Doctor Amputates Man's Penis During Circumcision Procedure

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooWacky, Tacky & TrueLegal Matters

Painful!!

A Kentucky man is suing his doctor after the surgeon amputated the man's penis during a circumcision procedure to treat inflammation.

The doctor says he found cancer in the man's penis while performing the surgery and made the decision to amputate it because according to him, the cancer was life-threatening.

Phillip Seaton is now taking the doctor to court, claiming that he should have been consulted before the doctor took action.

Yiiiikes!! Poor guy. He has to live the rest of his life without his peen! But, then again, if it saved his life…

Watch the video above to find out more about the case.

This was so unfortunate and unnecessary. Doctors aren't only responsible for the physical health of their patients, but also in a way for their mental health. Going into any surgery, big or small, takes some mental preparation, and the shock of waking up and finding out the doctor didn't prepare you for something is unacceptable. Besides, how did the doctor know it was life-threatening surgery? By LOOKING at it? Did he even run tests? Get a second opinion from another professional? I hope this man wins and his doctor gets severely punished. Doctors are professionals, they're not gods who can make unilateral decisions over the fate of another without letting that person have a say in it.

The excuse of it saving his life is total bs. Yah Im sure he would have died the same day if it wasn't done… Im sure every man in the world would rather pay for a second surgery and go through the whole process again in order to be notified first before getting their dick cut off and at least be mentally prepared.

The doctor discovered the tip of his peen was cancerous and it looked like rotting cauliflower. He removed an INCH off the top. There was another doctor who removed the rest. The patient ALSO signed the form allowing the doc to do whatever was necessary. If he didn't understand the contract (whether he couldn't read or had poor comprehension) HE SHOULDN'T SIGN SHIT.

Biopsies must be run in order to determine malignancy or benignity. The eye cannot determine such a thing. Take him for all he's worth buddy!

And by the way, if my husband's peen looked like rotten cauliflower I think 'loss of service' starts there.

Re: eilliM – where did you get the rest of this? I heard the 1 inch taken off by the Dr., which commentors have to understand, something NASTY was going on to begin with.. Why would a 64 yo get a circu.? Something was wrong. As long as he had cancer, the form was read to him, and a witness signed that it was READ TO HIM and he signed it. Alot of penile cancers (not melanoma-sun) start up under the FORESKIN-uncircum. babies-mothers are told to clean the area and parents are supposed to teach their sons to take care and clean the area. Yes, you can die from PENILE Cancer if it goes to far, most slow growing (not melanoma), but how long did he LET IT GO? Wife IS NO WITNESS, HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN TOLD OF THE POSSIBILITIES!!! We do not KNOW!

For ONCE I would love to see you report the whole story. This douche signed a document giving the doctor the right to do WHATEVER was necessary to save this guys life. When these documents are presented, ALL possibilities of what COULD possibly happen during the surgery are discussed. The man wasn't left in the dark by any means. He's just looking for easy money. It's an unfortunate situation, but he should be thanking the doctor instead of taking him to court. Also, I think he's spewing some B.S. about not being able to read when he signed the document - so you can already get a feel for what kind of person this man is. If you can't read something you ask for help & DON'T SIGN IT without question. When is personal responsibility going to factor into one of these situations?!

If anything, blame insurances, they kick people out so fast that you cannot see social services or therapists when you need it. Surgery wards, oncology wards, staff, drs. KNOW PTS NEED TO SEE THERAPISTS, SOCIAL SER. but are often denied the amount of time in patient needed. OR THEY REFUSE! (my mother did)

Hope he wins a lot of money. This was callous and wrong of the doctors. They should have asked, at least.

Actually, Swedish doctors have been using laser treatment for penile cancer which will just remove the top layers that are affected. American doctors are butchers anyway. America is the only industrialized country that thinks infant circumcision has health benefits. Furthermore, signing any agreemnt does not give the doctor the right to take advantage of patients. There have been cases where the plaintiff has signed an agreement and won in court despite signing a document. Did you know that over 4,000 American women will get vulvar cancer this year and just over 1,000 men will get penile cancer. By the way, having a foreskin has very little to do with contracting cancer. Penile cancer often originates in the circumcision scar, so what's the difference? It better to enjoy sex with a foreskin and all those nerve endings than to get by with half the nerve endings a man is supposed to have. Human papilloma virus causes genital cancers and cigarette smokers seem to get more cancers of this type than non-smokers.
