Facebook Headquarters To Turn Into A Compound??

WTF is going on over there at Facebook headquarters?
They recently decided to relocate its 1,500 employees to the former Sun Microsystems office in Melo Park, California where we assume they plan on growing more than six times their size since the new space will be expanded to accommodate 9,400 employees.
Not only that, in their expansion, they are basically building their own creepy compound that will consist of:
- Laundry services
- Coffee stand
- Two-story projection screens in the central courtyard
- BBQ pit (WTF)
- A DOCTOR'S OFFICE!!!
Is this real life?? Maybe Mark Zuckerberg never wants his employees to leave their place of work? Who needs to go home when you can just barbeque some ribs while getting your shirts ironed during the work day?
Sounds a little creepy!! Or maybe kind of awesome! We can't decide!

No different than Microsoft or Google
This is the same as many tech companies. I've been to the EA location in Vancouver and they have at least 3 places for coffee, a basketball court and I think a soccer field.
and bunnies
Most corporate fortune 500 companies provide these services. I think you need a real job because you are out of touch.
Wow, these employees are lucky. The "compound" facilities make their lives easier. A doctor and laundromat on site are convenient…
That's nothing for a company their size, I would have expected more
Um, most successful companies have all of these amenities. From Adobe to Dreamworks.
Perez- As most of your comments you are certainly out of touch with reality. Most large companies offer these services. Have you really held a job before?
Sounds awesome to me.
I can see that people have already pointed out this is a really common occurrence at tech companies. It's a convenience and a perk for staff and employees to have these available on site.
Sounds awesome! Don't be so jealous Perez! Ha!
Boy this guy is cheap cheap I worked for a Hi tech company in the mid 90's at a company in the valley 1/10 the size and we had much more incentives. The food was unbelivable at $5 for lunch and $3 dinner and you could have your kids and wife use all the facalities after 7:pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.
I wonder if there will be a hoody shop
Nike has the same thing at their campus for the most part. Not sure why you are shocked or making it sound so rare.
Perez, you need to do that at your office. That's awesome.
Microsoft. Google. EA.
…already doing this! How in the world is it creepy for an employer to offer extra incentives? Happy employees are more productive.
Sounds awesome!
Creepy. Life can't be all work.
Most companies have that.. the company I work for has all of the above plus onsite gym and car service….
