Where My Girls At?! Reports Show Less Women Are Working In Hollywood?

Behind and in front of the camera!
Broadcast television and film are seeing a real decline in the number of women working in the industry. Sadly, according to the study by the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film at San Diego State University, ladies just aren't representing like they used to.
In this past 2010-2011 broadcast season, only 15% of working writers on TV were females, down from the 29% last year. Only 25% of persons behind the scenes such as writers, producers, creators, directors, executive producers, editors, and directors of photography were women, which was a 2% decline from the previous year. A big decline was found amongst female directors as well - from 16% in 2009-2010 to 11% in 2010-2011.
But women stayed relatively steady in front of the screen, though the numbers still declined. Forty-one percent of all characters in television are female, down two-percent from the 2007-08 season, which held the historical high.
Ladies, where are you? We know you've got the skill, the creativity, the drive! Time to get back into the game here! We know there have got to be more Tina Feys, Amy Poehlers, Shonda Rhimes and Julie Plecs in the world! Stop idolizing those damn Teen Moms and Housewives and start appreciating what your mother's fought for!

Truck Crumples Under Bridge!

FEWER women. Learn English.
Wow, seems kinda weird. I woulda thought more women were working in Hollywood. It definitely feels like there are more women on tv. Shocking statistic… @ThisisMony
How are you placing the blame on women for this? There are so many women struggling to get their foot in the door in an industry that is dominated and controlled
by men. Women have to work twice as hard just to get an ounce of respect and success that their male counterparts have.
*FEWER women! Grammar fail!
Fewer!
Its probably becaus eyou either have to be a sex-prostitute looking women, stupid brains or no talent at all, who are the "stars" now? the kardeshians and jersey shore people as example! true blood (good serioys but you need to show your tits anyway) or any other thing that involves the list above
well, im my opinion the women tha tare getting the jobs now are the kind of people like: The kardashians, the jorsey shore whores (snookie getting paid 300.000 dollars per episode!) and the reality show "actress" wannabes. I mean, that is why, who wants to be on tv when that is what the demand is? reality tv whore-stupid brains- Im not good at anything..
and it ALWAYS INVOLVES SEX. true blood may be good but hey in reality, there is a A LOT ofd unnecessary sex and tbh, not a lot of acting talent.
This isn't surprising at all. While were at it lets talk about the lack of African Americans in Hollywood these days!? And black women?? Practically non-existant unless it's in a fucking Tyler Perry Movie! :/ Not trying to start this into a race thing but c'mon people. And Perez posting this just shows how ignorant he is.
The Good Ol' Boys Network is alive and well…haven't you ever noticed that in the movies they always pair up an old man with a much younger actress playing his wife or love interest? (If your a woman and over 35…good luck getting a part.) Only in hollywood is this a truism because it IS their reality…the old white males got all the cash and power and young actresses still have casting couch's so to these old, flabby assed powerful men DO get much younger women…guaranteed if they were middle aged plumbers…young 20/30 somethings wouldn't give them a second look. Oh if you want an example of the old actor/young actress: UNKNOWN - Liam Neeson, 59…January Jones, 31…so creepy. Guess she should be lucky she is the flavour of the month and is working!
Considering the pressures that women are thrown into when it comes to Hollywood, not surprised. It's still a boys club there. Has been always will be.
Women just aren't as talented as men. Deal with it.
