STELLAAAAAAA Cast In Streetcar Named Desire Revival!

It's one of Tennessee Williams' best, if not his best, and there are a lot of former actresses to live up to in this role. Still, we think she can handle it.

Ya'll probably know Daphne Rubin-Vega best from her role in the original production of Rent, but Daphne has just been cast as Stella in the upcoming Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire.

She joins an already impressive cast with Blair Underwood as Stanley and Nicole Ari Parker as Blanche. No word yet on where the production will be held and when in spring it will debut.

Best of luck to you, Daphne! Such a raw talent - we're sure you'll do wonderfully!

I love her, but this is bad casting at its worst and an obvious attempt to grab minority theatergoers. good luck to them all. the most recent B'way production of "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" with an all-black cast was AWFUL.

Ha! She totally looks like Vanessa Hudgens in about 20 years!

Talented? Yes. Right for this role - No! We saw her in Les Miserables as Fontine and it was awful! A Latin Fontine just did not fit there just as a Latin Stella does not fit here. It would be okay if she did could lose her accent, but unfortunately she does not.

READ THE TIMES PEREZ. Underwood is out and Wood Harris is in. THANK GOD. That was the worst casting I have ever seen. Blair Underwood as Stanley Kowalski? riiiiiitteeee.

Blanche is supposed to be pale and fair because she is worn down and fading. I think the physical appearance of Blanche is a very important aspect of her character and so I do not think this is good casting.

I am happy for them, but watch the film version with Marlon Brando. Nothing comes close. Everyone and I mean everyone in the movie made each one stronger. The best film and play ever.

i love love love DRV, so it pains me to say this, but she's simply not right for the role.

this whole thing looks like a disaster. then again, they'll never re-create the electricity that brando brought to the stage & screen no matter who they cast. the man was simply incomparable in streetcar.
