and prepared for the worst

  72. 72

Re: shananana9 – typically when you have one larger earthquake… its followed by little smaller ones (aftershocks) so you shouldn't have to worry about it "getting really bad" as you said.

  73. 73

Re: MsJules – Shoot after reading all the reports on CNN.. this earthquake hasn't really done any damage.. so I guess theres no worse to hope for.. its all pretty much said and done. =/ Boring quake lol

  74. 74

Omg we've had so many earthquakes this year! First the ones in New Zealand, then Japan, then in the Atlantic Ocean and now this. I hope everyone is OK.

  75. 75

Re: Provokedflame12 – Earthquakes have nothing to do with weather… So your an idiot

  76. 76

i live near philly and we were struck with an aftershock. the phillies satudium was even evactuated for safety.

  77. 77

New Castle was pretty scary.. its about 40 mins north of pittsburgh pa

  78. 78

  79. 79

Re: MsJules – i was actually referring to the hurricane that we're supposed to be getting in MD this weekend
