Tony Bennett To Participate In Amy Winehouse Tribute At VMAs

| Filed under: MTVMusic MinuteAmy WinehouseR.I.P.Awardz

Considering her last recording was a duet with him, this is perfect.

Tony Bennett will be participating in the Amy Winehouse tribute that will air during this Sunday's VMAs on MTV.

Bennett recently recorded the duet Body and Soul with Amy and it was said to be her last song before her death. She and Tony recorded the song this past March at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Bennet said:

"It was a thrill to record with Amy Winehouse and when you listen to the recording of Body and Soul, it is a testament to her artistic genius and her brilliance as one of the most honest musicians I have ever known."

Amy's father Mitch Winehouse also expressed how he felt about the upcoming tribute:

"Our family is honored that the VMAs are giving Amy this wonderful tribute. We know that Amy’s performance of Rehab at the MTV Movie Awards played an important part in Amy’s worldwide success."

Lovely. We are really looking forward to this.

Please Please Please tell me they are not going to do the Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole thing. That would be the worst. And I love Tony - he is a legend - but he and Jerry Lewis and Dick Clark have jumped the shark on performances. Lately their stage presence have been cringe worthy.

    I will be watching.
