MTV Has Decided They WON'T Be Having A Host For This Year's VMAs!

| Filed under: MTVRussell BrandChelsea Handler

2011 MTV VMAs

We were so excited when we got that glimmer of hope yesterday about the possibility of a last minute host coming in for the VMAs.

As we reported yesterday, show executive producer Amy Doyle stated in an interview:

It's going down to the wire. Hosting is such a unique element. We feel we got it right by putting new talent on the stage like Chelsea Handler and Russell Brand. We're really challenging ourselves to find the right person so that the show feels complete.

Unfortunately, MTV updated their status after the interview, confirming there will be no host this year.

Boo! No host?!? MTV, whachu thinkin!?!?!?!?!

Ah well. It's still going to be a stellar show. Lots of great performance, tributes, likeliness of random crazy happenings, etc..

We're still excited about Sunday! Are U?

Better off, I haven't liked most the hosts in the recent years.

don't care who wins, don't care who hosts, just want to see the performances.

Will we miss the host and their lame opening jokes? No just bring on the drama and the water cooler conversations.

They haven't had a good host in years so they might as well go on without one. Though not having a host makes their show look more lame I wouldn't be surprise if they get rid off it at one point. I mean what's the point? They don't even show music videos anymore, pretty soon there is going to be the YouTube awards since that's where people watch videos or since its music artists the Vevo awards lol.

No host..h mm I kind of like that idea.. Rather then one host.. having a slew of comedians break up the show.. and MOVE it along faster.. maybe even allow for more performances. The cheesy skits didn't really work for me. So yea it'd be cool to have like Russel Brand open up.. and then the next comedian do a part and so forth…! Just no James Franco hehe

Re: MsJules – I agree completely! Rarely do hosts do a good job and it (for me at least) always feel like they are just space filling between performances or awards.. put more performances on and have it more about the artists

No host means no one to waste time. Show host are annoying. They make me feel uncomfortable. The goal is to make us laugh but they generally fall flat.

if you hosted it, it would still be hosted by no one
